Chapter 58: Paying One’s Debt
Walking into the room, his customer's families greeted him with angry and anxious looks. Though luckily all the poisoned customers were looking better already, what surprised him was none of them, looked at Wang Ming with hate, but with a deep curiosity.
They wanted to hear Wang Ming's explanation. They had all dined in big restaurants and knew how strict rules were with quality control. Though even if this wasn't Wang Ming's fault, they still wanted compensation. Well, except for Zhu Hang, who only wanted to talk more with Wang Ming.
Looking back at them, Wang Ming took a deep breath. Trying to not look meek but confident and professional.
"We At Wang's Family Restaurant are sorry for what happened. I'm not 100% sure of why there has been a wolfbane poisoning. All I can say is that someone deliberately poisoned the meat, I have a small lead and will work with the police to catch the perpetrators."
Most of the families hearing this didn't have any problem with it, as long as they got compensation. Since they had done their own research and Wolfbane poisoning luckily didn't have any lasting problems. As long as they caught the bad guy, of course.
But one family was not happy at all, but got enraged and demanded for Wang Ming to tell them who the suspect was. So they could get their own people to do the job, also they weren't too happy with Wang Ming's attitude. A small business like him should gravel at their feet and apologize. A middle-aged woman who was standing by the bed of one victim stood up and said.
"Who Are you? No, don't reply. I don't care. Just tell us who the suspect is and we will do the rest."
Then, laughing at Wang Ming's face obnoxiously, she followed up with.
"Relying on you? Then this would never get solved. Now go back to your little kitchen and cook some food, little puppy."
Wang Ming tried to explain to her that this was something he and the police would need to investigate. He didn't want anybody to think that Weng Ping had anything to do with this, not at least until he could talk with Weng Ping.
"I'm sorry, mam, but I can't. This is my restaurant's problem, so I will fix it. I will compensate 100 thousand yuan for everybody here, so I hope you won't pursue this anymore. But if you do, then I can tell you now that I have nothing else to give you. I will give you all a proper answer when I find the perpetrator, but I don't want to involve many people in this."
The middle-aged woman, hearing Wang Ming refusing her, got even more pissed off and got closer to Wang Ming. Before launching a slap towards Wang Ming, while shouting.
"Who are you calling MAM you poor piece of shit? Just listen to my commands!"
Though before the slap could hit, Wang Ming intercepted the slap. It had come fast and unexpected, but it was no problem for him. Even if he hadn't stopped it and let her slap him, he knew it would hurt her more than him. Wang Ming understood why she reacted like this, as he was expecting all the families to act like this, but he still didn't like her entitled attitude.
"Miss, don't do this, it's in a hospital even if your family member don't need it others need rest."
The middle-aged woman was about to go on another rampage, but Zhu Hong hushed her. Looking at Zhu Hong for the first time since coming inside the room. The woman felt her body go cold and think why this madman was here. So she let Wang Ming go for now.
"Ok, I will give you three days, if you can't give us the perpetrator by then. Then we will thrash you and your restaurant. Remember who I am and what family I come from. I'm Hun Meng I'm from the Hun Family, you are just an ant compared to the Hun family!"
Looking back at her family members she then said and smiled sweetly, totally different from how she was seconds ago.
"Hubby, let's get our darling son out of this room. It's only for poor people."
Her husband only smiled, seeing how she acted and got two nurses to move his son to the high-class wards.
Finally seeing them leave, Wang Ming sighed and looked at the 4 other families and asked in a soft voice.
"Are there any other complaints? Here are 4 checks with 100 thousand yuan each. I know it's not a lot for some, or maybe all of you. But please take it as compensation so I can be at ease, knowing that everybody has been compensated."
Giving the checks to them, Wang Ming felt relieved, since his compensation seemed to satisfy them all. After talking more with Zhu Han, Wang Ming could finally make his way back to the market, and figure out what had happened. But before he could, Zhu Hong said something which made him feel puzzled.
"Be careful, there's many bad people around you."
Wang Ming couldn't figure out what Zhu Hong meant with this, but didn't bother to decipher his words further. Since the only thing in his minds right now was to get back to the market and talk with Weng Ping.
Making his way outside the hospital, Wang Ming realized a big problem. He didn't have any way to get back to the market. There was roughly a 40 minute drive away, which would take him at least 2 to 3 hours to run. Something he didn't want to do since he wanted to get back as soon as possible.
You would think that there were lots of taxis being around here, since this is a hospital which meant big traffic of people most of the day. But Wang Ming waited around for 10 minutes and didn't see one, but then he heard someone screaming for him, making him turn around.
Turning around, Wang Ming saw a car. He didn't want to see ever again. Hoping that it wasn't him they shouted at, Wang Ming acted oblivious, but seeing the car stop in front of him, Wang Ming could only sigh.
