Chapter 2: Blood Red Flame.
I open my eyes to see myself in a hospital room with Shirou sitting at the desk beside my bed.
"Oh you're finally awake! You've been out for a whole day!" said Shirou as he was overjoyed to see me awake.
"What the fuck happened? How did I end up here? And why the fuck did you just run away yesterday when we saw that weird robed dude!?"
"I have no idea what you just said but you just passed out while we were walking home and I brought you to the hospital."
"That's odd…must've been a dream then." I mumbled to myself
"What dream?" asked Shirou
"Nevermind. Thanks for going through the trouble of bringing me here."
"Hey what are best friends for? Anyways I told your parents what happened and they asked me to keep them updated since they're both working abroad, I'll let them know you woke up."
"thanks."
There was a knock at the hospital room door and a nurse walked in with a file in hand.
"Oh Mr. Norio you're awake, well then we're just going to run a few tests on you before we can decide on whether we can let you go."
"Y-yeah, sure.." I replied hesitantly as I hated being in the hospital, but I didn't really have choice here.
I held onto the railing on the side of the bed to help myself up and suddenly Shirou gasped loudly.
"What? I looked at his frightened face, " Seriously what? Is there a ghost lying next to me or something?"
He pointed towards my hand that was gripping the bed railing. I glanced towards it and see that the steel railing had been crushed by my hand. As if the fright of seeing that I've crushed a solid metal bar with my bare hands weren't enough, my hand was unexpectedly engulfed in a blood red flame, the same aura that I was engulfed in what I thought was a dream…now it doesn't seem to me like it was just a dream.
While sweating profusely I let go of the railing and the blood red flame faded from my hand. My eyes were locked onto my hand and showed nothing but terror in them while remembering the robed figure hearing him mumble indistinguishable words while pointing towards me.
"Takeshi…"
"…"
"Takeshi!"
I raised my head to look up at Shirou who was just as terrified and confused as I was.
"wHAT tHE fUCK was ThAT!" shouted Shirou
I gulped and said "I-I don't…know…but that weird red thing that was on my arm…I'm sure I saw it yesterday when…"
"When what?!"
I explained that what I thought was a dream was in fact real and what exactly happened.
"That's impossible, you passed out the moment we walked into our neighborhood and I was with you the whole time! Heck I was the one that brought you here after your ass got knocked out!" He explained with a confused expression on his face.
"I don't know how what we experienced was different but I know what I saw and I know it was real…and this proves it too" I said while pointing towards the crushed part of the railing.
The Nurse slammed the door open and said "You're free to go" with a blank expression and no life in her eyes as if she were being mind controlled. This only scared Shirou and I even more but we took the opportunity and left after I got my stuff in order.
We walked back to my house. This time there was no robed man awaiting my arrival at the start of the street.
Shirou and I sat silently in my bedroom trying to process what had happened.
"So…you have super strength now or something?" asked Shirou
"As cool as that sounds I have no fucking clue."
"Instead of panicking about this…maybe we should embrace it and see what you can actually do."
"And how exactly do you propose we do that?
"Simple, we go over a few tests, strength, speed, maybe even flight?"
"Oookay Let's not get ahead of ourselves I don't even know what the fuck this is."
"Exactly why we should find out what it is instead of panicking over this because that just isn't gonna get us anywhere."
"Alright if you say so, but first things first, no one and I mean NO ONE should know about this."
