Chapter 3: Training for the Academy

"Fuahh... " Lei let out a satisfying breath as he woke up the next morning with a yawn.

This morning felt strangely good and relaxing. He didn't try to go back to sleep despite it being so early and even felt like doing something.

"It is a new world after all" Lei smiled widely and got up. Only the morning was the same. Eat, shower and brush his teeth. Though seeing his childish form in the morning was always nice and surprising, his smile looking both pure and mischievous.

With the morning out of the way, Lei put on his clothes for the day and went outside. He had a small wardrobe he had purchased from the villagers so he didn't have to wash the clothes from yesterday. What he was wearing now was a white hoodie with black highlights and a matching short. It really made him look very soft, making others want to hug him.

Lei wanted to register in the Ninja Academy as soon as possible... but he would most likely require an identity belonging to Konoha. He had an idea on where to do this so he started walking. A trio of circular red buildings connected to the middle building stood tall over the surrounding area. It was the Hokage's Residence, where the Hokage worked to keep the village in control.

Lei figured that this was where he could get an an official identification so he went inside.

"Do you need anything?" A lady sitting behind a reception desk asked. She seemed a bit surprise to see a child here but was otherwise unfazed.

'Most people here should be a shinobi' Lei speculated as he subconsciously sensed a dangerous aura around the lady

He had no power to defend himself whatsoever and was inside a village where any ninja could kill him without trying. The only thing he could do was make himself less suspicious and more docile. Luckily, his appearance helped in this regard.

Lei walked up to the desk, where he had to tip toe for his head to barely reach the counter. "Umm... I came here to change my residence to Konoha"

His voice was the very epitome of innocence, and he used it without regards.

"Oh... can you tell me your name first" The lady seemed to ease up from her work and asked softly

"My name is... Lei Li" Lei answered meekly on the outside but was smiling inside.

'Tsk, tsk, tsk... Too easy. This is why cuteness rules overall! Mwhahaha!' Lei joked to himself childishly.

"I see, now do you have anyone with you?"

Lei was already prepared with a context to explain how he got inside Konoha so he wasn't flustered by the question.

"No, my parent died a year ago... They were protectors of a small village in the Land of Fire"

The lady seemed to tense up on that and followed up with more questions softly. She picked up the details that Lei subtly and intentionally mentioned without suspicion.

"Hmm... It should be alright, Lei. You just need to write down all you know about yourself on this paper"

Lei's face brightened at that. He began writing all he could about 'himself', they didn't seem to care about the name of his previous home, which actually made sense as there were many small villages that was not known by many.

'Hmm, nothing too suspicions' With this Lei's identification should be secured.

"This should be alright. We'll send over everything to your current residence, ok Lei?" The lady confirmed everything and looked at him with a casual smile.

"Okay!" Lei waved goodbye to the stern kind lady and left the building.

His next stop was the training grounds. Hopefully he could find a secluded spot as civilians weren't allowed inside even more so for an outsider like him.

Unfortunately, because he wasn't a ninja yet, Lei couldn't buy a weapon so he couldn't try out his Weapon Mastery.

"I can still play around with chakra at least" Lei consoled himself and was eager to see what he could do with chakra.

...

Lei managed to find a quiet area so he began with his training.

The flow of foreign energy had actually been bothering Lei since he had gotten here. It felt a lot like the circulation of blood but... different. Since it was something he wasn't familiar with, his sensitivity to its movement within his body was unnaturally high.

Lei stood up and focused on his chakra. The origin seem to come from his stomach and distinctly felt that chakra was made up in two forms.

"Probably the Yin and Yang" Lei's watched quite a few episodes of Naruto so he was familiar with how it worked. Yin was spiritual energy, it could create form out of nothing and was heavily used for Genjutsu. Yang was physical energy and was a combination of physical fitness and vitality. Yin brang form and Yang filled life into that form. That was the concept of Yin and Yang release. This was what made up ninjutsu.

However Lei didn't know a single jutsu so he could only experiment with the effects it had in different areas. He didn't seem to have much trouble with controlling the flow of his chakra so he tried something. He built up energy on his right arm and suddenly felt immense pressure pressed on it.

"Ouch!" Lei immediately released the built up chakra and held on to his arm in pain

"Why does it hurt!" Lei cried as he rolled around in pain. He kept asking himself the same question to relieve the pain until he calmed down.

'Umm, maybe the chakra input was too high?' Lei tried again with the intention of gathering less chakra and... It worked.

"Ohh, no pain and it feels like my arm can crush a tree easily" Lei marveled at his arm with starry eyes. However, Lei felt that the chakra built up was quickly getting consumed by his cells and needed more chakra to sustain itself. He didn't have much chakra to begin with so he really needed to see how powerful this was.

"Ha!" Lei punched a nearby tree lightly. His arm dug into the tree with a sharp boom.

"Wha..." Lei's mouth was wide open, his large amber eyes painted in surprise. The tree itself stood fine but there was a large hole in the trunk where a large web originated.

No way was this was natural. Do people that can control chakra immediately become this strong?

"No, no, no... Maybe it's my chakra control? Maybe it's because of my insane sensitivity, I feel like I can control chakra more proficiently than other beginners" It was a very plausible idea. Normally people were born with chakra which brings their lack of awareness of chakra before practicing. Lei was different, he was born in a world without chakra. Suddenly having one flow through his body was definitely weird and unnatural.

"But this doesn't fully explain how my chakra control in so good..." Lei put his tiny hands on his cheek and thought.

"Oh well, it is what it is" In the end it was something that made his life easier. There was no need to dwell on it for now.

What he was be worried about now is how to get his hand off the tree he just destroyed. Simply pulling it out would be painful as there were tiny shards of wood from his punch.

'I think I'll just make it a bit wider...' Lei thought simply and nodded.

This time Lei didn't gather his chakra to his whole arm, but controlled it so that it was focused in the cells of his major muscles while still supplying the rest some chakra. This ultimately strengthened his arm to the same degree as gathering chakra and supplying it equally across but with a much lower amount of chakra. Although he did feel that punching another tree with this would brake his arm as it wasn't as solid. That was probably why people trained their body, to handle the power of chakra.

Lei went home after getting his hand unstuck and came to the same place everyday for the next couple of days. He always made sure no one was around so he wasn't found out and kicked out. Lei mostly trained his chakra and managed to not only do the tree climbing practice in his first try but also the water walking practice within a few tries. He seemed to have a talent in chakra control which was definitely a good thing. But perhaps his biggest find was the fact that his already masterful chakra control becomes perfect when entering Absolute Accuracy. He felt no loss in chakra when he did this which was awesome as although he didn't know how his chakra compared to others, it would get exhausted after a few minutes of tree climbing practice.

The true potential of this however was that it would most likely allow him to perform jutsus that requires a long time of practice without going through the practice. Well, as long as he knew how the jutsu worked and had enough chakra.

And that was why Lei also started on his physical training. Yang could be improved by increasing his physical capabilities. This increases a person's chakra reserves so he began building his STR and AGI stats.

Besides that, he also went to the library everyday in order to read about chakra theory. Unfortunately, he wasn't allowed access to the ninjutsu scrolls before becoming a Genin but reading through what he could allowed him to achieve his purpose. Yin could be improved by the accumulation of experience and mental strength, he could do nothing with accumulation of experience. But mental strength was correlated to the INT stat which was why he went here daily.

Everything he did this past day made his status much different. It now looked like this:

[HP - 160 (STR x END x 10) / Energy: 100 (STR x AGI x INT)]

[Stats - STR: 4 / AGI: 5 / INT: 5 / END: 4]

[Abilities:]

- [Universal Energy: Can integrate all energy; Chakra, Ki, Reiatsu, etc into one system]

- [Absolute Accuracy: Accuracy of any action becomes absolute in five minutes. 1H cool-down]

- [Weapon Mastery: +500 affinity to all weapons. Basic handling of any weapon in user's hand is integrated into mind and body.]

[Skills:]

- [Pick-pocketing: Proficiency in stealing another's possession without getting caught. Lvl 3/ Lvl 10]

- [Chakra Control: Efficiency in manipulating chakra. Lvl 7/ Lvl 10]

- [Chakra Enhancement: Gathers chakra into the body to increase STR, AGI and END. Lvl 8/ Lvl 10]

So... Lei gained about two points in each stats. From what he could tell, five points was the average for adults. So that meant he was comparable to an adult now in terms of stats. He didn't buy a new ability from the shop so the ability tab stayed the same, not that he could buy anything with the amount of points he had.

As for skills, Lei gained Chakra Control and Chakra Enhancement.

Lei's Chakra control had started at lvl 4 which just proved how talented he was at manipulating his chakra. He just had to familiarize himself to his chakra pathways and he got to lvl 7. He started Chakra enhancement started at lvl 2 and managed to train it to lvl 8 through repetition. It was fairly high leveled as it relied on Chakra control, which he didn't lack.

Lei also leveled his Pick-pocketing skill two times as he had to pay his lodgings and daily needs. He had enough money to last through one year now if he used it conservatively but it was also getting harder to steal with people reporting to the shinobis more and more. Not that he planned on stealing more than he needed but it was troublesome.

But enough about that, good news just came through this morning! Lei finally got an official ID Card belonging to Konoha. It seemed like professionalism stayed the same in spite of age or world as he had to have a straight face when he got his picture taken. It was just ridiculous to look at, the boy in the picture looked so serious but it couldn't hide his cute charm at all.

Anyway, what this meant for Lei was that he could finally enter the Ninja Academy. It was essential to become a Shinobi if he wanted access to those sweet jutsus at the library. He also needed another way to make income for his decreasing money.

He was entering next week.

Lei won't stay at the academy for too long, because let's be honest, there's nothing the academy can really teach him besides the basics. He's better off learning through missions
