Chapter 2: The Forest of Danger
An hour before it was evening, a rumbling growl echoed in the forest, waking up the sleeping princess on the ground. She immediately stood up and checked her surroundings, only to find a black hungry wolf behind the tree she was resting on earlier. Her crystal green eyes widened, her expression filled with horror, she tried not to move nor make a single sound for when she did, she knows she'll be instantly done for. She stood there as the wolf slowly walked towards her small figure. She was too scared that she was trembling in fear, which only made her stumble and fall to the ground.
The wolf growled, wearing a more terrifying look on its face.
Out of nervousness, the princess talked, "Please, s-stay...", hoping that the wolf could understand their language.
But in reality, the said animal can't. The wolf made a couple more steps towards her before it growled again.
"No! Stop!!", the princess screamed, triggering the wolf in front of her as it barked louder than the rest of its growl.
Kathrina covered her eyes in fear with her own hands as she slowly accepted her fate. A growl was heard again before the atmosphere became silent. She kept her hands on her face and stayed still. Seconds have passed and she started to wonder why the barking has stopped and nothing horrifying has happened to her body yet. Soon, she carefully removed her hands from her eyes, praying to all of the gods to change the wolf's mind to eat her. As she looked up, she didn't saw a hungry wolf in front of her, rather a young fine man wearing a brown crinkled shirt, pieced together with a pants rolled up to the man's knees. Confusion was visible on the princess' eyes, making the young man chuckle.
"The wolf's long gone, Milady.", the man assured her.
"Who are you?", the princess asked politely.
The man smiled, "That's a first, you don't know me, princess.", he chuckled and continued, "I am Ricky, one of the King's loyal Servant.", he said while offering a hand to the princess to help her up.
"Ricky... Ricky Sanford?"
"The only one, Princess Kathrina.", the man replied with a smile.
The princess softens as she continued to talk, "You're the one whose always with my father, aren't you?"
"Perfect guess, I'm starting to think it's obvious.", Ricky playfully said.
The couple laughed to themselves and started to walk back to the castle.
"If I may ask, what would a princess like you would be doing here in the forest by the way?", the servant asked.
She sighed, remembering the conversation she had with her father before she ran away, and deciding to not burden her newly found friend with her own problems as she replied to him with, "Resting, what else would I be doing there?", then let out a few giggles.
"You could actually do other things there, Milady. Obvious example is to rest, second is to be a fragile thing for wolves to prey on, and many more.", Ricky stated with his eyebrows up, wearing a cheeky smile.
As soon as Kathrina heard Ricky's remark, she remembered to thank the man who saved him. She faced Ricky, closing her eyes and bowing her head in front of him.
"This is probably too late but, thank you for saving me.", the princess said with sincerity as she continued to lower her head.
"Princess, what are you doing?! You shouldn't bow to a servant--", Ricky was cut off by another man's voice that came behind them.
"What are you doing with my Fiancée?"
