Chapter 3: ☯The Last Day of Peace☯

As the sun rose on the horizon, the once quiet encampment area had now once again started to get busy, and this time, people are more eager to do their job, especially the children as they could only enjoy this last day before departing towards the central continent where the battle royale will take place.
On the east side of encampment area, there's a small camp with a black banner with a white butterfly knife impaled on fruit as their logo. As this banner flapped because of the breezy and fresh wind, the tent below had been opened.
A large person with a well-built body walked out the tent, not only that the aura he radiates was also intimidating. He had black eyes and black hair; he had a beard, and his eyes were fierce.
As he walked out of his tent, he took a deep breath before exhaling slowly. "Good." He mumbled, he looked towards the tent on his front, "That brat is still not awake yet?"
He walked towards that tent, and when he was about to open the tent, he stopped in the middle of doing it. Soon, a smile crept upon his serious face, and his aura suddenly went berserk as he released his qi. Making a grabbing motion on his hand, a small amount of berserk aura compressed above his hand, creating a ball of qi.
"Son, wake up!" He shouted, however, he was ignored.
"Waaaake uuup~!" He shouted once again, like before it was ignored again
"Alright you little sh*t, Eat this breakfast!" The man laughed as he swung his hands towards the tent, and the ball of qi flew towards the tent with incredible speed.
*Bang!*
Soon, the voice of youth screamed in pain, "AHH! Dad, you almost hit my wiener!"
Hearing this, the man outside the tent laughed, "Hahaha! That's what you get!" when he was about to grab the tent to enter inside, a figure leaped out.
Ray, who had his face running with cold sweat leaped out. He then clenched his fists and launched a punch contained powered by qi with his qi condensation level.
Seeing this, the man smiled with his eyes closed. While shaking his head, he lifted one of his hands, and with a swift move, he slapped Ray on the head.
*Bang*
Ray's entire body slammed on the ground before even having a chance to hit his father.
"You still have a long way son before you could beat your old man to death." Ray's father smiled satisfyingly.
"Oh yeah? Then try this!" As soon as Ray said that, the qi on his fist turned into a streak of light before directly hitting the groin of his father.
"You- Argh! My balls!" Instantly feeling the pain, Ray's father quickly grabbed his groin area before kneeling on the ground with a *thud*, now both father and son were kneeling the ground.
"Hehe, you old bastard, how'd you like that huh?" Ray laughed.
"Y-you damned brat, I'll beat the sh*t out of you if I end up being eunuch!" Still feeling the pain on his groin, he couldn't act against his son as he could only clench his hand while his body was intensely shaking, not because of frustration but the pain itself.
"Shut it you old womanizer, let that be a good lesson, I bet mom would want that heh!" Ray laughed before standing up and quickly moved away from his father. It wouldn't be any good if he stayed here, if his father got recovered from the pain, he would surely make his ass ripe as an apple.
Seeing his fleeing son away from him, his anger in his eyes dissipated and soon it turned into a soft wry smile as he shook his head, although there's still a pain in his groin he could only kneel on the ground for a moment before he could stand up.
"Haha, Mary, our son is really a mad lad… I hope your spirit can guide him." He laughed before softly saying.

Ray lightless, he was a young master from a small clan and was born on year 3028 on the day of 24. Due to his birth, his mother suffered from losing too much blood, which leads to her peaceful death after seeing the face of her baby. His father, Jordan Lightless, is a 34 years old clan patriarch, he had decent cultivation reaching to Nascent stage, where many considered it as the peak of what ordinary cultivators can obtain.
Cultivation on this world is complicated that will always be needed to be balanced, there are four initial stages on cultivating a 'Mad qi,' Mad qi is a unique type of heaven and earth energy created by the god of madness himself. Since the world is purely made out of mad qi, it is only natural that the most abundant energy on this world is a mad qi.
People in this world cultivate this energy to be a cultivator, as they have the will to become strong and dream of being able to reach heaven and look down on people. However, being a unique type of energy, this energy is not considered 'friendly.'
Because this type of energy has pros and cons. The advantages being able to multiply the strength of a person by a factor of two and have their will strengthened, however, the disadvantages are, it consumes the sanity of a person, the more they absorb this mad qi, the more power they obtain they get more insane.
However, one can bypass that problem if the cultivator has the talent or skill to harness another type of energy, and that's spiritual energy.
Every cultivator has spiritual energy inside them, this type of energy can be controlled and cultivated that would further help to cultivate the mad qi.
There are nine stages on cultivating spiritual energy, and so there are also nine stages on cultivating the true mad qi, from qi origin, soul stage, punishment stage, and so on.

Ray's father, Jordan, had reached the stage of Nascent stage of cultivating mad qi, for ordinary cultivators, this is already a great feat. Unfortunately, his talent on cultivating his spiritual energy is worse, and because of that, he can't further cultivate his mad qi, afraid that it would turn him into an insane person and losing himself in the process, in fact, he was already lucky that he can still sustain his sanity despite being on the last stage of initial cultivation of mad qi where most people had turned into mindless insane cultivators.
Ray was born with average talent, which is a little bit better than the ordinary cultivators. Although he doesn't have a fantastic background as for both of his parents are ordinary cultivators, he can still be proud because he has a strong will that ordinary people can't compare to. If his father is to describe him, his answer would be, "He has the balls, and it's made out of steel."
Jordan is an adventurous cultivator only to stop when he finally has a family, although he lost the half of his heart, his love remained because of Ray, the fruit of their love with his wife.
And Ray, like his mother, loved to listen to the adventures of his father. And because of that, he told to Jordan that one day, he would tell his own experience to his father and show how great he had become on the process, so that Jordan and his mother, Mary, would be proud of him.
Ever since he had promised that it was also the day that Ray practiced martial arts and study cultivation before initiating on absorbing mad qi.
Because of his strong will power and understanding of the qi, his initial path on cultivation flows smoothly.

Far away from the encampment area on a small hill, a small figure was sitting cross-legged as Mad qi on the surrounding was smoothly flowing towards Ray's small body. Inside his consciousness, he was looking at a vast lake of red qi, this is the madness qi that he had accumulated on these past years.
He needed to accumulate a vast amount of Mad qi to form his foundation so that he could finally create a much more stable and secure dantian.
While he's smoothly absorbing the mad qi, two small figures were approaching towards him. These two were naturally Ray's friends, Mark and Kate.
"As usual, he's still cultivating." Kate sighed when she noticed Ray before approaching him with Mark right beside her.
The two of them sat on the ground facing Ray, the two of them are sitting shoulder to shoulder and looking on quiet and calm Ray who's sitting like an unmovable mountain, they can't help to think that the two of them are facing a great buddha, and what first came to their mind was like marriage.
The two of them couldn't help to have their heart palpitate wildly, and light blushes appeared on their cheeks. They didn't dare to move, afraid that he/she might find it rude, so they were in a helpless situation hoping that Ray would wake up soon.

Couple minutes had passed, both Kate and Mark had almost steam coming out of their head, and both are sweaty! They really want to separate now however they can't!
"You may now kiss the bride." Suddenly a familiar voice spoke out, the two bodies jolted when they heard this, Kate was the first one to move away from Mark before shouting at Ray, "Y-You! Have you been always awake!?"
"I don't knooow~?"
"What kind of answer is that!" Kate finally couldn't take it as she grabbed Ray's collar with both of her hands and shaking Ray intensely.
While letting himself being dragged by this girl, he couldn't help to be lost in thought, thinking that the two of them actually have a mutual feeling but afraid to admit to. He really couldn't help to feel bad on liking this girl… I guess I can only give up this time.
He couldn't help to smile, his smile was smooth, one could tell that he had somehow lost something but accepted it at the end… A smile of acceptance on losing a battle.
And the girl who had been almost choking him saw this smile.
"Ew! Why are you smiling like that, did you lose something important?" Kate pushed Ray away.
"Yeah, you."

"What?"
"What?"
"What did you say earlier? I didn't hear it."
"I said you are fat."
"…"
"Okay Ray, you really wanted some good beating huh!" Kate had her fists cracking, and when she was about to pounce Ray to beat him, Mark interrupted as he laughed.
"Hahaha, you two just stop, you're making me jealous."
"Oh! So you wanted to be beaten up huh!" Kate had her eyes enlarged as she looked at Mark before moving her fist away from Ray, turning it towards Mark.
"Oh! Mark, I never knew you're a masochist." Ray acted as if he had found something disappointing and poked fun of him.
Hearing this, Mark quickly slashed out, "You're a masochist! I'm out of here!"

Hours had passed, the three of them sat on the hill facing the encampment area, and on the horizon, one could see the orange sun slowly sinking the great plains.
"So this is the last day of our peacefulness huh." Ray silently muttered that only Kate and Mark could hear.
"… Yeah." Both of them nodded, they couldn't help to have a heavy heart. Starting tomorrow, everything will be difficult.
The three of them went silent for a couple of minutes.
Kate looked at her side, her blue eyes were staring on his two friends, sensing her gaze made the two looked at her, "What's the matter?" Ray asked while smiling.
"Nothing, I just want to remember the faces of my shitty friends."
"Then I want to remember that fatty face of yours." (Ray)
"Wha-" (Kate)
"Not fair! I want to remember that crooked nose of yours!" (Mark)
"What did you say!?"
"Oh please madam, please forgive these filthy peasants for lying." Both Mark and Ray play as they acted.
"You better be! If you keep making fun of me like this, hmph! I might find someone else!"
Hearing this, both Ray and Mark are alarmed as they quickly stood up.
"H-haha, come on Kate, that's a joke."
"Y-yeah, you're the cutest female friend I have."
"Hmph, say's the guy who doesn't have friends other than us!" Although Kate was joking from the start, she couldn't help to enjoy seeing these two actings towards her.
Kate looked at Ray who's scratching his head in embarrassment, then looking at Mark who's secretly trying to hold back his laugh, remembering this face well on the depth of her mind, she couldn't help to giggle swiftly before giving them the most beautiful smile that made them gawked…
Sigh… I really love you guys…
