Chapter 2: competition
The beautiful melody that so entranced Stella came to a end suddenly. Mr. Qu took a deep sigh of breathe and ran his fingers through his hair. He barely gave his friend much of a glance, even though he had known her many years.
He hired her as what he believed was a factor rising her further than she could ever on her on, he believed. However, he did not know she accepted only to be next to him.
Stella placed the warm tea on his desk, her green eyes meeting his brown ones momentarily. The oak doors to his office opened. His fiance stepped in.
She was a daughter of a wealthy chinese family. Her long black hair made it past her waist. Her lips were like that of a fresh peony flower. Her body was tall and slender and her skin flawless perfection.
There was no way in Stella's mind that she could compete with that. She knew Mr. Qu was marrying for financial gain, not for love. That is how she knew she would never get more than a passing glance.
Her heart ached for a moment and a wave of depression seized her momentarily as she was kept in her dark thoughts of what is to come.
The marriage of Orian Qu and Tsuki Chan would be one that many would envy. The venue was booked and even more to her dismay she had not recieved a invite.
This was the nail in her heart that told her just how meaningless to Orian she was. Why must she lower herself for him?
Why had she let him keep her heart prisoner for so long? Stella exited the room, leaving the two alone.
One glance back she could see the rigid, tension between the two. They did well at their farce but Stella knew Tsuki would never love Orian like she did.
Stella felt a tear roll down her cheek as the Oak door slammed behind her. Lost in thought, she gathered her things at her desk and checked to see what appointments Orian had scheduled for the next few days.
Sitting on her desk was a slice of dulce de leche cake. Her cheeks burned red as she reached out. He remebered her birthday and it was the same as when they meet ten years ago.
