Chapter 3: The College and the News
She always wanted to become a doctor. But that was not a decision she can make for herself. Her dad wants her to join Business school so that she can become a business woman who can help him in his business in the future. She like business but it was not her passion. But the choice was already made by her dad. That's why she is going to attend the business school.
She spent the time before attending the college with her brother. But she barely had time to see him, because she was helping her parents in their company's main branch. Since from birth she was forced to do many things related to their family business, so now she is OK with it. Even if she wants to refuse to do these things, her parents won't give any second thought of her feelings. They always preferred business first than the family. So she learned to do these things just to satisfy them.
She took her brother with her when her parents arranged meetings with any important guests. Since he will become the company CEO in the future, she really wanted him to see how these things are getting done. She thought it is good to be with him. Also, they are not together most of the time, so they have to make time for each other.
After a few days, they met so many business tycoons just to make some deals with them and to ask their cooperation with them. It all went smoothly, and they both had a great time together.
After a few days,
Her father told her to visit him at his study room. So she went there and saw that he is standing near the window facing outside. He seemed to be lost in deep thought, so she cleared her throat lightly to show her presence and to get his attention.
"You are here. Come I need to talk to you about the college you are going to attend and also your future plans." Her dad told her.
When he finished the sentence, her mom entered in to the room with her brother. She didn't understand the situation completely. So she just stood there and listened to them.
"Shanell, we decided to have your engagement with Mr. Joseph Morrison's elder son, the CEO of the International company Zeus Corporation, the multi-billionaire Mr. Zeus Joseph. You will be eighteen in two months and after that we can have the wedding ceremony. Also, you will be attending the College XX Business Studies and Management in a few days. You can continue your studies after your marriage as well." Her mom told her.
A shock wave went through her whole body, and she stood there with a confused gaze. When she looked at her brother he also had a puzzled look on his face.
"What, sis is getting married in two months? No way. Dad she is only turning eighteen in two months. How can you do something like this to her? She needs someone who will love her whole heartedly. But this is not love or care its purely business." Her brother argued with their parents.
She didn't say anything. It was huge news for her. Her head was filled with many thoughts right now, like, How can she get married like this? What the hell is going on? She is only eighteen not thirty? Why did her parents want her to marry some rich guy suddenly? And who is this Zeus Joseph? Then she heard her dad's voice.
"Shane, don't start arguing with me. This engagement was arranged for a long time. So be a good boy and study hard to become successful like your future brother-in-law."
WHAT?? BROTHER-IN-LAW? She was dumbfounded by the word itself. Also, what is this long time arrangement? Why did she never know anything about it?
"WHAT?? Long time? Wow... How come we never know anything about it dad?" Her brother became furious and asked again.
"Joseph and I are friends for a long time. We started business together. When we got married we promised each other to become in-laws in the future. And now it is time for us to keep our promise. You have got enough explanation and information. So make yourself ready for the marriage, both of you." Her dad told them.
"Yes dad." They both replied with an unhappy tone in their voice and a disappointed look on their face. She wanted to reject this proposal very much, but she doesn't know how she will explain that to her parents. She has never met this guy once in her life then how can she agree to this marriage. Her mind becomes a trash by hearing the extremely shocking news.
She called Veronica at the moment she reached her room. She asked her for the 'E. T.'. It is the term they used in their gang of friends for extreme trouble of anyone in their gang. She immediately contacted the 7 member friends group and announced to meet at their favorite place in the city 'The MORE Cafe'.
It is the place where they can be safe and discuss their problems in privacy. The owners of the cafe knew the girls very well; the girls were like a daily customer to them. They always make the girls as their top priority. They leave the girl's favorite table always reserved for them every time. The girls loved them and they loved the girls too.
