Chapter 2: Chapter 1

"You're here to study at South Hill University?" The immigration staff asked Chance as she flipped through his documents from behind the counter. "Yes," he nodded at the question, he looked quite nervous since it was his first time traveling abroad alone. Somehow he felt like he was being interrogated even though he knows that this is the normal procedure when entering another country.

"Where will you stay while you're enrolling?" She asked again.

"Ah, At my cousin's house. He lives near Southpark I believe, here's his address," Chance answered as he showed the staff his relatives address on the phone. The fox lady nodded in confirmation and stamped the passport.

"Welcome to Ailurpine," the lady smiled as she gave Chance his passport back. With a thank, he took his green passport and save it in his bag. He took a deep breath as he left the counter towards his new life in a place far from home.

Right when Chance reached the exit gate, he saw a crowd of people holding signs with names on it while the holder keeps looking at the gate to search among hundreds of people coming out from it. The brown rabbit looked around to saw if his name in one of those signs, but before he scanned half of the signs there his phone rings. "Hello?" He answered the call and on the other side of the phone, he heard familiar faces plus some background crowd noises.

"9 o'clock," the voice instructed. Chance was confused for a bit before realizing he needs to look to the left. As he did so, he immediately spotted a grey wolf with his phone on and looking straight at him. The canine's other hand waved while he lowers his phone right after Chance started walking towards him. He wore a blue sleeveless hoodie accompanied by black khaki shorts and his signature flat cap that he always wears.

"You know Roderick... You can use sign instead of instructing me like some secret agent," Chance said to the wolf with a smile. Roderick replied by embracing his shoulder and chuckled.

"I rather run around the airport looking for you instead of holding those stupid embarrassing signs. I swear I even saw one of them sprayed with glitters," the wolf said while they keep walking towards the parking lot.

Chance's cousin moved here about 5 years ago when he entered high school. The government of Ailurpine wanted to increase the number of young students in the city, hence annually they gave special scholarships, ranged from high school to university for 100 chosen individuals and Roderick is one of them. It was a really generous decision at the surface, until the rumors said the government did that to stole potential geniuses from other countries. Whatever the motives are, it didn't really matter for Chance. He was lucky that his application to the University got accepted and he now lives in this city-state.

"Heads up," Chance snapped from his train of thought when he heard Roderick calling for him followed saw a helmet flying towards his face. The rabbit yelped as he caught the falling helmet with his arm.

"Oi! Careful!" Chance protested but the wolf laughed instead of apologizing.

"Hop on, we're going to have a little city tour," Roderick said as he started his moped.

---

Aliurpine is a quite large city even for a city-state. The cousins only covered the main part of the central city, the region where towering concrete jungle, busy and bustling street, and huge shopping plazas with LED billboards on every corner. This part is not the biggest part of this city and that still took more than an hour. Sitting on a hot moped seat for that amount of time really uncomfortable for Chance, though Roderick seems fine and still introducing the city like a professional tour guide.

They took a simple lunch in the late afternoon at some burger chain restaurant outside the central city before continuing their tour into a more lush part of Ailurpine, GreenHilton. It was surrounded by hills and the building is more simple yet still modern looking. One biggest hill in particular and the area surrounding it act as a national park while the smaller one filled with either luxurious mansions or another scenic trail park.

"...and to the left, you can see South Hill University or SHU," Roderick said while pointing to the most southern hill. Chance could see the iconic main building on top of the hill and then several class building on the hill's slope.

The main building is actually a grand theatre with architecture resembling a cornucopia that also acts as a landmark. Roderick drove his moped up into the peak of the hill and stopped right in front of the administration building exactly right beside the main building. "Wait, why we're stopping..." Chance looked around in confusion before his cousin pulled out pages of paper in front of him.

"I already printed your documents sent by your parents plus a couple of things that required. You can submit it right now and finish the registration process today," Roderick said while waving the documents.

"Dude, I just got here," Chance looked with disbelief but took the papers anyway. His eye alternatively looking at the paper and his cousin's face.

"Everything you need is in there, left your baggage here and finish the business. Chop chop" the wolf smiled and patted Chance's back. The rabbit, who still stunned, sighed then walked into the administration building, leaving the lupine alone on his moped.
