Chapter 16: Louzheng
The streets were dim, old street lights were the only thing lighting up the road. It made it hard for Wang Ming to see what was happening outside of the car. Hd only heard sounds of arguing at first, so he didn't interfere he would compensate the taxi driver after. But then he heard screams, afraid it being the cab driver getting beat up he opened the door to look outside.
But it wasn't the taxi driver that was beat up, instead he saw three men groaning on the floor. Since it was too dark, Wang Ming couldn't clearly see their damage, but since they weren't unconscious, Wang Ming didn't think they're critically injured.
Looking at the cab driver, his body impressed Wang Ming. His muscles were all pumped, his biceps had to as big as Wang Ming's thighs. You could see the veins working hard to pump blood through his body. Wang Ming felt puzzled about why a man like him was working as a cab driver.
If he joined the underworld, he would soar in ranks. A guard company or the military would be a brilliant choice. Seeing that the cab driver had finished all the thugs quickly, he felt happy that he didn't need to make a move since he still felt woozy and tired from working and the wine.
But, just as Wang Ming thought they could go, he saw two cars arriving looking into the windows. They looked like thugs and most likely were reinforcements. So Wang Ming got out of the taxi to help the taxi driver. It wasn't his problem, but they definitely wouldn't let Wang Ming go either, they would most likely see him as an accomplice. Just pay them and get done with this, Wang Ming thought.
"Mister Wang, please go in the car, I will take care of this. You are my customer, so you are my responsibility."
Wang Ming felt impressed by the cab driver, he also understood that there's no way for the cab driver to run. Since if he does, they could find out who he was by checking the owner of the license plate.
"No problem, I can fight for myself. I don't think they will let me go, so why shouldn't I fight? Oh, What's your name? If we get out of this, you're going to be my permanent taxi driver."
"Louzheng, only Louzheng, I'm an orphan, so I don't have a last name. I hope you keep your words when we get out of this situation."
Wang Ming and Louzheng then tensed up both of their muscles, popping with blood veins. Blood pumping in their bodies, filling them with energy, and making their heads more alert. Wang Ming left the wood tube at the market, so he picked up stones from the ground and intended to throw them at the thugs. As a weapon instead.
The cars finally arrived, ten angry thugs hopped out of the vehicles, all holding a metal bat the leading thug held a knife and looking angry. He waved his knife in front of Wang Ming and Louzheng and barked at them.
"Who are you guys? To butt into Wang Gang's matters. Do you want to die? If you want to leave without being crippled, then hand over 10000 yuan, or else I think you guys will be bedridden for a long time. Just think of it as paying medical fees."
When Wang Ming heard his words, it shocked him as he didn't think Wang Gang would do the same despicable things that HouZi gang does, harassing civilians. Wang Ming heard from Peng Tong that Wang Gang is a big gang and earns a lot of money through their businesses, but that they're from the Wang Gang, made him feel relaxed. Since he had Peng Tong with him, if Peng Tong showed his face, they wouldn't dare to do anything.
"Are you from Wang Gang? Then you should know about Peng Zhong and his little brother Little Tong? I'm know him, so give me and him so face and back off."
Wang Ming wanted to scare them off as they're from Wang Gang he didn't want to fight with them. But the leader instead of being respectful and afraid seemed angry instead and ran towards Wang Ming, lunging forward with the knife in his hand. "Who are you to call Peng Tong like that, just look at yourself!"
Seeing the man lunging forwards with his knife, Wang Ming felt terrified, but his hands instinctively grabbed the hand that was holding the knife and pulled hard, making the man fall to the ground. Grabbing the knife, Wang Ming put it on the man's neck and calmly said.
"Why did you react like that? Peng Tong is my little brother, he's in the taxi. Now lie down obediently."
The leader felt dumbfounded he didn't know what was happening. A second ago he was lunging at the man in the wheelchair. Looking at him, his upper body looked firm, but he was confident since the man was in a wheelchair. But when Wang Ming grabbed him, he felt like a bear had caught his hand. He tried to struggle out of Wang Ming's grip but before he could he felt like a truck had hit his body, falling hard to the ground.
His head was spinning from the impact, but after hearing what Wang Ming said. He felt like someone took cold water and splashed it on his face. Still lying on the ground, he shouted at his men to get ready. If the man in the taxi weren't Peng Tong, they would storm them with their metal bats. He was arrogant before and wanted to 1v1, but seeing that he couldn't beat the man in the wheelchair, he would storm them with numbers.
Seeing the man was obedient, Wang Ming went to the other side of the car to wake up Peng Tong. But when he opened the door, he could see Peng Tong was sitting straight up and stared at the men outside through the windows. Wang Ming could see black veins at the side of his head, and it looked like his head would burst.
"Peng To..." Wang Ming couldn't finish his words before Peng Tong furiously opened the door and exploded out of the car.
"What do you guys think you are doing? Is this how we from the Wang Gang make money? Who is your boss? Who told you to do this?"
Wang Ming felt shocked to see Peng Tong exploding. He didn't know that Peng Tong could be like that, Peng Tong seemed too kind to react like this. But now Peng Tong resembled a drillmaster that was scolding the new recruits. There were even some that were tearing up, as Peng Tong not only scolded them but started hitting their heads. They all know this is the underworld. If you do anything wrong, you can lose your life. They still had their families to take care of, and this was how they made their money.
"Well, So Answer me!" Peng Tong slapped all of their faces one by one, then finally looking at the leader at last. "So why do you guys do this? And who are your boss?"
"We are sorry, big brother Tong. We didn't know that you were in the car. We just followed orders from Brother Zhou. We know nothing! We promise! We thought we were helping the Wang gang."
"Ok, all of you, report to headquarters and atone for your mistakes. Tell them that Peng Tong sent you guys, I will investigate this case if it has nothing to do with you guys, I promise the consequences won't be severe. But I warn you, we from the Wang gang don't extort civilians. We have our businesses, and that's how we make money. Also, take the brothers on the ground to the hospital."
As soon as Peng Tong said his last words, the thugs disappeared into their cars and drove away. Afraid that they might
Turning around to face Wang Ming and Louzheng and bowed 90 degrees. "I'm sorry, Big brother and Louzheng. I promise this does not represent how Wang Gang is. I promise to you I will investigate this and give you an answer and compensation. I hope you still want to be brothers with me, Big Brother Ming."
"I believe you, little brother. I saw how you reacted, even more I believe in your character, even if we just got to know each other, you don't need to worry since I didn't get hurt. It's ok." Wang Ming and Louzheng then went back into the car. Peng Tong, seeing that they didn't care about what happened, felt thankful and shouted.
"Thank you" before opening the car door and sat on the other side.
Finally, Wang Ming arrived at his house. He felt exhausted, almost like he had run a marathon today. But before going into the room he rented, he gave Louzheng 500 yuan and told him to find Peng Tong a nice hotel and he could keep the rest. Peng Tong and Louzheng wanted to protest, but Wang Ming just closed the door behind him and made his way to the house.
Knowing that Wang Ming wouldn't take no as an answer, they could only agree. Finally, opening the door to his room, Wang Ming collapsed on his bed and blacked out.
