Chapter 29: I don't give idle threats!

In a classic old woman move, Ella stood with her hands on her hips and eyes narrowed as she admonished, "Who are you? And how dare you scold my Mama?"

Mayor Oh was at first stunned to look down at the little girl who dared to speak to him like that. But then he looked down and said dismally, "You are just a little girl! There is no need to for you to speak between adults."

But Ella was not to talked down. She continued to glare as she said," There is every need if you are going to take that tone with my Mama! Who are you?"

Angered, Mayor Oh turned back to the woman on the bed and said," Consider my offer! Otherwise, I will make sure you regret it."

As he marched towards the door, his stick was caught and he almost fell causing Ella to let loose a giggle. Feeling unreasonably humiliated, he turned around and roared, "You little brat!" while raising his stick, ready to hit the insolent girl when it was caught by the man who had been until now leaning casually against the door.

The dangerous aura around the man scared Mayor Oh, who was about to snap at the person who dared to stop him from teaching a lesson to the brat, but instead he stepped back with a jerk.

Taking a moment to compose himself, he growled, " What a disgusting family! How dare you threaten me? Let me tell you I am the mayor of this town! And I will make sure that all three of you remember me everyday once I make your life miserable!

Mayor Oh thought that his threat would make the goon like man be worried but amazingly the insane man grinned. But Mayor Oh could see that there was no humor in his gaze! Frowning, he was about to step away when the man dared to place a hand on his chest and block his way. Matt, then turned his gaze to Ella who had been scared when the man had raised his walking stick. A fire started to burn in his eyes as he saw his fiery little pixie bury herself in her mother's arms.

" Miss Xue..I would like a word with Mayor Oh. We will be right back."

Qian Qian nodded and focused her attention on Ella, making sure that the little girl was fine while Mayor Oh was half dragged and half pulled by Matt who had placed his arm around the other man's shoulder as if they were friends...

Once the door closed behind them, Mayor Oh was finally able to get out of the man's hold and snapped angrily, "What is the meaning of this behavior? Let me call my guards and the police! Only when you spend a say in jail will make you realize your impudence."

Since this was a VIP floor, all the nurses and doctors were present and turned their attention towards the sound but no one dared to intervene.

But instead of feeling threatened, Matt Long threw back his head and laughed heartily. "Mayor Oh! Do you really think a small man like you from a small town like this can touch me? Or my people? I heard your words inside and then you even had the gall to hit my little girl! Let me make something very clear to you. You can try to come up with as many accusations as you want to put me behind the bars! But for every accusation, I will be the one making you pay through the nose for false allegations! And I assure you that unlike you, my warnings will work. I don't like to give idle threats so you will receive a glimpse of my power in a few minutes. People with real power don't need to flaunt it. They should just use it."

With these curt words, Matt walked into the room without a backward glance leaving a stunned Mayor Oh behind. And as he stood there, his phone started to ring. In a trance, he answered the phone and was shocked when his assistant talked into the phone," Sir! Some anti corruption officers have reached out office with search warrants!"
