Chapter 2: Escalated

The night was already here. In the shadows, something catlike sat. In curiosity, I torched it to find only a hat.

May be I am getting consumed in darkness. As I laid my back on the sofa, I started reviewing the short but heavy moment between two souls.

He is broken yet would never let go of his prestige.

His loud snores echoed through the halls, conveying the deep slumber he was in. Nine hours since the noon and still in deep dreams. It was too much for him to take.

"Aloe?" It came out as a whisper.

"Madam." He was there in a few seconds.

"Please look after the old man. I am about to retire. If he needs to dine, cook some boiled vegetables. And add some sugar to it. Also ginger tea." He used to sip his tea making a loud whoosh. He perhaps still enjoys that. But...it's been a long time.

"Yes Madam. Good Night."

.

.

.

The bed still felt cold. How many years? No. It's never. The big glass panes shading a dim blue light into the room.

Damp and chilly.

Silent and silly.

It would be a better place when someone embraces you, descrying both the gentle warmness and playful moistness. I realised it sound too intense.

I dreamed. His panic on hearing her demise, his twitches on reminding he is still a father.

"Lyvia, where is she? I got her letter two weeks ago. But something came up." He excused himself to seek pity in an oblivious manner.

"She' gone" I said.

"Oh. May I get a glass of water before I leave?" He didn't get it.

"Lyvia Silverwrath hung herself in her pretty balcony, one week and five days ago. You are quite late." I recited in a monotonous voice like a parrot.

"Why?"  He was panting now, terror triggering inside him.

"Why? Yet to know, by the way, what did she said in the letter?" I put a pair of eyes on him.

The panic subsided and a scarlet blush took over. Amusingly disgusting.

"Just...Just normal greetings and well bidding." He took one sip of water and gulped it  down as a large chunk.

"Father, it's the 21st century, internet is a blessing." He wanted to hide in hole.

"Kasmeré, show him one the guest rooms. Father, take some rest, it was a  long journey. Later" He nodded and she escorted him to somewhere peaceful.

My father and his sister won't play letters to relive nostalgic days.
