Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Spirit Bones
After Feng Qin exited the workshop, he went on to find a medical store and a plant store.
At the medical store, he bought about 300 spirit gold coins worth of medicine, bandages, spiritual healing herbs, and 4 vials of ten year old Blood Orchids that cost 200 spirit gold coins.
While at a plant store, he managed to find a few plant type spirit beasts suitable to train the next level of the Heretical Spirit Body Strengthening Art and the Heavenly Vast Universe Art.
Having quick and explosive progress in his cultivation, it left his foundation unstable. It was one of the reasons why he was eager to get inside the city, as he wanted to strengthen his foundation and avoid any potential dangers in his cultivation process.
'These herbs should help consolidate my cultivation...' Feng Qin thought to himself as he picked up the plants he needed.
He purchased a 500 year old Violet Sun Vine, a 800 year old Nine Nether Leaf Lotus, a 640 years old Soul Grass, and a 550 years old Blood Ginseng, spending a total of 2,000 spirit gold coins.
"Thank you for your purchase!"
Feng Qin's eye twitched as he looked down at the leather sack in his hand, containing all his purchased goods, with dead eyes.
'...Cultivation resources, are expensive.' All he's got left was a total of 1,300 spirit gold coins left. If average people were to get a hold of these coins, they would be living luxuriously for their entire lifetime.
However, for cultivators(spirit masters) like Feng Qin, it was just a drop in the bucket. He knew that he needed to accumulate more resources to keep up with his rapid cultivation progress.
With a sigh, Feng Qin adjusted his sack and stepped onto the bustling streets of the city, moving on to his next destination.
"Long Yuyin should be done by now. I should check up on her to see if she manage to find anything about her "tail" situation with that book's help."

Feng Qin entered the Grand Fortune Library once more, after leaving the stuff he bought back at their inn, and after waving at Mei Lin at the front desk, he went to where he last saw Long Yuyin.
He raised an eyebrow, finding her at the same spot, but now with a pile of at least five books by her side and a new book in her hands, reading with desperate concentration.
'I see...' Feng Qin weakly smiled, realizing that she hadn't manage to find the information that she needed, he went up by her side and gently put his hand on her shoulder.
Although Long Yuyin was busy in reading her book, somehow, she could feel her master was in her general area and was getting closer, so she didn't so much as flinch when she felt Feng Qin by her side, grabbing her shoulder.
"Hey. I reckon you didn't find what you were looking for." Feng Qin said, eyeing the books stacked by Long Yuyin's side.
Long Yuyin grumbled, deeply sighing, she closed her book shut. "Yes, I did not. Although all these books contain a lot of fascinating theories and research, none of them has the solution to my problem."
"Though...there is one possibility I found, but the chance of me getting one and this," she pointed at her tail wrapped around her waist. "being one is just absurd. I've never heard this being part of the spirit bones' set."
"Spirit bones' set?"
Long Yuyin turned towards her master in surprise. "Feng Qin, you don't know about spirit bones?"
"I've only just heard about them. Just that my teacher at the academy told me that they're incredibly rare and even a Titled Douluo wouldn't have one in their entire lifetime. So she didn't tell me and the rest of my classmates anything about it." Feng Qin said as he took a seat next to her. It really was, as even the numerous textbooks in the academy barely mentioned anything about spirit bones.
Long Yuyin hummed, resting both her elbows on the table, she put her chin on her hands. "Your teacher isn't wrong... but she shouldn't be so incompetent and lazy as to not tell my master about spirit bones." she muttered, displeased. She shook her head and started explaining,
"Spirit bones, as you can guess from the name, is a special type of bones which are left following the death of a Spirit Beast, similar to a spirit ring. The chances of a Spirit Beast dropping the Spirit Bones are extremely rare. Generally speaking, the lower the cultivation of a Spirit Beast, the lower the probability of producing a Spirit Bone. But the possibility of dropping a Spirit Bone does increase if the Spirit Beast feels a huge amount of resentment before getting killed, dies willingly or if the Spirit Beast are grateful for their death.
The number of 100-year spirit bones was the least; 10-year soul bones didn't exist at all. Relatively speaking, there are more 1,000-year spirit bones and 10,000-year spirit bones in recorded history. But 100,000-year soul bones are extremely rare because 100,000-year spirit beasts are too few and powerful to kill.
Spirit Bones can be sold and bought, but at a supremely high prices. Even wars occur to take these bones. There were once two countries that fought for a 20,000 year old Spirit Bone and lots of people died. That is why, the 10,000 year old Spirit Bones are also known as the Treasures of the Bloody River." She let out a deep breath, feeling her jaw slightly tired from explaining all that.
Feng Qin's eyes were wide. He knew they were rare and sought after, but he didn't know it was to the point of nations having a bloody war!
"For them to be so important...could they give spirit abilities just like a spirit ring?" He muttered out a likely guess.
Long Yuyin nodded. "Yes. Spirit Bones are considered as extremely important, as much as Spirit Rings, as they provide new abilities to the spirit master. Not only can a spirit bone strengthen the bone whichever area it is contained in, but it can also strengthen everything within, including meridians, muscles, bones, and so on."
"So, having a spirit bone is a comprehensive enhancement to the body. Unlike the spirit rings, spirit bones will not disappear because of the death of a spirit master and will remain. As long as they are not destroyed, they will be preserved forever."
She paused, scratching her cheek. "Actually, my family has like a dozen or so spirit bones in store as a family heritage...And I was told that I'd be getting one when I get my third spirit ring, and well, I had so." she stared at him with wide, nervous eyes.
'Just how fucking rich is her family?!' Feng Qin stared at her with a incredulous look, wondering if it was really a good idea to bring a potential time bomb with him or not, shaking his head. Welp, can't cry over spilled milk. He just hopes that they'll talk to him before they go kill him.
Now that he thinks about it, he never really got to know more about Long Yuyin. Damn. His parents would be disappointed in him for not getting to know a girl, especially a cute and hot one like her. His mom would strangle him.
Well, how was he supposed to get over the fact he got a hot girl, who's talented in the spirit power cultivation and has a high quality spirit, as a brainwashed slave! Having a conversation with her isn't easy when you aren't sure if you're talking to the real her than her brainwashed self.
'...How am I supposed to reply to her right now? Sure, let's go find your family that will most likely kill me the moment they find out that I bounded you, involuntarily, as my blood slave!?' He was bewildered, not knowing what to do.
Let's go for deflecting right now.
Feng Qin rubbed his chin, pretending to be deep in thought. "Well, you think this tail you have right is probably a spirit bone? Actually, what type of spirit bones are there?"
Long Yuyin tilted her head with a pondering expression. "Hm. As far as I know, a spirit master can have 6 Spirit Bones on 6 parts of the body, which cannot be overlapped. According to their importance, they are as follows: Torso Bone, Skull Bone, Left Arm Bone, Right Arm Bone, Left Leg Bone, and Right Leg Bone."
Her brows furrowed, "But. This tail doesn't belong in any of the six types of spirit bones except... no, it can't be. There's just no way I'm this lucky." she shook her head, her expression changed to that of restrained excitement.
"Long Yuyin?" He called out for her, confused.
"Ah, sorry Master. I'm just thinking of the seventh type of spirit bone... the External Spirit Bone."
"An External Spirit Bone?" Feng Qin repeated.
"External Spirit Bones are extremely rare forms of Spirit Bones which deviates from the normal six Spirit Bone infusion sites. Examples are nails for claws, wings, an extra pair of animal ears, and...tails." She unfurls the long, leathery tail with a blade for its tip and showed it to Feng Qin. "If I truly have an External Spirit Bone, it means that I have a unique and powerful ability that nobody else does. Their value is immeasurable and second only to 100,000 year Spirit Rings. Because they have the possibility to grow and evolve into higher forms."
"That's amazing!" Feng Qin exclaimed, "But, how can you confirm if you really have an External Spirit Bone? Is there any way to find out?"
"Well, the most reliable way is by getting it checked at the Lord Spirit Hall, every Spirit Hall Temple has one. There's one here in the city, but the fees are quite high." Long Yuyin replied with a pout.
Feng Qin thought for a moment before reaching into his pocket, "How much do you need?"
Long Yuyin blinked in surprise, but then shook her head, "No, it's fine. I'm from a noble family, I can pay for it myself."
Feng Qin raised an eyebrow, "Are you sure? I don't mind helping you out."
Long Yuyin shook her head again, "It's fine, Master. I don't want to trouble you with my problems."
He shrugged, "Alright then, but let me know if you need help. Also, call me Feng Qin."
Long Yuyin's lips upturned, she leaned closer towards him, her head tilted, "But there's only us here and I quite preferably like calling you my, Mas~ter~" she said, with a sly smirk.
Feng Qin felt his cheeks heat up, "Y-yeah, well, we're outside now, so just call me by my name."
Long Yuyin chuckled, "As you wish, Feng Qin."
They spent a few more minutes chatting before Feng Qin decided it was time to head outside and explore more of the city to wait for his weapon to be finished.
As they stand up to walk out of the library, Feng Qin couldn't help but feel relieved that he managed to deflect Long Yuyin's request about her family's spirit bones. He knew that it was a ticking time bomb and he needed to be careful.
'Still, an External Spirit Bone huh...' He inwardly hummed, curiously staring at the curled tail around Long Yuyin's waist at the high possibility of it being a rare External Spirit Bone. She did obtained it after absorbing that Bloodfyre Wyvern's spirit ring.
And since the possible External Spirit Bone came from the same origin, its ability/ies? And probably even the third spirit ring ability might be augmented.
His licked his lips, he couldn't help but feel excited. He never saw a spirit bone before, not even something similar in the Sword Immortal's memories!
...Was it just him, or was Long Yuyin's hips swaying more pronounced than before?
He halted, eyes narrowed. Feng Qin turned his head over his shoulder.
'...What was that? That dark, cold feeling I just felt...'
He quickly dismissed the thought and continued to walk with Long Yuyin, but the feeling lingered on in his mind. He couldn't shake it off no matter how hard he tried.
'Is it just my imagination?' He thought to himself, not wanting to think too much about it. There were much more pressing matters to deal with, such as getting his new sword, their training and Long Yuyin's tail situation.
Setting his doubts aside, Feng Qin focused on the tasks at hand, ready to face whatever challenges that lay ahead.
