Chapter 4: An offer that can’t be refused
I will admit it. The man that was sitting in front of me was not only a handsome young man, but also smart and interesting. Telling him the truth won't harm, he already knows most of it anyway.
"Well, you are correct, extra sense." Even if he is right, I am not going to spare him from my sarcastic remarks!
"I can make you forget about your ex boyfriend for at least one night, if you want to." I raised one eyebrow automatically. Are all men so shameless? As if answering my thoughts, he continued: "If I wasn't shameless, I wouldn't have said that. I promise to make you forget about your sorrow and satisfy you, and if I break my promise, you may castrate me."
"You are quite specific for your punishment, don't you think so?"
"I am confident enough that I can keep up on my promise. I don't remember breaking my word at any point of my life"
"Watch out so you won't explode from your ego and gigantic self confidence."
"I knew you are the most colourful lady in the room tonight."
"Pardon?" Colourful? I was as pale as a sheet of paper! I always joked around on how I get burned from a lightbulb and the moon, and how my skin reflected the sunlight perfectly.
"I meant your personality, don't be silly." Can he read my mind or... "Your face is very expressive." He is not the first person to tell me how expressive my face is. It's still was quite scary how he picked up on the smallest details. And I don't even know his name...
"Oh my, where are my manners? I haven't even introduced myself yet."
"You don't have to."
"Pardon?"
"Let's say you don't want to know my name and I don't want to know your name. Are we clear?" Oh man, no need to be so aggressive and mysterious!
"Yes.."
"Good. So what do you say about my offer?"
"To be intimate with a man when I don't even know his name? A very interesting offer, but I would have to decline..."
"I will not search for you and will not approach you as long as you wish. My offer is for the sake of having some fun and making your friend feel accomplished." It sounds like an offer that Sam can't refuse. And I couldn't refuse either.
"Frankly, I don't see any downside of having some fun. I just hope you won't disappoint me."
"As I said, you may castrate me if I break my promise."
"Still a harsh punishment."
"I like to play dangerously." So much confidence in one man. Honestly, I got excited a bit because of his confidence. Perhaps it was just because I always restrained myself from being reckless just to be a good example for Lily. But right now, I didn't care anymore. I have never been on this kind of adventure. Trying and having fun are not forbidden, right?
"Is it okay if I ask for a few minor details for before we get engaged in some private activities?" I still needed to make sure on a few details, there is no place for errors and irresponsibility!
"Do you even trust me that I will not lie to you?"
"I know you will not lie to me, as it won't satisfy me if you do lie. Your lies will result in the break of your promise and your own castration." A smirk appeared on my face as he raised his eyebrows in surprise. Got you now, danger man!
"What a sharp mind! Go ahead, ask."
"Your age, marital status and how much have you drank this evening?"
"That's it? You don't care about where I live and what my job is?"
"No, just those details that I asked for." I could guess that he doesn't live somewhere luxurious or on campus, and I'm not going to visit him anytime in the future so there is no need to know. His job... well, he could be a hitman and I still wouldn't care. This information won't be of help for me anyway. I asked for his age as I don't want to do anything with an old man, his marital as I don't to be someone's affair. Also, Sam told me of her time with someone who drank too much and it wasn't the best experience. I want to avoid that as well. I have no reason to repeat the mistakes of others!
"24, the hot heartbreaker bachelor in the neighbourhood, 2 glasses of whiskey. Anything else?" He answered my questions patiently, so any other man would give up quickly. Could it be that..?
"When have you met my friend in the past, excluding today?"
"..." he was looking at me for a few seconds, and then he put his head on the counter. I could hear a soft, quiet laughter as his shoulders were shaking.
"What? Your patience for a man is surprising, you know a lot about why I'm here, and there is a possibility that my dear friend could set me up with you. It's only logical to ask!" He lifted his head, still giggling, he looked at me.
"Your friend is quite a handful, isn't she? Don't worry, never met her before. She would say the same"
"And I would surely ask her!"
"Just so it will be fair, would you tell me your age, marital status and how much you have drank?" He said it in a tone that left no other choice but to answer him. Of course it was only fair to tell him.
"21, not a very desirable bachelorette and I haven't even finished a pint of beer." Because it was so disgusting!
"Then shall we?"
"Certainly, if you don't mind, I will go and delight my friend with the good news."
"I will wait here eagerly for your return."
