Chapter 1: Home is Any Four Walls That Enclose The Right Person

Have you ever peeked at a cat gazing at the Moon above? How their eyes dilated as if they have been entranced by the Moon's beauty?

Believe it or not, one rare cat from a mysterious magical world admires the Moon vastly.

The black cat's pupil shaped like a waning crescent moon, with a greenish sclera, staring intently at the Moon from a tree as if he was waiting for something to happen.

This cat believes that when 11:11 P.M. comes, an auspicious sign would appear and he would always watch it while sitting on a tree in the forest.

November 05, 1999

"Luther." the cat.

A graceful elderly man whose white hair feathered quiff with a long white beard called the cat.

"Good evening master Lord Garret."

The cat greeted his master as he dropped to the ground and bowed while maintaining a creepy smile, although, Luther always had a creepy smile, Lord Garret was used to it.

Lord Garret cleared his throat before he says, "11:11 pm is an auspicious light."

Luther, the cat gently nodded.

"I believe so."

"And you are the light that would take care of my granddaughter." The Lord responded with no emotion.

"Oh master, what do you mean?"

"I don't have much time left, I can feel my end is near."

Luther was shocked by hearing what his master said.

He too knows he's strong enough to get along for another year, but that would be it. He adored Lord Garret of all the masters he served, that is why he is holding on.

Luther was with Lord Garret when he patched his destiny and ultimately helped him become the master. For him, No one deserves the title more than his master.

"But why am I the one you chose, master?"

"Because I trust you most out of all the followers that I have. You are secretive, mischievous, wise, but most importantly, you are my closest friend."

Luther felt honored but it somehow made him weary. Now that he was entrusted with an important task, he can't stop thinking about what kind of future is ahead of him.

He looked at the Moon's reflection on a small puddle, looking worried he uttered to himself, "The Moon."

His master silently nodded.

"There will come a day where I would be gone and no one can ever see me again."

Luther's face darkened hearing what his master said.

Lord Garret's hand lightly brushed Luther's head, "But that doesn't mean I won't be able to see you all." his master added.

Luther's face once again regained its warmth.

"Oh and that 7-year-old fellow back on the Moon, he must be very lonely." Lord Garret.

"There is still someone left there?" It surprised Luther that he replied "Meow" and looked upon the moon.

His pupils dilated again.

"The child is there," Luther uttered to himself.

"I can understand the sorrow and loneliness he is feeling, being left there with no one to talk to."

"When the day that he finally comes down here, follow him. But don't forget that your top priority is my granddaughter, Lilou. Look after her from the shadows, and when you think that the time is right, guide her."

"But master..."

"Make my granddaughter a stronger woman. A woman who can save and trust many humans or not. Support her in everything she does. Raise her right, and let her grow with the teachings of Our God. Help her conquer her fears!"

As he finished his sentence, Lord Garret turned to walk away back to his shack where baby Lilou cries for the touch of a grandfather's hand.

"Master wait-"

Minutes after his Master's departure.

A guest arrived.

"Confucius!"

Confucius, Lord Garret's arch-nemesis; the one who killed Lilou's mother.

Lord Garret's battle with Confucius was a disastrous defeat for him. He lost his beloved son, Jeilou Garret and his daughter-in-law died while fighting Confucius.

"After all the mercilessness you had done from the family, what do you want from us now?"

Confucius grinned. "I was clearly unsatisfied with the battle six months ago. I couldn't stop feeling that he's somehow alive." his palms pressed together as he walked gently towards Luther.

Luther knew he was referring to Lord Garret, unable to warn his master now.

"Such a pity, hiding in the human world." he continued.

"If there's anyone that'll leave you satisfied, that would be me, but only if you could devour this body of mine." Luther was acting confident and all mighty, he knew Confucius too well.

"Now that irritates me."

"I have no intentions of killing you. Besides, you don't have any powers left for me to absorb. But one thing is for sure, whatever I do henceforth, you can never stop me. And if you hinder my path once more, you know what awaits you!"

A minute of silence was brushed off by the wind.

"My job here is done. Stay out of the moon if you want to keep living." He turned away and vanishes.

Luther was never sure of what the intruder did earlier but-

"Could it be-"

Luther heads back to his master's side immediately, only to see a handful of blood smeared on his master's mouth after he crashed through the window.

He never knew that Confucius would be able to kill his master with relative ease. He didn't even see him raise a finger in the whole exchange.

Luther realizes Confucius is now an undefeated foe. He absorbed a lot of power from the dead, to control and kill. He couldn't bear what happened to his master and even thought that perhaps this was all a stupid dream.

He rose immediately upon hearing a baby's cry.

"Lilou!"

"Master knew Confucius would be here?" He couldn't have had the time to hide Lilou under the sink's cabinet.

Luther was devastated but he held strong, he knew that he still had an important mission.

After burying his beloved master, Luther went to a village nearby. It was raining hard and no one was outside their homes. He looked at all the houses in the village, as if choosing which one he would gladly be born in.

It looks like almost all the houses in the village are in deep sleep. People should be scared walking down the road with flickered street lights in this looking haunted town.

As soon as he thought he found a new home for Lilou, he dropped a basket in front of one's door, rang the bell, and jumped away to quickly hide in the bush.

Hoping to adopt her as their new member of the family.

The owners of the house opened their door and what greeted them was a baby wrapped in a silver coat placed in a basket. The baby was sound asleep and not even the rain could seem to wake her up.

But contrary to Luther's expectation, no one in the village wanted to take Lilou in. Some didn't even give Lilou a second glance and just shut their doors closed.

Luther realizes how the villagers are afraid of having new responsibilities because they are poverty-stricken.

The half-night passed.

No one in the village wanted to have Lilou but Luther never loses hope because he was born to fulfill all of his missions.

He searched the other side of the village where a group of people found having an enjoyable campfire. He heard them talking about monstrous ogres living in this town and that could harm many families.

They're hated by the villagers and could not be trusted because of the said history that were taught by the government.

"Ogres are born to be destroyed. Meant to be destroyed!" The man exclaimed.

A moment of a baby's cry

"Is that a baby crying?"

Luther hid himself from the bush after he slowly pushes the basket with his head towards them.

All of them were shocked as soon as they found a baby in the basket behind them.

"Oh no! I can't have another responsibilities!"

Luther was a bit worried to see the same reaction all over again.

"Who brought this baby here? He or she must have left a minute ago. What do we do with this boss?"

"Dispose that shit!" Their boss ordered as he dropped his cigarette to the ground but a lot of them disagreed with the idea.

Suddenly, one huge Ogre just came out of nowhere!

Seeing that no one in the village wanted to take care of the baby. Ogre stood up and walked to the basket. When he was about to reach for the baby, the villagers got mad.

"Keep your big dirty hands away from that baby!" One man waved his torch to scare off the Ogre. "This is the first warning!"

The Ogre slowly turned his back unwieldy, as for their trembling body waiting to face a monster.

"Uhh. U-hh." Frightened villagers slowly retreats in cowered, and subconsciously dropped a single torch out of fear as they ran away immediately before Ogre could face them.

"Tch!"

He scooped up the basket with the wailing infant inside. A message was attached to the silver coat, which he noticed.

Take care of Lilou.

The Ogre would look after the baby even if he didn't read the note. That night, he left the village with a baby wrapped in his arms. He was overjoyed at the prospect of having a daughter.

Unbeknownst to the ogre, Luther the black cat was keeping a close eye on him.
