Chapter 5: Misunderstanding leads to death.

"Ah! That was heavy." Perseus settled in his bed as he looked at the ring in his hand, trying to wear it. The ring was quite big, so it didn't fit him at all as he stood up. He walked over to his closet, as he searched for something but from the corner of his eyes he noticed something extremely peculiar. Acting as if he didn't notice it, Perseus kept his head in the closet but still keeping an eye out for what was happening outside.

"I know it was here somewhere." He said.

The kid's magazine that was on top of his desk slowly was sliding towards the edge by itself and it suddenly disappeared before it fell.

Perseus had seen it all happened with his very own eyes but he didn't show a reaction, he took out what he was searching for from the closet. A thin silver chain which he opened and hanged the ring in it as he wore the chain on his neck with the ring hanging on it.

Smiling, he looked at himself in the mirror as he walked over to the table as he sat in his chair. "Aren't you going to show yourself?"

There was silence as no one answered. People would call Perseus crazy if they were to see him right now talking to no one. "If you don't show yourself, I'll burn this entire room along with myself so we can both die."

There was silence again but something suddenly appeared beneath his feet, kneeling. It was a House-elf. A female house-elf, who like any other elf was a small elf with large ears. Big brown eyes and surprisingly a human-like nose. The elf in front of his was probably the only elf he had seen with so much resemblance to a normal human. With enough makeup and a wig, Perseus was sure the elf could pass off as a human. An ugly human but still a human.

Perseus was shocked as he was expecting a Demiguise to maybe show up but he hadn't expected a house-elf wearing a pillowcase to show itself. Wondering whose elf it was and why it was here, Perseus had a lot of questions in his head but coming from a noble family, he knew atleast how to handle an elf.

"Who are you and who sent you here?"

"My- My name is Bailey, master." The elf answered in a usual elf-like high pitched tone.

"Master?" Perseus questioned again with his eyes narrowed together.

"Yes, Yes... Bailey is master's elf." The elf named Bailey nodded her head as she explained, "Bailey has been with master forever and is master's caretaker. Bailey is happy that master has finally called out to Bailey."

"Wait forever?" Perseus was getting more and more confused and a bit creeped out. But he quickly managed to calm himself down, "Let's start from the very beginning. So, Bailey, you're my elf huh?"

"Yes." The elf nodded.

"Why? Who assigned me to you?"

"Your father, of course," Bailey said with a great sense of pride.

"My father, again?" Perseus rubbed his forehead now completely sure his father was a wizard, "So who is my father?"

"Bailey can't say. Master had forbidden Bailey to ever speak of him to anyone."

"But you said I am your master, didn't you? So are you going to disobey me so soon?" Perseus asked trying to twist his words to confuse the elf but this elf seemed to have tasted freedom too much as it didn't seem to fear consequences like other elves.

"Big Master is Big master and Small Master is Small master." Bailey said, "Big Master had sent Bailey, to protect Small Master and Mistress and to follow Small master after his awakening."

Perseus clicked his tongue in annoyance as elves like these were most irritating to handle. He himself was no violent person and hated the way some people treated their elves but clever elves always made him realize why maybe some of those wizards were right.

"Sigh! So you can't tell me who my father is but he sent you to protect me and mum, huh?" Perseus said, "So is he still alive?"

"I am sure he is." Bailey said, "Bailey hasn't met master in awhile, but I am sure he is. He is a great wizard after all."

Perseus narrowed his eyes, "So you've been always following us?"

"Yes." Bailey nodded.

"Where do you live?"

"In the attic, and sometimes in the basement."

"What do you eat?"

"Bailey has her way, to gather food so master doesn't have to worry about it," Bailey said fidgeting a little.

Perseus suspected something as he said, "So what were you going to do with the magazine you just took from the table."

Bailey for the first time acted like a regular house-elf as it bowed its head down, "Master please forgive me, Bailey did take the magazine but Bailey wasn't going to do anything with it. Bailey was, however, going to use it to protect you, master."

'This elf is a bloody kleptomaniac.' Perseus face twitched as he realized something, "What do you mean to protect me?"

"Does master not remember that a couple of days ago, Bailey saved master from the muggle in your school."

"Wait that was you..." Perseus said as his face began to pale, "All those books and copies that fell..."

"It was me, Master, Bailey did well in protecting you, didn't she?"

"So I hadn't awakened magic then." Perseus blabbered to himself looking as if his soul had just left his body, "So I jumped off a roof without ever awakening..."

"Yes, Master. Bailey was concerned about master when he did but Bailey is happy that Master finally awakened his magic and Bailey could finally show herself to Master-- Master? Master are you alright?"

"Huh? Yes. I did jump off a roof..." Perseus said as he slowly remembered the fall again, gulping he asked, "Are you sure it wasn't you who helped me from falling off to my death?"

"No, master. You did it on your own. You awakened by yourself." Bailey said trying to cheer him up.

After a moment of depressing thoughts and thinking how he nearly died of a bloody misunderstanding, he slowly began to collect himself back again. He looked at the elf in front of him.

"So you were ordered to not show yourself to me until I awakened right?" Perseus started questioning the elf again.

"Yes, master."

'So that bloody father of mine wasn't certain about me even being a wizard. Wait! but that means he knew of me and me being his child and he still didn't come to see me and mum.'

Perseus looked back at Bailey with a serious look, "Bailey, you're my only connection to the wizarding world, so tell me everything you know about the wizarding world. Every little incident of what happened in the past decade."

"Harry Potter, huh!" Perseus repeated the name in his bed again for the millionth time. After a brief history lesson from Bailey, he had came to realize that against his expectations the world had changed a lot in the past decade. A dark-lord had emerged and a hero had emerged to kill it but how could a bloody kid kill the strongest dark-lord (as Bailey put the man out to be) was out of his head.

But he knew he had grabbed a piece of special information, the baby from what he heard was the same age as him and was likely a wizard. These past days he had been contemplating between Hogwarts and Illvermorny, which wizarding school should he go to but now it looked like his destination was clear.

The group of dark wizards who hunted him and his sister were from a dark organization that chased after everything important and valuable. Perseus was sure, the organization must have already had their eye out for this Potter kid and were probably waiting for him to grow up or do something heroic again, so they could confirm with themselves that the boy was special and would want to take him with them. After all, that's what they always did.

So to meet them again, he knew the easiest way was to stick near the boy-who-lived.

Meeting Bailey was better than expected, he had found several different things including that his father was telling the truth about the war and was now quite sure that something must have happened to him. Maybe he had passed away or maybe he was still in hiding or like in some sort of soap opera, he was in a coma where he would sleep forever.

The other best thing was that he had finally found a way to get in touch with the wizarding world through Bailey. Happy with the elf, Perseus gave Bailey a lot of pillows and comfortable blankets so she could safely and comfortably sleep in the attic. Like a good elf, Bailey showed a lot of appreciation for his kindness which made Perseus think that she wasn't all that bad after all.

A/N:- I know I am dragging this out a little longer, but that's because I want people to get familiar with the MC as he is an original character and not an already existing one. So for relatability and to make him a good character I am kinda taking it slowly rather than hopping quickly into the Hogwarts train.
