Chapter 23: The True Motive of Ender

General POV

Ender stood high in their air and watched the ultimate attack as Meliodas' Revenge Counter destroyed Hendrickson.

The battle was over.

People roared in excitement as they defeated their foe and it only took a couple of hours and people were celebrating. Even those that were wounded held their drinks high up and laughed.

Hawk was alive thanks to his particular heritage, and in the Mama boar, people were drinking Meliodas drinks and eating Band food.

The only person who dared to eat Meliodas's food was Ender. He was sitting away from the rest not minding the loneliness and instead focusing on the pie.

The crazy demon gulped down the last part of the pie, a small burp escaped his mouth. A large grin formed on his face, and he couldn't help but start laughing. The laugh grew in crescendo.

The smaller demon talked with Gil about his future when he heard Ender's laugh making him turn towards the demon.

His eyes narrowed because something wasn't right. First, why was he still here, and second, why would Ender laugh when his plan failed?

"Meliodas, why are you frowning? We won. We defeat Hendrickson," said Gil, trying to get Meliodas to drink.

Meliodas shook his head.

"No, the reason I am like this is due to him."

Meliodas pointed his finger at Ender, making everyone look at Ender laughing alone at his place.

"What do you mean you are not celebrating because Ender is happy? He helped us protect Elizabeth. Look, he had eaten your poison food. Though his laugh is crazy," commented a disgusted Hauser, but Meliodas shook his head.

"I have known Ender for a very long time. You could say I was his superior one time and I have only seen him this happy if he is going to be ordered after a long time."

"But who should order Ender around? He is a demon," asked Gil.

This was the moment where Ender suddenly stopped laughing, took his drink up, and gulped it down in one go. Turning his head, he pointed up into the air.

"Of course the ones above me."

Everyone looked at Ender curiously. They didn't believe that Ender had a superior. He always did what he wanted and when he wanted.

"A question for you, Meliodas. Where is your broken sword?"

The people looked at Meliodas back.

"Yes, Meliodas always had his blade with him. I heard it was taken to Hendrickson. I thought he just got a new one," Hauser shrugged, not seeing the importance of such a thing.

Meliodas started to collect the puzzles. His eyes widened. Ender showed everyone two fingers.

"There are two items to open the coffin of eternal darkness and release the demon clan; the key and the blood of a goddess. Helbram stole the key when he fought against you, Meliodas, but it was a fake one. I had the actual key."

Meliodas' eyes showed horror.

"You don't mean…"

"I took the time to use my wand and copy the key. Not even Merlin would see the difference. And thanks to you, I got the blood of a goddess.

It is time.

You know what is going to happen, don't you?"

Before anyone could notice, Meliodas grabbed his blade and disappeared in a flash before reappearing next to Ender.

The result was obvious to Ender with it being a destroyed bar counter as Meliodas crashed into it, earning a confused look from the Enderman.

"Captain, what are you doing?" asked Diana.

Ender looked at Meliodas as it did not hurt him in the slightest.

"I hope you are not mad at me, captain. I didn't betray you, but I know you always wanted it to happen," whispered Ender before teleporting into the sky.

There, he took out his wand, which he transformed into a megaphone.

"Hello, hello, is this thing on?" Ender tapped it a few times to check if it was working.

He wanted to bring everyone's attention to him since the last time he was ignored and while he didn't mind it that much: This time he wanted to gather everyone's attention because in a few days the lives of everyone would turn drastically.

Throughout Britania, everyone heard Ender's voice tapping the microphone, which produces an annoying sound.

"Stop poking the damm microphone!" some farmer screamed clutching his head in pain.

"Nevermind, I think it is on. Ladies and gentlemen, I want you to listen to me! Everyone is celebrating the defeat of the evil Hendrickson, but I am sorry to say, he was only a meager pawn."

Everyone who listened to Ender and knew the circumstances grew curious. If Hendrickson was a pawn, then who were the knights, queen, and king?

Or was there even any and Ender was just trolling?

"I am sorry to say, but my superiors are coming and I am forced to greet them. Please do not burden me with your pleases. Hear my world humans and other races of Britannia: The commandments are coming."

Ender looked at the boar hat.

"I will see you later, my friends."

Then he teleported away.

Ender teleported to the location where Hendrickson's body was and saw a familiar figure lurking around.

He sneaked up to Fraudrin's back and whispered into his ear.

"Hey, I am bored. Let's start the ceremony."

Fraudrin instinctively turned around and his sword was only a few centimeters away from Enders' eyes. Fortunately, he recognized who arrived quickly and stopped before something bad would happen.

"Ender-sama, please stop that. I cannot tolerate your attitude. It brings shame to the demon clan."

Ender shrugged at the other demon. Always so upright and professional. Demons should really have a day off and relax.

"That's for interfering with my monologues. I enjoy being in the spotlight sometimes, as you have heard. And you won't have to in a short time. When the others are free, even I will be under master Zeldris's command, so stop whining and be a man. Now, where is Hendrickson? I need his body."

"That man is still unconscious. The attack the Traitor used got him hard. I am not sure if my demon blood is enough to heal him," Fraudrin spat out 'traitor', showing how he and many others viewed Meliodas' decision to abandon the clan for life.

"Don't waste time on this human. I just need his body and nothing else," explained Ender as Fraudrin dropped Hendrickson before him.

Ender took the blade out and the blood he collected from Elizabeth.

"Now, my dear Hendrickson. Thank you for taking that hit for me."

Ender began the chanting and the seal where all the demons stayed began to open.

When the recoil appeared, Ender used the body of Hendrickson to shield himself.

Then the Enderman began dancing while Fraudrin only facepalmed at the audacity before kneeling down and greeting his masters while secretly hoping for Ender's death.

"Hussa, they are finally out. After 3000 years!" Ender shed crocodile tears at having her back.

"This Voice…," one said.

"He is a terrible dancer," a big one commented in a monotonous voice.

"Is he really dancing?" a tiny figure asked.

"Only he can talk like that," another muttered and facepalmed.

"The fool is still alive?" asked another in confusion.

One shadow blushed as it saw Ender and winked at him.

"Why don't we kill him?" another one asked in annoyance.

Ender got a tick mark as he showed his middle finger to the last shadow.

"Fuck you, Estarossa! If you have the guts to insult me, then come and say it to my face! I bet you still sulk in a dark corner with a lollipop in your mouth because my commandment is better than yours."

Fraudrin used the time to explain to the demons what has happened during the last years. Enders cried to say his own story, but they ignored him.

One shadow looked at Ender and commanded him.

"Ender, bring us to a safe area where we can recover. The Goddess seal took quite of our power. We need to power up before we can fight. Bring us to Edinburgh hill."

Ender smiled as he bowed.

"As you wish, Zeldris-sama."

Just as Ender was about to teleport everyone away, a small golden blob of energy flew out from the seal and attached itself to Ender.

With a swoosh, Ender teleported all of them away.

Back in Liones, everyone could feel the insane magic power coming from the south. Some could only speculate about what happened, while others knew exactly what it represented.

"Dammit, Ender. You waited for this moment, haven't you?"

"What do you mean we will fight on opposite sites, Meliodas?" asked Diana.

"That means the next time we meet him he will work for our enemies."

Meliodas went to Merlin.

"Hello, Meliodas. What brought you to me?" asked Merlin.

"He is probably here to ask for his power you stole back then."

Both of them turned around and saw Ender sitting in a chair smoking a pipe of smoke to look knowledgeable. He failed admirably.

If glares could kill, Ender would have been dead after the first. Throwing the pipe away, Ender slammed his hands on the table.

"Hey, don't look at me like that. You two knew that someday it would happen. Meliodas, you cannot be pissed at me for reviving them. They, just as me, were once under your command, Captain of the Commandments."

"So, the commandments are free to roam Britania?" muttered Merlin.

"What do you want, Ender? I don't think you came here to annoy me. That is not how you function."

Ender shook his head. "Hey man, I am not a machine! I have feelings too. I came to tell you that the seal took almost their entire energy from them so you have time to take your energy back so you can confront them."

"Why are you helping us, Ender? Aren't you a demon, too?" asked Merlin, confused by the Enderman's overall attitude.

"As I told you, I am Meliodas' friend. Betrayal is not something I do. I fulfilled my wish and have the person back I longed for3000 years. I will harm no one if you give me your word not to harm Melascula."

Merlin fired a beam at Ender, only for Ender to glare at her.

"Stop that! Why do you think that would work?"

While Ender enjoyed seeing his commandment working and getting a laugh out from them, this was certainly not the time.

"I thought the seal on the coffin would weaken you so I could kill you. It did not, a bummer."

Ender stuck out his tongue and turned to leave.

"I would start going to the druids. It could happen that some of them want to go for a walk and I am not in the position to stop them. I, myself, have problems with a certain demon. That's all I wanted to say. Your younger brother is calling for me, see ya."
