Chapter 82: Mykew Gregorovitch

That night Harry didn't get a wink of sleep.

He thought about the sensation when he had been angered due to Lestrange's words and recalled how he had felt Death's Magic stir in response to his anger.

He hadn't realised it then but thinking back on it, when he had turned his attention towards Lestrange, he had felt the otherworldly magic in him moving inside him like a small trickle of water.

He didn't know if it was his conscious decision to funnel that magic into his eyes or if that magic had a will of its own which it had exerted on his eyes.

But for those few seconds, he had seen something that had left him reeling.

Though he hadn't shown any outward reaction to it, he had been able to see Lestrange's soul or was it his magic?

It had appeared like a soft, hazy ball which had been fluctuating in tandem with the other boy's heartbeat.

Or could that white glow be Lestrange's life force?

It had looked as if a child had been caught unravelling a ball of yarn and had then haphazardly twisted it into an unrecognisable semblance of a rounded ball while weaving it back.

More importantly, he had never even realised that he had gained this delightful ability until just this evening and it left him feeling wrong-footed.

He supposed he could ask Death about it but that would be even worse.

Wouldn't the entity feel resentment that the person who was supposed to be its Master hadn't even bothered to learn about the abilities that came with the title?

To be really truthful, Harry didn't mind the latest addition to the already impressive list of his titles because this title didn't come with expectations and duties that he had to fulfil no matter the personal cost.

However, right now he felt a bit miffed about it.

What had happened in the common room had made him realise that he couldn't keep on living his life as another mere mortal because he had Death's Magic entwined with his own and he couldn't ignore that aspect of his title or magic.

Moreover, if the present trend of Grindelwald and his Acolytes continued, he didn't want Albus Dumbledore to be in the limelight for supposedly defeating his lover and bask in that glory all his life.

He had been thinking about this issue since the day he had received that scroll from his grandfather.

Lady Magic and Lady Gaia had always stayed neutral in any wars in the past, present and future.

Following that thought, only a Slumbering Mage could hope to defeat another Slumbering Mage.

Similarly, only an awakened one could hope to fight against and defeat an awakened Mage.

Thinking about it, if Dumbledore wasn't a viable option in the upcoming fight, only another Slumbering Mage could do it.

From what he recalled of his own timeline, there were never more than two Slumbering Mages of either of the three categories at a given time.

Just as he was pondering about this issue, on a whim, Harry called his Death Magic and it settled just underneath his skin - ever ready to be unleashed and do something because usually, he kept it tightly reigned inside.

He decided to try and see if the other Slumbering Mage who had the potential to a Grey Lord like him would be able to feel his prob and send an answering prob, no matter how weak.

If the other person could do it, Harry could then call their attention and he knew himself well enough that the slightest brush of another person's magic would be enough for him to identify them even if they themselves would be perplexed by the strange tug and reaction of their magic.

He sharpened and whittled that Death Magic until it formed a silk-like thin thread and then sent it out slowly into the mortal world and hoped that what he had envisioned would turn out true and that the magic wouldn't decide to do something on its own.

He waited for a long time and when there was no response, he felt disheartened.

However, before he could try to shut off his wandering thoughts and sleep, he felt an answering hum.

The magic seemed to be brilliant and had its own allure and power.

Had it been someone else, they and their magic would have been swallowed whole because this method was quite pervasive and the other person's magic would have lashed out instinctively because of feeling threatened.

Nonetheless, in this instance, the magic behaved on the contrary. It shied away from Harry's probe and gave off the feeling of a frightened child curled up on themselves and trying to hide from the eyes of a predator.

He could understand that being confronted by Death's own magic out of the blue would not only be disconcerting and might lead to negative effects on the said person's body, soul and magic.

So, he sent a soothing pulse along the already fragile and cumbersome connection.

The other magic seemed to be akin to a curious but frightened child who wanted to go ahead and see the thing that had attracted its attention but was afraid of being seen as too forward.

Still, it settled into an uneasy rolling of waves of the sea and then the person must have noticed something different because the magic churned again and the connection was abruptly broken.

When Harry felt the Death Magic rushing back to him, he made another discovery.

A discovery that left him perplexed as to whether he should laugh or cry because though he had realised the identity of the third Slumbering Mage in Dumbledore's generation, it was of no use in the near future.

The third Slumbering Mage of the triplet was Mykew Gregorovitch - the world renowned wandmaker and proprietor of Gregorovitch Zauberstäbe in Europe.
