Chapter 16: 15 Unable to Leave
It has been three days after the incident, Ally has just missed another working day. Woon Young didn't even bother to call her up after her meeting with Aunty Chae. Ally heard that after she has fainted, Woon Young arrived and had a fierce argument with her mother.
Some guy named Takashi saved her that day before she falls to the hard wood floor. She barely remembers that guy but Henri told her Takashi seemed to know her well. She remembered waking up laying down on the bed with Lisa beside her and a huge guy; Takashi standing on far from the bed crossing his arms while leaning onto the wall quietly.
The feeling of disappointment from that incident still lingering in her mind. Not disappointed with Aunty Chae but she was expecting someone else. She smiled at her own silliness. He can't be possible to be there during that embarrassing situation. Ally shook her head.
"Talking about recover," a sudden familiar teasing voice reached her ear. "Finally I see that cute shy smile." Ally doesn't have to turn around to see Henri walking towards her. "Care to share?"
Ally shook her head ignoring his request only realised a few familiar luggage behind him. 'Woon Young with her stubborn decision, huh.' Ally let out a sigh. "Thanks with that, Henri. Sorry for the trouble."
"It's fine. William's friend is my friend too. He had it sent in a moment ago." Henri stands beside her on the porch looking down to the Han River view up ahead. The cold wind blows softly sway her hair now has grown longer to shoulder length. "Feeling better?"
Ally nodded and smile. She doesn't want to talk about it with anyone. It doesn't matter what Aunty Chae said. Julian should be informed about this. But, it has been a few months but there's still no reply from him.
Ally wants to leave and look for Julian in UK but her boss has confiscated her passport and deny her from leaving South Korea for that matters.
"Are you alone?" Henri took a seat on the porch while relaxing his body on the lounge seat, looking at her with questions.
"Aye. Lisa left while you gone."
"Who's that other guy?"
"Takashi?" Ally reminded of what Lisa had told her before she left. "We met in Osaka before. That's all I remember." Madam Chae knew about her going to the bridal boutique. She was furious with Woon Young and of course, she can't really be mad with her precious daughter. So, Ally was the only person who gets all the blame. Takashi was on the scene when she had her headache attack. Nobody else. Ally was confused with her story. She thought she smelled a familiar masculine scent before she passed out. She was hoping he was there.
"He looks like a nice guy."
"Don't be silly," Ally pursed her lips annoyed with the query. "He's just being helpful to me. That's all."
"Well, I'm not so sure about that." Henri has been staring at her closely saw her tiny dimple on her left cheek as she smiles. "You should often smile, Ally chan."
"Hey, since when did you start to behave like a Japanese guy?" Ally pouted, looking away. "I am old enough to be your big sister."
"Aye right, like William and I ever care about your age and that Woon Young's." Henri glared at her with disappointment look on his face. "Why does it even matters when a man and a woman love each other?" Henri left the porch railing and walks to towards her. He took the seat beside Ally.
"Tehehe... Like you even believe in love yourself," Ally chuckled at his comment on love. "You're not qualified to comment on this."
"So, ain't you the busy bee. You have been observing me, don't you," Henri turned to face Ally with his elbows on top of the table. "Is that why you refuse to date me, Nunna? You know I love to date an older woman."
"Pfft... In your dream." Ally chuckled awkwardly at his banter. Ally knew what he means with it. Something happened in his life that makes him more into older women and being playful with the younger women. What a pathetic life. Woon Young did share some story about Henri's life without his mother. He was taken away from her mother by his Japanese father during his come of age leaving her with only his little stepsister.
"You know something," Henri looks down on his feet when he said this. "Couples doesn't really have to love each other to get married?"
THUD!
Her heart painful pounding at his comment. She looks away sadly. She knew that. In the past, she had been one with those relationships. She swore on her son's name that she will never be that kind of relationship anymore.
A one-sided kind of relationship only bore a painful life that every woman won't want to experience. There's nobody for her. Maybe that is her life destiny.
"I never knew you have this side of you," Ally replied without looking at him. Henri looks puzzled at her before realised what she talking about and smiled meaningfully.
"Ah, I see. Looks like I did charm you there," Henri stares seductively at her. "How should it proceed from this sudden confession? "
"You're an idiot if you dare to love me," Ally stern voice didn't bother him at all. "Hehe.. stop with the staring please." Her flushes face deepening.
"I love watching you being shy." Henri continues with his flirting.
"By the way," Ally shook her head and stands awkwardly away from him. "Thanks for letting me stay here. I'll try to look for somewhere to stay."
"You're an evil witch, did someone ever told you that?" Henri chuckled at her cleverly changing the subject. Ally didn't look surprised nor dare to answer him. She did hear someone did tell her that before. Am I really can't live as a normal life? Whatever reason Henri said that it doesn't matter. Maybe she is a witch. A poor modern and helpless witch that is. Without wand.
She's like a male charmer. More or less that was what Woon Young & Aada told her before. But not Ruth. To Ruth, Ally just a homewrecker slut. 'Well, the only slut that bore the only son for the husband.' Ally shuddered at the thoughts. Her little Angelo is no more with her.
Ally frown recalling her fierce argument with Woon Young yesterday. Ally admitted she might be harsh to her best friend.
"Ruth," Ally flinched at the name mention. Even after the death of her husband and little Angelo almost two years ago, her name still carries some weight to her emotion.
"How..." Ally's voice shaky. "What did you just said?"
"Did you remember Bryan; Julian's friend?" Woon Young started. Ally brows knitted with confusion. She explained about the current situation with Ruth, the legal widow in their marriage. It seemed that it was not favourable for her to return just yet. Julian's friend is handling with that matters. Subpoena had been an issue out for Ally. Unfortunately, Woon Young didn't mention about the details of the subpoena.
For that reason, Woon Young has decided to lock her down in this Korea motherland. And, today Lisa mentioned about Woon Young somehow has made an agreement with her mother that day before Aunty Chae left for Singapore yesterday.
"Hey, do you heard about William's future mother in law had an accident?"
It took Ally some time to process the info frowning. "What?" Ally dumbfounded it a little weird. "How so? Is she hurt herself?"
"Why do you even care about that arrogant old woman," Henri turned to her with dislike at Ally's response.
"Well, she doesn't that kind of woman in the old days that I met her though." Ally answered comforting Henri.
"She broke her pretty leg," Henri explained. Although he was not fond of William's mother in law, he still acting hard to please his cousin. "Still insist to go back to Singapore." Ally heaved a relieved sigh. "But, something is weird. Police think that her car has been sabotage. Looks like she might have offended someone."
