Chapter 117: Even if you killed someone, I will stand beside you and tell you it’s not your fault.
It only took ten minutes for Wang Kai to put Xu Kun on the bed before rushing to his car again. Xiao Ni was still looking down when he entered the car. He could felt her frighten just by watching her sitting posture.
Well, it occurs to him that she might remember about that incident. Not everything, maybe a fraction from that nightmare. The doctor said it was possible. But he did not know how to bring it up to her. He did not want to take the risk of mentioning it and make everything worse again. What if it's not about that?
That memories are a pandora box for her.
The road was long and wide back to the city center. Wang Kai tried to ease the tense atmosphere by putting Xiao Ni's favorite song in the car. It put Xiao Ni in a better mood but still did not dare to look at him directly. Just a few steal glances all along the way.
"How tough was the filming process? You are so thin." He broke the silence, frowning along the way.
Xiao Ni puffed her cheeks and check her own body.
"Losing weight is needed for the role."
"Hmm, Do you want to eat the noodle on that street?" he suddenly raised a question, slowly make Xiao Ni forget her worries away. Xiao Ni tilted her head, turning at him.
"What noodles?"
"That day, on A street? I have Han Li check on their hygiene. We can eat there if you want."
"I WANT!" Xiao Ni's eyes almost pop out from her socket! Oh my, how could she forget about those noodles? The smell itself makes her stomach growl. Wang Kai smiles as he drives the car. It took them two hours' drive to arrive at the stall. When they get there, the sky has turned dark.
The small place looks full when Wang Kai seat there, looking uncomfortable. Xiao Ni takes an extra preclusion so he wouldn't be too in discomfort. Wiping the table, the chopstick, and the spoon with wet tissues before dried it again with dry tissues. Wang Kai has a faint smirked, he asked, "You really want to eat here, huh?"
Xiao Ni blinked and nod her head frantically, biting the spoon while she makes a cute face.
Wang Kai chuckles and helps her wipes the table. Soon the noodle was served and as Xiao Ni has expected, the noodles taste really good. She even does a little dance as she eats, blushing when she realized Wang Kai is watching.
Wang Kai raised his eyebrow and followed Xiao Ni's little dance in an attempt to tease her. Xiao Ni almost hits his arm for teasing her but she quickly finds the two of them are laughing together.
"Silly girl." He said and ate the noodle again. Wang Kai is used to eating quickly, so he finished his bowl first then used the rest of his time to looked at Xiao Ni eating. The way she eats so cheerfully and fully spirited really amused him.
"You wanted another bowl?" he asked. Xiao Ni shamelessly looked up and grinned, shyly nodding her head. Wang Kai smiles and nods, calling the aunty to order another 2 bowls of noodles. Xiao Ni is stunned, she looked at Wang Kai with a proud face.
"It's good right?" he even orders an extra bowl of noodles for himself. The noodle must-have suit his taste bud. Wang Kai nods his head casually, shows her a boyish grin. "Good, good, eat more, eat more." She merrily slurped on her noodles again.
The two bowl noodles quickly served. Xiao Ni grinned and slide the bowl to Wang Kai's side. Wang Kai who sits upright returns the same wide smile while he slides it black to Xiao Ni. Xiao Ni blinked twice but still had a smile on her face, slides it to Wang Kai's side. Wang Kai smiles and slides it back.
"?" Question marks were written all over her face.
"It's good, eat more." Wang Kai said the exact same sentence she has said before.
Xiao Ni smile still lingering on her face, but her eyes show how confused she was.
"This two, for me?" she swallows hard. She might be a foodie and sometimes looks gluttonous. But three bowls in one seat, isn't this too much?
"You are kidding, right?" she laughed.
Wang Kai laughed but shook his head.
"No."
"…"
Turn out, it was his way to make her gain weight.
"If you don't finish it, I won't take you here again."

It took Xiao Ni one hour to finish the extra two bowl. The stall slowly gets crowded while there seems a big invisible divider between them and the rest customer. Xiao Ni did not realize but she made another hit on Weibo. She only felt Wang Kai's eyes on her, but when other people call her name she realized they were in public.
"Xiao Ni!" A man wearing an oversized white tee called her. Beside him, there stands his wife, the famous journalist slash reporter, Elle. Xiao Ni almost choked on her noodles when she saw them approaching their table.
The last memories flooded on her mind as Qin Bai and Elle getting closer.
"Guan Xiao Ni, My marriage is not working out. I'm still in love with you."
"Uhuk! Uhuk! Uhuk!" Xiao Ni choked out for real this time and almost sprayed the broth on inside her mouth. Wang Kai quickly patted her back and give Xiao Ni his handkerchief.
"Eat slowly," He frowned and give Xiao Ni a glass of water. Xiao Ni's face was red from all the emotions inside of her. She even felt guiltier to Wang Kai right now.
"Are you okay?" Qin Bai asked with a real concerted face when he stands next to their table. Elle has a flat face, which somehow makes Xiao Ni cautious. She waves her hand swiftly before answering.
"I'm okay, I'm okay. You two come here to eat too?" she tried to fake a smile.
"Yeah. We just never thought we will meet a big star like you in this small stall." Evelyn replied curtly. Xiao Ni's lips twitched, it was clear she dislikes her from her way to talk.
"The food is delicious." She gives a normal answer. Hoping Wang Kai's strong demeanor affecting them to leave their table. God, this is so awkward. She doesn't like this at all.
"Could we seat here? The table is full." Qin Bai looked at Wang Kai before he stares at Xiao Ni. Evelyn is glaring at Qin Bai right now. She glares so hard that Xiao Ni thought her eyeball will roll out from her eye socket.
Wang Kai catches the strange mood between them. He pressed his thin lips together, without thinking of giving a face to Xiao Ni's so-called 'best-friend' he snapped.
"No."
A direct rejection. Leaving Qin Bai no option to save his face at all. Xiao Ni's lips twitched when she saw Wang Kai's smug and unhappy face, Qin Bai's dark as pot face, and Evelyn relief and amusement face. This time Evelyn put her hand around Qin Bai's arm and hit him affectionally.
"Hubby, how could we disturb them. Let just wait in the car."
"Ah, I've finished eating. You guys can have our seats." Xiao Ni quickly stood up and give them her seat. Wang Kai, sat still, only he looked up and stare at Xiao Ni with looks that said 'why did we need to give them our seat?'
Xiao Ni could only let out a fake laugh and pull his arm to stand up.
"We are going first," she said as she dragged Wang Kai who looks unwilling to the car.
"You are so heavy." She complained after she successfully makes Wang Kai drive the car, away from the crowd. Wang Kai, however, did not say anything. But she could felt he was pissing after seeing Qin Bai.
An idea pops out of Xiao Ni's mind she looks at him carefully.
"Just now…" she mutters in low voice, unsure how to break this information to Wang Kai without making him go berserk. Wang Kai scoffed loudly, Xiao Ni could see his jaw tighten beside him.
"Well…" the word fails Xiao Ni. In the end, she chooses not to tell him anything, which makes Wang Kai seems even more pissed off.
"You are not telling me anything?" he asked with a cold voice.
Xiao Ni jolted and instantly turn to look at him. This time, Wang Kai turn his head to look at her too. She bites her lips and lowered her gaze. Her eyelashes fluttered gently, creating a loose shadow on her milky skin.
"Well, that time when I live in my apartment-"
"When you run off to your apartment." He corrected her. Xiao Ni rolled her head but proceed to continue.
"Yes, when I run off to my apartment because you suddenly disappear." She sarcastically revised her sentence. "I found out there is nothing on the fridge, that's why I go to the nearest supermarket to shop. Then…"
"You meet that wishy-washy man." He finished her sentence. Xiao Ni took a deep breath and nod her head.
"Yeah, I did."
"Then?"
"Then we talk."
"Talk about?" He smiled indulgently white waited for her answers.
"About life, you know marriage life, since both of us are married now." She tried to find an alibi to cover up. It won't be good at Qin Bai's end if Wang Kai found out.
"And how exactly is his marriage life, is he unhappy because he still in love with you?"
Xiao Ni was speechless, then turn dumb for a moment. She shook her head and glared at him. "Of course, you knew it. You've people followed me. How can I forget?" she sneers.
"Well honey, they are protecting you. And don't roll your eyes." He said the moment Xiao Ni wanted to roll her eyes. Xiao Ni sighed and looked at the driving Adonis which could crack a smile right now. Her eyes twinkled.
"Hmm, strange. You don't look angry." She asked in wonder, tapping her finger on her chin.
"Well, I don't have to be if you take the initiative to tell me." He explained, showing quite a gentle smile at her. Xiao Ni's hearts pounded hard suddenly. She averted her gaze, feeling uncomfortable. Her mood changes too fast that Wang Kai realized it almost instantly.
She clears her throat before throwing a question. "Well, you will forgive me as long as I confessed to you?" She was very nervous that she voiced cracked. Her whole body has stiffened.
Wang Kai keeps driving the car at normal speed, even though the road is empty and he is riding a supercar.
"En, I will." He answers without any sign of hesitation. Xiao Ni was stunned. Deep down she wonders, has he caught something from her reaction to Wang Ru? She supported Wang Ru in the past and suddenly she refuses to go down when she knew he will be there.
Wang Kai is so smart, he will notice it right?
Suddenly she felt terrified. She was damned scared right now. She did not want to continue this conversation. But part of her forced her mouth to speak.
"Even If I did something so dire, as long as I took the initiative to told you, you will forgive me?" She asked for the last confirmation. Looking at him nervously. Wang Kai knew that looks, his heart suddenly filled with sour liquids that it somehow makes his stomach filled funny.
He knew, whatever his answer next will become a crucial matter for Xiao Ni.
He lowered his speed and turn his head to Xiao Ni. He smiles gently. It was such a sweet smile that Xiao Ni thought she will never see again. The last time he smiles like this was probably before all the mess happened.
The hallow on her chest expanding greatly.
"Don't tell me the ans-" she said as she chickens out, but Wang Kai has told his answer before she could finish her sentence.
"Nini, even if you killed someone, I will stand beside you and tell you it's not your fault."
