Chapter 3: She Cooked For Me
One day of my life which I can never forget. The beginning of the day was like always. We ate together and then we studied together after the college on the roof. The sun was going to the other side of the earth and suddenly a dark cloud covered the whole sky. Both of us decided to go now. Until we both reached the car, the rain started. At that time whole college was wet and empty. Even the guard was not there on that day. We both were standing in the corridor alone. We didn't have an umbrella and the car was 50 meters away from us. We both were looking at the clouds. And then I said will you help me to hold this bag. Then I started to take off my sweater. Quickly she turned her face away and said what are you thinking about. I lifted my sweater to use it like an umbrella and said what were you thinking about. Then we both ran towards the car. I opened the car door for her and then quickly I got into the car. We both got relief. We were on the way to hostel and suddenly she stopped me. She said this is first rain of monsoon, we should enjoy it. I said what do you mean. She got out of the car in the heavy rainfall and started jumping in the small ponds of water on the road. And again, my old friend I mean the slow-motion thing started. Now I could see every single drop of water falling on her. At that moment she was looking more beautiful. Now my "like" was changing into "love". She was telling me to come out and I got out of the car. I asked her do you want to dance with me in the first rain of monsoon and she said sure. I played her favorite song in the car and we both started dancing in the middle of the road in the heavy rainfall under the glowing street light. That was the prettiest day of my life.
Next day in college, in the morning assembly I saw her sneezing. So, I started teasing her "Mam, I think you've enjoyed the rain too much yesterday". In the afternoon, I was in the practical room on the third floor and she was in her classroom on the first floor. A friend of her came to me and said that Myra is very sick and she is not going back for rest. This did not seem to be a big issue to me and slowly I started moving to her class. I saw her standing in the corridor and I went to her. There was just 2 meters of distance between us. I was thinking of scolding her but suddenly she got fainted and fell on me. Her face was on my chest. I raised her face with my hands and said "what happened, get up please its not funny at all". I was really scared at that moment. I didn't think too much and quickly picked her up in my arms and started ran towards the gate. The guard quickly opened the door for me. All the students and teachers there were watching us. And I took her to the clinic in the car. She was still unconscious. Doctor examined her and said that there is nothing to panic about she just caught a cold and need to rest a bit.
Then I took her to my flat nearby there and laid down her on the bed. It was the first time a girl came to my house. She said "wow! Your house is really big and beautiful you really live here alone". I was just silently listening her. I took some water in a bowl and soaked the cloth in it and kept it on her forehead. Even then she did not stop talking. Then I told her that you should sleep peacefully now. Then I changed my college clothes and sat down with my laptop in the hall. And she was sleeping in my bedroom. At that time everything was so silent. The sun was gone and street lights were started to glow. Now she got up from sleep and came to me. I was still working on the laptop and she sat down with me. She asked me what you are doing. I put my hand on her forehead and said first you tell me how you feel now. She bowed her head, pressed her tongue with the teeth and looking at me. She was looking so cute that I can't even express it in words. Then she held my hand and said I am really sorry I scared you so much and you missed your college too but now I am feeling well. I smiled and said okay! Now tell me what you would like to eat You have not eaten anything till now I will order. She said I have come to your house for the first time and you are ordering food from outside to eat, No I will cook food for us. Then I helped her in chopping the vegetables. And started waiting for her at the dining table. I was watching her cooking from there and thinking that she looks cute even when cooking. Finally, after 30 minutes of hard work our meal was ready to eat. I tasted the food. she brought her face very close to me and asked how's it. I was looking into her eyes and said yeah, its good. After the meal I said now you want to go hostel or want to stay here with me. she got up quickly and said I want to go hostel. I gave her the spare keys of the house and said you can come here whenever you want I use this house very rarely. Then I dropped her to the hostel.
