Chapter 3: Memories don't matter

Azazel's warning made goosebumps creep on her skin. She recalled her familiar telling her she was in level five, and right now she was up against Something that could wipe the whole forest in a breathe of fire.

From her view she noticed something or someone was seated on it. The creature wasn't something she could deal with and whoever was on it must've been an evil overlord.

She made a run for it, but for some reason it felt like it was tailing her. She his behind her rock, cover her mouth and cover azazel's snout praying the beast wouldn't be able to catch up her scent. Which was ninety percent possible.

She could picture the way she'd be killed by the huge creature with twisted horns protruding upward. It looked terribly hungry for flesh, the jaws were were quite powerful with mouth full of razor sharp teeth with dried blood stains on it.

She couldn't tell what exactly it was but it seemed like a combination, some kind of three in one beast.

Skulls were connected to a rope and was wrapped around it's neck for adornment. She wondered if he skull would be pretty enough to be put there or it would be crushed just like the past victim's.

She's only been alive for half a day. It was too soon to die. She remembered her wings, but to activate them was the problem.

"Azazel how do I use my wings?"

Azazel shrugged "I'm not sure about that one"

It was settled. They were doomed.

She could hear footsteps and the sound of disturbed bushes. Someone or something was making way towards them and they couldn't do a thing.

"Nice meeting you Azazel" She said as she closed her eyes and familiar did the same.

She was crying from shut eyes as she waited for the beast to sink it's teeth and reap her body apart while it's master would just stare. Getting thrilled from a life form being devoured mercilessly.

She whimpered as soon as she felt fingertips on her bare legs. Her eyes slowly opened and they met with those of a figure clothed kevlar and chainmail armor from head to toe. Face was masked with a halved skull and it made her shiver.

She muffled her noises of complaint because of the threatening aura accompanying the strange person.

He tossed Azazel into a small cafe and attached it to a hook on his belt then placed female 20891 on his shoulder and turned for the the monster's direction.

She faced a different direction, not wanting to look at the monster's chromatic eyes and the countless horns on the snouts.

Fear made her pass out. She knew it was better to sleep and never wake up.

Once the dawn awakened, the buzz of insects followed and the few birds chirped sweetly. She woke up, body slightly covered in dirt, twig and leaves in her hair.

She wondered where she was. "Azazel" She screamed looking around and her gaze met with that of the figure from yesterday. She was still alive...and cloaked. Maybe he couldn't stand seeing her bare. She pulled it to herself and turned to a different direction.

The strange man chewed on roasted pork meat and she watched him. He didn't offer to share even when their eyes met a million times. He seemed to have more food supplies in his sack, despite how many times her stomach growled he wasn't going to give her a thing. It's not like she was expecting him to. She was bound to be dragon food.

She wondered why he didn't feed her to the double headed lizard beast when she was unconscious. She didn't want to be eaten alive.

He gobbled down a drink and closed up the opening from his helmet. He didn't take his helmet off even when he was eating. Quite weird but she didn't want him to know what she was thinking.

"Where's Azazel?" She asked but he didn't answer. She couldn't tell the expression on his face because of that ridiculous helmet he had on. "Poor Azazel" She whispered to herself as her stomach growled a bit louder than before.

The man got up and looked inside one of the sacks behind him then pulled out a small sword.

"Go inside that cave and fight. Come back when you're in level 12. I'll be waiting" She was confused. He just came out of nowhere, kidnapped her and wants her to level up in a cave full of who knows what.

"I'm not going. You have to give me a reason to" She didn't look In his eyes when she said that because she knew what might happen next.

In one moment her breathing and heart beat stopped as his metal fist came in contact with her face, again and again until she begged for mercy.

She was a bloody mess on the ground. Eyes swollen with blood stains on her jaw. She cried bitterly but he kicked her stomach before he backed away.

She still got up, legs wavy just to avoid further complications. She picked up the sword and proceeded into the dark cave.

She spent most of her time killing a flood of centipedes and large wasps. Leveling up wasn't so easy, but once she fought the boss's and tiny minions she was able to gather up enough experience points and loots.

She came out with a level fifteen badge still bruised up from the fights and her cloak was torn.

She didn't know she had powers, the major problem was controlling her transformation and recovering memories.

Once she was out she met with the man, plopped the sacks filled with gold then sat on the ground. She was weak and thought she would die soon. She closed her eyes as her breathing slowed and she struggled to remain conscious.

"Open your mouth" He ordered and she did as he said. He gave her a spoon full of purple elixir and in seconds her hp went up and all her marks were gone. She felt brand new.

He also gave her a plate of roasted fish and bread. She didn't hesitate to eat and he just. watched her.

"Thank you..." In her mind, she didn't mean it. Maybe he was fattening her up for his pet's consumption but the only advantage was that she'd be able to taste something good before she died.

"What's your name?"

"Female..." She swallowed the bits of food in her mouth then parted her lips to talk again "Female 20891 and my familiar is Azazel" She wondered what he needed her name for. Especially when he was close to beating her to death.

The man was very much strange.

"You're human?"

"I think so..."

"I'm sorry. I'm quite temperamental." Now he was apologizing.

"I'm Bohai, from the human world and I need your help."

She didn't want to help him but the beast behind gave her a scare. She had no other choice.

"I'll help you if you tell me who i am..."
