Chapter 3: Johnathan

I felt unquiet as I saw the rows of heads turned to face me. I took heavy steps towards the first bench while walking my eyes met hers and before I could scan them, they moved. I knew her, she was Abigail Miller- a popular kid and a nerd.

Well, high school is not about learning, it's about how one gets bullied and how one kid can destroy another kid's life. To look at, bullying is common among high schoolers, everyone is bullied in one or the other way. 'Some are bullied by actual bullies while some are bullied by their own thoughts' and that's the piece of advice, knowledge which was given by my dear, very dear friend, Ethan.

We met during the time of admission.

He was notorious but yet his words never failed to impress.

Ms. Lily started teaching, her voice was not as beautiful as her face, it felt like somebody was forcing her to teach.

When it comes to math, numbers are my preferred choice. It's amusing, enlivening. It is like you and me, our lives, it creates problems and draws conclusions. It's kind of neat and tells you the truth, not more nor less. You cannot change it. You simply solve things you don't know with the help of things you already know, step by step just like life. Things need to be solved slowly, step by step.

10:00 A.M.

A mitigatory sound escaped from everyone's mouth as the bell rang. When I turned around, I saw Abigail scribbling. Her scribbles looked like a bird while some looked like clouds and some were just scribbles. By the time I realized I was staring at her for too long, she closed her book, grabbed her belongings and got up from her seat. Before leaving she glared at Molly and nevertheless, Molly quickly replied with a nod.

In the hallway I saw people, a bunch of people, gathered, forming a circle around the notice board. Molly ran, pushed everyone behind and squirreled among the crowd and was soon in front of the wooden board.

Abigail was tiptoeing, it was the time when I noticed her immensely for the first time. Her body turned around me and our eyes met. We starred at each other. I could hear my thoughts scream inside "what is she thinking?"

"MILLER!"

I heard molly scream, she was a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed girl; a noisy exuberant youngster.

Abigail broke the mutual gaze and turned around.

"Anything important?"she asked.

"I guess it's for you," she pulled out her phone and showed her a picture.

"Poetry club?"

"I thought you were deaf, never knew your vision is worse than my late grandmother, " molly jested.

Abigail just stared icily at her,

"when?"

"In fifteen," she said while zooming the picture.

"I'll think about it."

" IN FIFTEEN MILLER!" Molly stressed upon those words.

"You're going."

"And what gives you the right to decide?" She frowned.

"I would like to ignore that question," molly said. "And what about you latecomer? You intend to eavesdrop and not take part in this interesting conversation? Perhaps, leaving the fact that some people try to make it boring."

Now she was facing me while pointing her index finger at me. From the corner of my eyes I could see Abigail who was now looking at her feet.

I cleared my throat, pulled out my phone and tapped on the screen so it would display the time: 10:07 a.m.

"Eight left," I said in a low and husky voice almost inaudible.

"Jeez. Speak louder maybe?" Molly said.

"I guess I'll go and, I wasn't eavesdropping, was just wondering what the notice was about," I mumbled and before I could leave molly said, "Great! So you two are going together!"

I turned around and with a confused stare, trying to understand if she's asking or demanding.

"Me?" I asked.

"And Abby," molly said.

"Wait, I never agreed to that," Abigail glanced up.

"I'm being a good friend here Miller, either you'll go to that club when I'm asking you, here, now, politely or else I'll let Mrs. Miller ask you to join the club. I'm sure you don't want to say no to her, right?" Molly said.

I was confused if I should go or stay. Having no clue what was going on I decided to remind them the time again.

"It's 10:12, do you want me to wait or should I go?" I asked and regretted it the very next minute.

"Go, and take her with you. Enjoy!" She winked.

I looked at Abigail and she looked back.

I wanted to ask her if she really wanted to come because I am good at keeping secrets, Molly wouldn't know but I kept quiet.

I pleaded my brain and my mouth to be attached and speak things that are necessary, nothing useless.
