Chapter 3: Chapter 3 -A Maiden's Cry
"Watch out!" I sprinted towards her and extended my arm. It was a split second before she fell into the river, I managed to grab her arm and pull her to safety.
"Are you okay?" asked me in concern. "Why were you peeking at me?! You scared me!" She pouts after scolding me. "I'm sorry, I thought there was a monster nearby" I apologized. "It's ok, thanks for saving me earlier" "So what were you doing here by the river?" I asked in curiosity. "The truth is that.... I ran away from home. I came by the river to take a breather after walking so long". "Why'd you ran away? It's ok if you don't want to tell". "It's ok, it's not that sensitive anyway"
Mariandella and I sat on the rocks near the river for her to tell me why she ran away.
"For your information, I'm actually part of a rich family". "Da heck, no wonder she has such a fancy name, but her clothes look kinda normal" is what I thought. "Eventhough my family is rich, but I don't enjoy the rich lifestyle that much. I like a much normal lifestyle. My parents didn't like my style and forced me to act like a rich person. I also wanted to be an adventurer. I already took the Adventurers Placement Exam and passed. But when my parents found out, they got very angry and prevented me from going out of the house. I got so tired of that, so I ran away from home to pursue my dream as an adventurer." "Oh,sorry for what happened to you." I said with concern. "I tried joining various parties, but they kicked me out because I was kind of a scardey cat. I know I am one, but I still want to pursue my dream"
"Wow, bunch of losers who don't appreciate a beauty like you" I blurted out without thinking. "T-T-Thanks" she blushes out of embarassment. "Hmmm... Do you want to make a party with me, it would be nice to travel around with a partner helping out." I offered her. "But..." her face turns sad, "What if I drag you down? Because I'm too scared to fight a monster, even the small ones. I don't want to hinder your progress"
"Mariandella, not everyone is perfect, some people are nervous when starting out, but as you progress, you will get used to it. I promise that I'll make you braver when we're progressing. I'm also a new adventurer myself." "Are you sure?" "I promise" "Then, I'll take your offer, please take care of me!" A cheerful smile colors her face.
