Chapter 3: New Start (2)

Up in his room Leon heard steps towards his room. He closed the window, unlocked the door and jumped on his bed.

The door opened, "Leon, go to sleep early, you know the clan is holding a lecture in the morning so you can't be waking up late tomorrow."

"Sure, mom I'll sleep early."

"Goodnight, if you need anything wake me up, okay?" She said worryingly.

"Yes mom, I'll do that." Leon said sarcastically.

After his mother left Leon sat on the side of his bed and started thinking. His eyes turned red again as the red aura was released again.

"The only way to break out of a dream world is to kill yourself in it. Dying should forcefully eject you out, if this is a dream I should be able to wake up in the real world. But if this is reality..." Leon laughed and shook his head. He stopped thinking 'if' and laid on his bed. It was time to ascertain the situation.

With his eyes looking at the ceiling, he put his left hand on his heart. His hand lit up as it covered with the red aura, or what he liked to call it, slaughter qi. The slaughter aura fluctuated as he moved his hand up.

The slaughter aura had coated his heart, and with the separation of his hand the heart stopped beating. He had died. His eyes wide open, mind blank and blood flow slowing. He stopped breathing as his brain blanked.

The hand fell back down lifelessly onto his chest. Like an electric shock it made the heart beat again. Blood flowed as Leon got up and took deep breaths.

"I momentarily died, yet I'm still here. Looks like I really did go back in time." Leon was filled with mixed emotions. It was this combination of happiness, confusion, and a little hopelessness as he thought about his cultivation.

"Going back in time..." The realisation was a little hard to take, even for him. As a Summoning Grandmaster he had seen mountains risen in seconds and the seas split by the wave of a hand. But time travel was completely breaking the law of this world.

He raised his hand and looked at the red gas returning into his hand, "At least now I have more time to figure out a way to deal with the draw back of using you."

"Now to check my internal situation as well." Leon closed his eyes and entered a 'space' inside his body. It was where the soul seed or soul book, the core of a summoner was stored.

The soul space was a dark space inside his body. It was completely empty. Just plain darkness. But this darkness had a weird feel to it. Leon closely looked to it and he could tell it was twisting and turning. It was just hard to tell as everything was black. If their was light he was sure he would see this whole space in disarray.

"My soul book didn't come with me, nor have I formed a soul seed. Forming my soul seed should be my priority for the next three months. I'm already 12 so I have three months left until the end of the year, the time when the awakening ceremony is held. This ceremony will be last chance in becoming a summoner."

A Soul space was formed in almost every person that was born. It would shrink as time went by and by the age of 13 it would completely collapse. A collapse of a soul space meant being a cripple for the rest, never being able to cultivate. In his past life he had awakened it at the age of 5, making him the youngest summoner to ever awaken.

"But this soul space, something is clearly wrong. This is too unstable for forming a soul seed. It's like it's at a war with itself. If this goes on, it won't take long for it to collapse and when that happens rather then being a cripple, I'll die."

The soul walked through the space. Although the space looked like it was quite big because of the never ending darkness, it was only a few steps wide. The boy walked out of the darkness and appeared in a room.

The room was the same as his bedroom. The bed wasn't made and looked as if some one had gotten out of it. Other then that there was an additional door sized mirror stuck on the wall.

Leon walked up to the mirror and looked at himself. It was his soul from his past life. A twentish year old handsome man stood, his body well built. He had long white hair tied up in a pony tail. His irises were a ruby like red. He wore a black shirt, pants and boots. But over the shirt he wore a bright blood red coat with the buttons undone. The coat had its sleeves pushed up to his elbows.

The coat was made from some type of high quality beast fur. It's length extended down to his knees. The coat also had a hood hanging on the back.

This was how he had looked the day he died. It was the form his soul had taken.

Leon wasn't admiring his appearance in the mirror. No, he was looking at the reflection of the bed. The bed in the mirror had someone sleeping on it. While the bed in his room was empty.

From the place where he was standing he could see who it was. It was himself. It was the younger version of himself. The boy sleeping had the exact appearance as he had seen of this body in the pond.

"So the soul of my present body didn't die. It's just in a dormant state. I can see why I am so weak and why the soul space is so unstable. A human body wasn't made to support two souls."

Leon reached his hand out trying to go through the mirror. However the moment he touched it a blue electric current came out and shocked his hand back.

"Heavenly Lightning?" Leon arrogantly humphed as he quickly drew a rune using his slaughter qi on the mirror. "Shatter."

*SHINK* *CRACK*

The mirror had spider web like cracks spread out from the rune. Pieces fell off at first, then whole the mirror collapsed onto the floor.

Leon nodded and turned around. The bed in his room had the soul of his present self sleeping in it.

"I should be able to combine with it now. Something that should have happened when my soul had entered this body."

Up next to the bed Leon stood. He slowly moved his finger closer to the sleeping Leon's forehead. He felt a strong repulsion until he was an inch away where it felt like he hit something solid.

"You know this won't work, why bother." Leon said, his finger lit up with a red light as it broke through the shield and touched the sleeping Leon. Lightning like sparks out but weren't able to do anything to him.

The sleeping Leon broke up into a gas and crawled up Leon's hand and was absorbed into his body.

Leon's soul changed. It turned into a mixture of the two souls that had been inhabiting the body. He first grew shorter matching the size of the body. His hair grew shorter and turned grey from white. One of his eyes turned black. His clothes also shrunk with him, except for the coat. His arms were deep in his sleeves, the coat also now dragged on the floor as he moved.

The soul space outside calmed down and started to stabilize, he felt like he could finally start breathing properly. His body could finally take in elemental energy. However the fusion stopped mid way.

"Only partial fusion? We were the same being, we should have become one almost instantly-" just as Leon finished the thought 12 lightning needles formed around his neck, piercing towards it.

*TIIINNNG*

The sound of metal clanging rang. The twelve 9.9 inch needles of condensed heavenly Lightning didn't pierce his neck. Rather they were stopped by a ring of Slaughter qi around his neck, forming a halo like spiked collar, where the body of the collar was the slaughter qi and the needles were the spikes.

Leon understood that he had been put in a trap from the heavenly lightning. They weren't meant to kill, they were just their as a threat and a way of restricting the slaughter qi. Now Leon would have to continuously hold the ring around his neck in the soul space or his neck would be pierced.

Sitting on his bed, Leon opened his eyes in the real world.

"The heavens seem to still want to kill me."

Leon whispered. The lightning that had been sealing away his other soul and attacked him was heavenly Lightning, the law enforcer of the world.

"I have gained all the memories of this life till the age of 5 after partially fusing with the other soul. Their is some kind of blockage stopping me from seeing all my memories and completely fusing." Leon said to himself.

"So now I understand what is happening and why the situation is so different. On the day I was born, when my mother was holding me, a lightning bolt came from the heavens, broke through the roof and directly struck me and my mother."

"The lightning bolt was sent to eliminate my future soul that had just been transferred had been transferred through time. However the slaughter qi protected me so the lightning bolt changed strategy and sealed me away. This way it would allow my body to continuously strain itself away supporting two souls. Using my own energy weakening me as well as the bodies own life force for that support, this is why it was so weak."

"But my future soul broke out from its seal, when the slaughter aura recovered from blocking the heavenly lightning. So the heavenly lightning moved to seal away the younger soul on the outside. While it actually set a two purpose trap to seal some of my slaughter qi while it still weak and block the complete fusion ."

"I just woke up and I already have a knife to my throat!" Leon laughed.

He then took in a deep breath, and an expression full of scorn formed, "All things are fair in the end. Even the heavens have a limitation to the power they can use."

"After the lightning bolt on the day of my birth, which was sent to correct the planet by removing a law breaker, the heavens can't sent another one for a while. They aren't allowed to wantonly disturb the world of mortals. They can only act at specific moments. Such as when a World Law is broken."

"The next time I'll come in contact should be when I break into Summoning Master and have to go through Heavenly tribulation. I'll need to start preparing."

Leon nodded, the heaven had failed in eliminating him in his past life when he awakened his slaughter aura and in this life when he moved their through time.

"The heavens must really think I'm some type of cockroach that just doesn't die."

Outside the clouds cleared and let the moonlight pour into the room. Leon walked to the window and looked outside. The bright fireball on top of the tower had dimmed which allowed the moon to seen. Then looked at the dark and quiet houses.

"It is already midnight. I spent around five hours in the soul space. Nobody should be at the training ground at the moment."

With that thought Leon tip toed out of the house and slowly closed the main door behind him.

"I need to figure out a way to deal with the heavenly lightning and the draw backs of the slaughter qi. As for revenge, now isn't the time to think about it, if I don't even awaken soul book, I might as well start practicing how to act like a good corpse." Leon said to himself as he walked out.

Revenge against his past life enemies that led to his death didn't motivate him at the moment, he was to weak to even bother thinking about such matters. However, in the close future he would gladly be their guide to Hell.
