Chapter 4: Invitation
"But you're going to college soon. You need money for your books, and other expenses. So, you can just keep it until you need money to buy those items." His mother insisted.
"It's still months away from the enrollment. You can just first use it for the daily expenses in the house." Joe said while he sits in the sofa and open his cellphone.
'I can make money easily with the cheat that I have.' Joe smirked in his thoughts.
"Okay. I will just double the money that I will give you when the enrollment starts." His mother said. She still has spare cash in her bank account, she can just give it to him in exchange of the compensation money.
"By the way mom, where's dad and the others?" asked Joe.
"Your dad has a part time this afternoon, while your sister returned to the city because she also still has her part-time today, and your little brother is out, maybe with his friends." mom said. It's Saturday today so there's no work for Joe's mother.
While Joe and his mother was having a conversation, his cellphone rings.
"What?" Joe asked after clicking the answer button.
"We are in front of your house. Come out." Babart said on the phone.
He heard some noise outside their house. He even heard someone yelling his name, he stands up and walk to the door and saw his friends outside.
"We're going to play basketball, do you wanna come?" Aldous said while dribbling a ball of basketball.
The dead Joe plays basketball with his friends every Saturday afternoon. They are not as good as professional basketball players, they only played for fun or exercise. He just came out of the hospital and his body is still aching. Maybe he will come and just watch the game. It's also good for him to know and feel what normal people do.
"Okay. But I won't play. I just came out of hospital. You know it's not easy to be hit by a truck and be able to walk." Joe said.
"Mom, I will go out first with my friends, they'll be playing basketball and I'll just watch them play." Joe told his mother that was on the living room sitting.
"Okay. Be careful. You just came out of the hospital. Your wounds are still not healed." his mom advised.
"Thanks, mom!" Joe thanked his mom, while he said to his friends, "Let's go!"
While they were walking to the court one of his friends talk.
"Tomorrow is Marian's birthday. She told me to tell you guys that, she will be celebrating her 18th birthday in Sea Water Resort. All of you should know what to bring. The party will start at 10am in the morning after mass." Mark said.
They lived in the same town and they attend the same primary school plus they were classmates until they graduate and go to different schools to further studies but still they were still close friends. The boys have attended the same public school but the girls studies in private schools.
Sea Water Resort is a beach resort that is not far from their town, it's an hour walk from Joe's house to the beach. The resort was owned by Marian's family. He's father was a seaman and he retired after building the resort to manage the resort. The beach resort was famous in the town and its neighboring town, even the people from the city comes to the beach to relax.
"Hmm. Will her girl friends attend the party?" Babart asked with a smile but not a smile.
"Maybe. It's her 18th birthday, she will surely invite her friends to attend the party. You all better act normal in the party or else we will be sent out of the resort by her father." Mark warned them. Because he knew that if these idiots really mess in the party they will be really sent out by Marian's father.
"Don't worry, it's a special day of our dear Marian. We will behave in the party." Paul said with a serious face.
"That's good to hear. Joe, Marian told me that she has a surprise for you, she also told me to remind you that if you don't bring a present for her she will not reveal her surprise for you. Haha!" Mark laughed. Because he knew what surprise Marian prepared for his friend.
"Bah, you know that I don't have money to buy her present but for the sake of my curiosity, I will give her a present." Joe said. He was shocked to realize that from the day he transmigrates, he already talks so much compare to his past life. 'I guess this is the influence of the dead Joe's memories.' Joe thought. But it's good that he realizes it early.
"That's good to hear. Haha!" Mark laugh again.
"Faster guys so that we will be matched first." Ashley said to the group. Then they run to the basketball court that was 10 meters away from them.
When they arrive at the basketball court there was already 10 people playing.
"We were late. Argh!" Ashley complained.
"We will just wait for the next match." Paul said to the group and he turned to the referee that was standing by the side "Hey! Ron, we will be next. You can also play with us, Joe can't play because he just came out of the hospital."
"Just say that you want to teamed up with me because you want to win the game and play the next round." Ron chided. Because he was a good player and everyone knows that.
"Bah! We can win the game even without you. We just want to complete our line up." Paul talked back. He knew that Ron was a good player but he won't admit it.
While Paul and Ron were arguing, Joe was observing from the side. From the memories of the dead Joe he finds that when you play you have to give a bet to make the more interesting.
