Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Exss-poh-sit-tioon(Wha hoo!)

The next few weeks were... interesting? Boring? Both in direct opposition?

The night after I awakened Bast, she didn't show up in the Mana Galaxy(I heard Kire call it the Mindscape Galaxy, still not sure if this name sounds right so I'll just roll with random variations of Galaxy based on how my thinking is at the moment?)

The next night she did however, and considering how much aggressive aura she gave off seeing as in here we're constructs of our will...

Yeah... I'm gonna guess that some dude got why he deserved. Hopefully she didn't kill him quickly.

People like him are disgusting. To act in such a way is not predatory, it's dumb.

Natural selection dictates that good qualities to create stronger generations are usually more attractive, intelligent, and strong.

One who commits such an act is one who is unable to properly mate with their own kind, and doesn't that mean they are unfit to pass on traits?

People who think of them as predators are misguided. A predator hunts to eat. One who plays with their food is just cruel, and one who defies natural selection is simply selfish and stupid-

'WHOAH! Holy fuck, where did all this come from?!'

I feel like I just got yanked out from a pool of water!

What just happened? Was I thinking all that? Yeah... that was me. It had the same snarky use of logic to act like a know-it-all as I do.

Is this how a dragon views the world? The natural order of predator and prey?

It's somehow opposed to my idea of intellect, yet dragons are undoubtedly intelligent. Is it a different way of thought that someone standing from a still mostly human standpoint wouldn't understand?

Anyways... uh... I'm a bit concerned about these sudden changes to my mental state sneaking up on me.

In the meantime... here's some bullet points?

1)I've been practicing light magic with Korven and actually managed to teach him a few things!

Apparently he had no idea white light was all light with colors being the split off forms?

And the results of our study into what light magic through color is? They were... interesting.

I didn't expect to get a flammable red jelly in my fur though. Luckily I'm basically fireproof, especially since my own magic can't hurt me.

Oh yeah!

2)My own magic can't hurt me. Everyone has a unique mana signature when they awaken and fuse the magic with themselves apparently? So your own wavelength somehow cannot effect your body at all except for enhancing it by fusion magic.

This lead me to another theory: my ability to awaken others. I THINK that Bast and Kire must have my mana signature. Like I somehow gave them my mana signature and fused it with their wills by creating a connection between us?

I'm not sure if this is because of that "goddess" or because I myself was once human, and my will or soul is still mine, meaning my mana signature might be more adaptable?

It's also occurred to me that me absorbing others mana makes no sense then.

My own magic is the consolidated fusion of a adult fire dragon, an alicorn, and some magic weapon made from an ice wolf monster, as well as the earth magic I later gained from that earth worm.

So maybe that means my mana signature is adaptable because it originated from multiple sources? But it's all my magic now, it's not separated. My light and air magic's have no more connection than any other element with another in me despite them both having a common source.

I don't know if Bast or Kire can hurt me with their magic. I know we can't hurt each other with magic inside the galaxy, it just pricks a bit, but mostly they have been practicing against one another while also slowly absorbing more to grow their planets.

Well... Bast has a tiny newborn star that is a dull red right now.

Kire has a tiny asteroid.

They're both about 3 times the size they started at, so like 3 houses with 2 floors each.

I expected this would mean their magic in reality would massively change, but apparently other than some improvements to the effects of fusion magic that were barely detectable after 7 nights worth of straight absorption, no other changes to their magic have appeared.

I realized why the second I really thought about it though.

If their magic power came from their cores, then yeah it would increase.

But they're taking magic from MY CORE. The massive clouds!

And those aren't getting any bigger OR smaller.

(Seriously, any bit they draw away to absorb is just grown back?! Let me have a less stressful time! I don't want to die from my body exploding due to too much mana!)

So the cores really just dictate how much their body can handle as it changes them and helps them evolve.

I asked Korven if I could feed my light magic to him to help him evolve faster as having a massive source would allow him to evolve faster, but someone else's mana is actually poisonous to your core because of the incompatibility of wavelengths.

So that idea got stamped.

Also it should be obvious, but normal awakened have to slowly absorb magic through the environment ceaselessly over time to grow their core.

For Kire and Bast, I'm basically a fucking hydro dam, when an awakened should just have a bicycle generator.

Anyways yeah so 3 and 4: Kire and Bast have been practicing together, Bast explained how she thinks Spells work, and I learned cause I spied while doing my best to come to a deeper understanding of light magic and continue the slow process of absorbing more.

As for my own attempts with creating spell stars or programs, whatever you think of them, here's my view: it's no different from doing all the work yourself, except it takes longer to make, is more stable, and lasts longer afterwards.

So it's not very effective to focus on making the stars during a fight or in a rush, but it's good for creating an effect you want to last without focusing on it.

Korven has some idea of how to do it, but I tried explaining it in a programming sort of way, based on lines of logic, and I think he got better at it?

His idea of it before was "to instill thy will into the vessel and connect them."

Every night Korven would have to put a dome of darkness around me to hide my body as it starts to glow in the dark with me absorbing my own light magic into my proper core. The ligh is not super bright, but still, best not to tempt fate right?

Apparently the light I emitted was pure light essence, which isn't the same as mana in that it doesn't have an owner?

I don't get it, but it's the same idea as sunlight apparently but much more concentrated and direct, so that actually has made it so Korven can absorb a lot more light element than he normally could, speeding up his core growth in terms of light magic.

I am worried about his dark magic and asked him about that, but apparently his dark magic was already growing faster than the light magic and my boost is actually sorta evening the field? At this rate light will eventually outstrip dark, but not for awhile.

Korven said something like "at this rate I'll reach the 2nd stage in only a year!" But I don't get it. Is there stages to awakening?

When I asked him he stared at me for awhile before saying [I don't think you'll ever need to even think about it, to be honest.]

Again: not sure whether to be complimented or insulted.

But now was the night I try something out.

I flew over to the space in between Kire and Bast's astral bodies(hey if this is a galaxy, that's a way cooler name for their centers of magic than "cores"!), a bit father out from my own astral body... the star surrounded by massive clouds.

Jeez just the thought of slowly working through that much magic is terrifying. How long will that take? Well I got a few years... decades... centuries to spare.

Holy shit. Can I have an early-life crisis about being extremely long lived, with the potential to be immortal? Potential, cause nothing actually lasts forever. I'd bet even the gods of this world will one day wither and die.

Though I've no clue how that'll happen.

Anyways I flew over to the 2 before they could begin their nightly spar and compare spell craft, and sent a message.

[Today, how about you two team up against me?]
