Chapter 3: Engraved (3)
Krriiiil, krriiil,, the alarm clock kept sounding. Yvonne stretched her hand to silence the alarm but all her efforts proved futile. She then used the pillow to cover her head but the sound was very loud.
"Is the alarm trying to pick a fight with me!" she thought.
She mumbled incoherently and got up from the bed, she grabbed the alarm clock intending to throw it on the hard floor but something struck her mind preventing her from throwing the alarm clock. She placed it back to its position before entering the bathroom, she came out after some few minutes and jumped back into bed intending to continue her sleep but another intruder just had to happen ! Her phone.
She grumpily answered without looking at the caller ID . After some few seconds ,her small eyes widely opened.
(How could she have not looked at the caller ID before picking up? stupid stupid stupid) she scolded herself.
The call lasted for some few minutes and got disconnected.
All the sleepiness left her after the call, she hurriedly laid the bed and rushed to the bathroom.
Yvonne stood in front of the employment agency and heavily breathed out. she hope to hear good news today.
"Good morning Ma'am" Yvonne greeted
"Good morning Miss Qin" The woman responded
She held her breath and anticipated what Madam Claudia will tell her. Madam Claudia looked at the anxious girl and smiled. She couldn't forget this girl no matter what . This is because;
Yvonne, one fine afternoon a month ago came to look for job with her and interestingly, she came with her preferences: She wanted to work as a maid in CEO Tang's mansion and no matter what Madam Claudia offered ,she never accepted .
Madam Claudia for the past one month has been trying to convince the girl but not once did she see the girl shiver from her decision !
"Is either CEO Tang's mansion or CEO Tang's mansion !" Yvonne would always say
Gradually for a month,she has grown fond of the girl. She liked how courageous and determine Yvonne was and still is, but what amazes her most is when she offered for Yvonne to work in the Tang's old mansion and the girl rejected her offer !
That was when she realised the girl wasn't after money but What? She's yet to find out.
Yvonne stared with anticipating and hopeful eyes at Madam Claudia. Madam Claudia cleared her throat and stared back at her, they stared at each other as if they were in a staring competition !
Madam Claudia smiled and broke the eye contact, she then handed some forms to Yvonne for her to fill in her particulars.
She was hopping to see the girl jumping around and maybe hug her but what she saw made her perplexed. The girl's eyes were filled with sadness and nervousness ! She thought the girl was giving up but what happened the next moment made her chuckle.
Yvonne filled the forms and handed it to her a smile.
"Thank you very much Ma'am" she said
"You're always welcome, but don't forget to share the reason for your preference with me someday".
Yvonne nodded and turned to leave but before she could take a step ,her hands were held firmly
" Don't forget to come visit me whenever you're free" she said with hopeful eyes.
Yvonne smiled and hugged the woman who was in her early forties "I won't " she replied.
How could she forget someone who has been nothing but patient and caring towards her?
She's someone who always appreciate others efforts and pays good with good ,but for evil ones,she pays them with the same.
"Do unto others what you want others to do unto you!" this has always been her principle....
