Chapter 2: A Powerful Lesson

I used to be on top of the world. My original sect did everything in their power to raise me. But I was a spoiled brat. I caused my own downfall. There was a newcomer to the sect. He wasn't as strong as me but my so called friends kept messing with him they kept on bullying him, so when he got stronger he went after them. He destroyed one their cultivation. Now I felt I had a duty to get revenge, even though they were in the wrong. It was not my place to get involved but my pride. I couldn't put it down.

So I attacked him and won. I then chased him out of the sect. I publicly humiliated him for no reason other than for shits and giggles. Two years later he comes back for revenge. I was cocky. I didn't think it possible for him to win. I didn't think it possible for me to lose. He destroyed my cultivation he would've killed me but my master thought he could save me. He wasn't strong enough to kill my master. But he tried. Almost succeeded to. But the other elders of the sect jumped in at the last minute. He was lucky he had an escape talisman but not before he took the lives of two elders. I was passed out for days afterwards.

When I finally came to my master told me I wasn't apart of the sect. So I gathered my stuff to leave and went to see my so called friends. They turned their backs on me. Not a word was spoken but I knew. They were never my friends. I was fifteen that year. I spent two months traveling. At the end of those two months

I found some no name sect they for some reason or another took me in. When I tried to tell them about my dantain they said no worries. I was standoffish at first. But soon my heart was warmed by their kindness. In the spring and summer I would nap under the tree with some of the younger children. I swear if I didn't know better I would think this place a home for the abandoned. They treated me so well. Not caring that I was crippled in the least, so I gave them all of my cultivation techniques. There were quite a few that I never gave up. Not that I had to.

I stayed there to teach the younger ones proper training techniques. And soon I just couldn't leave. I became an Elder maybe not in name nor cultivation but in practice there was none who would deny it. I helped raise it into a proper ninth rank sect. One day I was tired and began to nap by the tree. When I awoke I began to think on what kind of tree it was. I never heard of a tree with golden and silver leaves. Plus it never wilts. In addition the area around it was filled will soul energy. On that day the wind was strong. Some of the leaves fell and one of them landed on my stomach a light blinded me and then there was a searing pain even more painful then when my dantain was destroyed. The pain was so intense I blacked out. But not before I saw a ghostly figure appear in front of me. Worry dancing in its eyes. And I knew it was the spirit of the tree.

This tree was at least 160,000 years old. When I came to I was met with excited faces. They quickly explained what happened from what they knew. My dantain grew back. And more then that I was back at Spirit Realm Grade 3. They wanted to know how. But I refused to speak until I spoke to the sect master. When he visited I told him why my spirit ocean regrew. Because of the tree. I don't remember which leaf it was but it was definitely because of the tree. That night they prayed to the Heavens and to their ancestors for the mighty and heavenly gift. I went outside to the tree and kowtowed three times and spoke to it knowing it, he, could understand me,

"On this day I swear to the Heavens, to my Ancestors, and to my Internal Demons that should any danger befall this Sect and this tree I will give my life for one thousand years to punish anyone and everyone who has anything to deal with the attack. Oh Great Immortal Tree you have given me back my cultivation. And this Sect has given me this home and all their love. I will not be without fidelity. And will repay a drop of water with an ocean." I was twenty years old that year.

I spent the next few hours consolidating my cultivation. It took me mere hours to break through from spirit realm to origin realm. Less than nine months later I broke through to the sage realm. Only seventh ranked sects have Sage realm cultivators, and it be a big deal. Eighth ranked might have one. But that would be a huge deal for them. My presence is akin to a God to them. But in first rank sects, my speed would put off even the greatest genius of them. With this speed I waited until I became an Earth Immortal before I attempted to officially raise the sects ranking. A twenty seven year old earth ranked immortal. Even in first ranked sects the youngest would be thirty and that would only happen every one hundred years.

They don't want to get on my bad side in case of making an enemy out of me. But what surprised me the most was the visit from the first ranked sect Jade Mountain Palace. They sent representatives to smooth things over with me. Then I found out that the individual who crippled me was taken into that sect. When we met face to face he seemed unconcerned. His master looked scared probably afraid that I held a grudge. But I didn't in fact I was grateful, he taught me a meaningful and important lesson. From my storage ring I pulled out six leaves three silver and three gold. I handed it over to him.

"Ning Hwan, I hold no grudge. I am thankful for your powerful lesson. These are tokens of my gratitude. These silver leaves can heal attacks on the soul. While the gold can cure curses or diseases that center around the soul. They seem to also contain a secondary ability to restore the body." He looked surprised he probably thought that I still held a grudge. But then he relaxed.

He took the leaves and saluted me in appreciation. That was it I never saw him again, I had nothing to do with The Jade Mountain Palace after that. Maybe I crossed the paths of those that belong there but nothing more. My old sect visited me and my once fairweather friends. But I wouldn't even meet them. It would be a waste of my time. I was twenty eight when I brought the sect up to rank eight. I then spent the next ten years in and out of the sect. Finding new cultivation methods as well as rearing new students for the sect. Loyal honest and trustworthy students. As the years passed I became less invested in the sect, it will always be my home. And I still have the talisman that warns of danger towards the sect. And the one that allows me to teleport there instantly.

It's been awhile. A thousand years I believe. Perhaps I should visit.
