Chapter 4: Summer in the Village of Reish - Chapter 1 [ Part 3 ]

The atmosphere in the bakery appeared quite deserted. Not long ago, there was a customer who bought bread, but now the shop had returned to its quiet state. Ruby could be seen wiping the tables in her store.

"It's been half an hour. Can they come on time?" Ruby wondered, looking at the wall clock in her shop.

"It seems like they both don't remember the little girl, Ruby."

A voice came from the kitchen, breaking the silence inside the shop.

"Yes, it seems so," Ruby replied curtly, sighing.

"Actually, it's understandable. Your appearance has changed significantly from before. Now you've become a very beautiful young lady," Uncle Fuji exclaimed as he walked towards his daughter.

"They both have changed as well. Glen, who used to be short, has become very tall and his body has grown larger, and Zan has also grown taller. But that was a long time ago. Maybe they don't remember the little girl who acted like a boy," Ruby said while continuing to wipe the table in front of her.

"Hahaha! Maybe they really thought you were a boy," Uncle Fuji chuckled.

"Ah, let's drop it."

Ruby seemed irritated, she stopped wiping and walked quickly into the kitchen.

"Hey Ruby! Dad was just kidding."

At 4:30 PM, half an hour had passed, but the two of them hadn't yet reached the village warehouse. The area was surrounded by hills and forests, and the road they were taking meandered through a silent forest. However, now a complaint was heard.

"Zan, are you sure this is the road to the village warehouse? And why did the village head put the warehouse so far from the village?"

Glen had been getting increasingly irritated.

"I don't know, to be honest. I can't remember if I've been to that warehouse before. I've just been following this northern road because Uncle Fuji said the warehouse is to the north."

Zan himself was also confused about the direction to the village warehouse. The two of them continued to walk north, hoping to find the village warehouse soon.

Step by step...

The sound of their footsteps was very clear, as the area they passed through was extremely quiet and silent, with only a few sounds of insects and melodic birds.

They continued to walk without stopping, though occasionally Glen sighed as if he was about to complain again.

"I think we've arrived, Glen," Zan suddenly said, surprising Glen, who was in the middle of sighing.

Zan pointed towards a rather large building in front of them. Around the building, there were many trees, and right next to it was a small hut.

"Hah, finally!"

Glen felt relieved because they had been walking for quite a while.

Creak...

Zan opened the warehouse door slowly. They both entered without saying a word, and Zan went over to the neatly stacked bags of flour in the corner of the warehouse. Without further ado, Zan grabbed one bag of flour.

"Hey, Glen, one bag is enough, right?"

Zan took one bag of flour and walked towards Glen, who was standing there.

"Yeah, I think that's enough."

They left the warehouse, but this time, Glen carried the flour, holding it in his large and muscular hands. Meanwhile, Zan closed the warehouse door with a loud "creak."

"All right, let's go back, Glen."

"Yeah, but why am I the one carrying this flour? It's quite heavy for me, too."

Glen complained, appearing to have some difficulty holding the flour in his two big hands.

"That's because you have a large body, so you have to carry it, Glen. Besides, you really want that bread, don't you?"

Zan replied while walking away from Glen, leaving him behind.

They left the warehouse and headed back along the quiet hillside road. The sun was getting redder, and the hot air was becoming warmer; twilight would soon give way to night. However, they were still on their way to the bakery.

"Zan, my hands can't take it anymore. I should use my power to walk faster."

Zan nodded slightly, feeling a bit sorry for Glen, who was struggling to hold the flour.

"Alright, it's up to you, Glen."

Meteor run!

Glen ran very fast while carrying the flour, leaving Zan alone in that place.

Zan did have the power of lightning, but he couldn't run like Glen. He still had a lot to learn about attack and defense techniques.

"Typical Glen! His abilities are quite impressive," Zan mumbled, feeling a little envious of his friend's abilities.

---

Shortly after, Glen arrived at the bakery. The deadline given by Uncle Fuji had not yet passed; there were about 15 minutes left.

"Hohoho! You're really quick, Glen," Uncle Fuji's voice could be heard from inside the shop as he sat near the window.

"Hahaha! Of course, because I'm a great Elga, Uncle," Glen boasted, chuckling.

"Oh yeah, by the way, where is your friend? What's his name again?" Uncle Fuji asked as he walked out of the shop.

"His name is Zan, Uncle! He'll be here in a moment!" Glen replied.

Footsteps could be heard approaching from behind.

"Ah, Zan, you finally made it," Glen said, turning around.

"Hah, finally! I'm so tired," Zan complained as he walked towards the shop.

"All right, let's go in and make the bread just the way you want it!" Uncle Fuji invited, standing in front of the shop door.

Both of them nodded in response to Uncle Fuji's invitation, and they began to enter.

---

Click...

The oven door closed.

"Now we just have to wait until it's done. You'd better sit down at the table," Uncle Fuji instructed, pointing to the table and chairs in his shop.

"All right, Uncle, we'll take a short break," Zan and Glen said, walking to the chairs pointed out by Uncle Fuji.

They were so tired that they didn't realize they had been sitting for about 30 minutes.

"Oh, Ruby! Can you take these bread to them? They look very tired," Uncle Fuji said when he saw Ruby passing through the kitchen.

"Uhh! Fine," Ruby replied, looking a little annoyed.

Ruby walked over carrying two servings of freshly baked sweet bread to where Zan and Glen were sitting.

"Please, here's the bread," she said politely as she handed the bread to Zan and Glen.

"Oh, thank you," Zan replied spontaneously, surprised.

Ruby left them, sighing, and went back to the kitchen.

"This is what we've been waiting for!"

Glen exclaimed as he held the sweet bread in his hands.

"Enjoy your meal."

Glen immediately started eating the bread. Zan also took one and began to eat. They both enjoyed the delicious sweet bread made by Uncle Fuji with great pleasure.
