Chapter 567: I Am Mane Harbinger: XIII

Once it was over Mane slumped to the ground in exhaustion. Though his part seemed the simpler between himself and Odin, he was still facing someone much more powerful than he was. The suppression alone took most of his strength to overcome. And that last strike had been performed with every bit of soul strength he could muster. Odin's figure appeared next to Mane's like a specter. The God King of Asgard watched his descendant with a gaze that spoke of his impression of the boy – he was proud. The little he had seen was good enough.

"It isn't over, is it?" Mane asked tiredly.

"No," Odin replied. "You will have a real fight on your hands when you get back." The God King of Asgard advised.

"Yay" Mane mocked himself with a wry smile on his face.

"You have elements of both your parents in you." Odin commented as he moved closer to Mane.

"That is what I have been told," Mane smiled faintly and reclined himself to the ground.

He raised his head to allow his eyes capture the image of Huginn and Muninn flying in the sky. No matter how much Mane looked, he couldn't find anything that made them appear unordinary from the normal ravens. Their feathers were just as darkened and their beaks just as pointy. Yet when Mane gazed at them, he didn't see them as ordinary. Even before they had pecked out the Origin King's pupils and displayed their frightening speed and strength, Mane saw the unordinary in their ordinary appearance.

"Huginn and Muninn – their names," Odin sat next to Mane and pulled back his hood, revealing his long golden hair. His gaze traveled beyond the confines of this realm – beyond the boundaries of the Mind Scape – looking for what only he would know.

"Those are strange names to give birds," Mane turned to face Odin to study the stranger's features. He engraved everything he saw into his mind, a task that wasn't difficult for the Allfather's presence was not easy to ignore neither was the knowledge of his prowess nonchalantly disregarded.

"Is that so? Don't let them know that you said that." Odin let out a small chuckle as Huginn and Muninn croaked loudly in the sky.

"I think they already did," Mane turned his head away and returned to looking at Huginn and Muninn. The two ravens roamed the sky for another few seconds before descending.

"Did they?" Odin smiled and readjusted his seating position with the dormant Gungnir resting on his shoulder. The spear that never misses was back to its non-combat form. And Mane couldn't help but wonder if Harch was capable of same.

"Your axe has its own dormant state. As for what it is, time will tell." Odin seemed to read Mane's mind.

He lightly span Gungnir. And with each twirl the Allfather's Chief Weapon transitioned between states. At one moment it was the accurate spear and in the next it was the unassuming staff. Mane was fascinated by this, so much so that he didn't notice that Huginn and Muninn had landed on his shoulder. Their sharp claws would have torn the flesh and broken the bones of any mortal or lesser man. Luckily for Mane, he was neither.

*Croak*

*Croak*

Huginn nuzzled cozily against Mane and Muninn gently prodded the young Supreme.

"Hehe. Alright." Mane giggled. He snapped his fingers and like a man full of tricks red flames swiftly engulfed him – and the birds who sat on his shoulder.

*Croak!*

*Croak!*

Huginn and Muninn immediately got excited. The uncommon ravens gobbled up the flames like they were snacks. The very flames that could hurt a False Ascender were nothing but food to the two birds. And Mane's fire was swiftly consumed. However, Mane was like an ever burning flame. No matter how much they swallowed, more kept sprouting out of the young Supreme's body. And the Allfather's ravens were pleased by this.

"You understood them?" Odin was a bit surprised by Mane's interaction with his companions. He understood Huginn and Muninn because they were his. He was slightly surprised that Mane could understand them when he had just met them.

"I unlocked Beast Language Comprehension some years back. I have a few beast companions of my own." Mane caressed Huginn's shiny feathers and said. It was comforting to do nothing but admire the beauty of another creature. He had been embroiled in too many tricks of late.

"I see. Well, the Fairy System does have its uses." Odin nodded his head and said.

"Do we have more time?" Mane asked. He could feel his consciousness slipping away. And he knew – he was being called back to the real world.

"Yes – a few minutes."

It was Odin's turn to snap his fingers this time. And Mane felt the beckoning feeling disappear.

"It won't last for long. So ask what you want to ask." Odin reminded Mane, and the young Supreme nodded his head. While he didn't know what Odin had done to effect the situation, the Allfather had. So the time had to be used wisely. He took his attention off the ravenous birds and asked the questions he needed answers to.

"You are the one they call Allfather, aren't you?" Mane needed to be sure that he was speaking to whom he thought he was speaking to. The fairies called his ancestor Allfather. And since the man had his mother's hair, Mane reckoned that he was from his mother's side.

"I am. But you can call me Grandfather." Odin replied.

"You are my mother's father?" Mane asked in surprise.

"No. I am her grandfather. Accurately speaking, you are my great grandson." Odin was clearer this time.

"I see. Who is my mother's father?" Mane wondered.

Mane had heard his mother speak several times about her father. She clearly loved the man. And unlike his father, his mother didn't seem to have any bad impressions of her family. Even Ray was fonder of Alexis's family than Alexis. Mane had heard his father talking about how much he missed his duels with Alexis's dad. And the young Supreme already had a mental image of his grandfather – a brute with shoddy hair and nothing but war on his mind. That was why he found it hard to believe when Odin called himself his grandfather.

"Well, his name is Thor. He looks like this." Odin gestured to the sky above, and several dark clouds gathered to conjure the image of a man so bright and handsome that Mane was momentarily stunned.

"He isn't like what I pictured," Mane confessed and replaced the image in his mind with this one. Now he understood where his mother got her good looks from. For Thor was very good looking and Mane could smell his groovy charm even from his image.

"Yes. He isn't like what many picture him to be" Odin chuckled and wiped the image from the sky with a wave of his hands.

"Is Butler Fin from your homeland or my father's?" Mane asked. He had many questions. And he reckoned that now was the time to ask them.

"Well my homeland – and yours – is called Asgard. Butler Fin is Asgardian. He is one of our key gods. We are Asgardians." Odin didn't hold back. There was nothing he wouldn't say; no answer he was unwilling to give; especially if it will throw the others under the bus.

"Then what is he doing serving me breakfast?" Mane asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Hahaha. He said he wanted to see you grow." Odin chuckled and said. "He was very excited when you were born. And against my wishes he left his post and moved to Zandor with your father."

"I see," Mane felt warmth from that answer. Hearing that a god of great authority had given up everything for you was reflective of how highly they regarded you. It took a great amount of love to perform a great act of sacrifice.

"He seems much closer to my father than my mother. I always assumed he was from my father's clan; that he was one of the few my father was on good terms with." Mane stated.

He wasn't expecting that Butler Fin would be from his mother's clan. For the man was closer to his father. So it was a bit surprising to hear.

"That is because when your father abandoned his heritage and cursed Olympus, Butler Fin was the one who took care of him. He had been watching over him from the moment your grandmother – your father's mother – left." Odin once quick to give answers once again. And Mane appreciated the older man's keenness to provide solutions to each question.

"That makes sense then," Mane nodded his head and said. "Was my father's mother ordinary?" Mane suddenly asked, deviating from his earlier line of questioning.

"Oh? Why do you ask?" Odin was taken aback by the question. And for the first time since the question and answer session began, he asked a question.

"Because my bloodline has a few question marks on it. If she was human, her race would have been indicated as part of my bloodline. But it is not so. So, who was she?" Mane's eyes sparkled radiantly. This was something he had been seeking the answer to for the longest time. And Odin didn't disappoint him.

"She was a Weapon Master," Odin sighed. "And she was strong."
