Chapter 2: Chapter 2

A man with broad shoulders, in a white, button-up shirt and black dress pants, sat at a desk that had a small pile of papers stacked in front of him. A window behind him as the light slowly faded as the sun dropped completely out of view.

The man's room lit gently by his desk lamp, illuminating his sharp face. Black hair combed back, by his hands from the morning stress of his chaotic pack, defined jaw loosening as he relaxed a bit. Gray eyes soft, yet can turn cold in an instant, like the temperatures of space were trapped within. His tanned skin a little lighter from the lack of being outside, a thing that he has been trying to solve.

The man gazed at the small shelf off to his right, that held the few books he found interesting. The window behind him casting eerie shadows, as they fought with the desk lamp's glow. The dark curtains hung loosely by the windows edges, as the man stood up and closed them gently.

The doors of the room, that lined up with the man's desk, were opened by Zack as he closed them behind him. "I'm sorry to bug you, Alpha, but the woman is within the guest room down the hall."

The man nodded and stared into Zack's green eyes, "Zack, what did I say about you calling me Alpha all the time?" Amusement within the man's deep voice, as he walked around his desk and smiled softly.

Zack chuckled, "Sorry Logan, it's out of habit."

Logan growled, the sound of a beast, as he glared at Zack, "Do not lie to my face, Beta. I know you do it to bug me," Logan's gray eyes twitched in irritation.

Zack smiled, "Well it's good to see you're still the same after all these years," honesty sharping wildly in his soft green eyes.

"You too, Zack. How is Dalia?" Logan asked as the lad back conversation ended.

Zack's smile dropped and his eyes darkened, as his wolf begged to let out a whimper, but Zack held it back. "She's doing as good as she has last week... thank you for being concerned, Logan." Zack's green eyes watered.

"She'll pull through Zack, your bond is stronger then your strength, she will not leave you." Logan gently said as he pulled Zack into a friendly hug, patting his back as Zack did the same.

Zack chuckled sadly, "You and your words...but thanks Logan." The small gesture given to the Beta made him feel better, "I'm gonna head out, thanks again Logan." Zack turned and opened the right side of the double doors, "And Alpha don't forget the girl."

The door called after Zack as Logan shook his head with his eyes pitched in irritation, "Really Zack?" He said mostly to himself, but chuckled, "Should've seen that coming."

Logan walked to his desk and turned his lamp off as he made his way out of his office and trudged to his room tiredly. Opening his door and closing it behind him, he sighed as he unbuttoned his shirt and draped it on the chair to the right of his closet, that lie perpendicular to his door way. Doing the same to his pants, Logan walked over to his left, where his drawers stood and pulled a pair of sweats from them.

Slipping them on, Logan turn to his left and walked to his bed as he settled in with his soft, dark blue blankets. His large bed feeling cold and empty, just like every other night before this one. For deep in Logan, his wolf whimpered loudly for his mate, for what Zack had. Someone who could complete him. To feel that he had a purpose.
