Chapter 6: Breakfast and Tea (2)
The driver got there on time as always and waited for Akiaya to come down. She normally comes down by 8:15 but when she didn't arrive, he grew anxious. When it was thirty minutes past her usual leave time he phoned the CEO. "Sir, Miss Akiaya hasn't come down yet…" Just as he was about to ask what did he want to do she came down the stairs. "My apologies sir she's here now." The call ended before Akiaya got in. "Hello Ryeo. Sorry for being late." She elegantly got in. Ryeo rushed to the driver's side after closing the door. Ryeo put his foot on the accelerator and the car lurched before speeding off into the morning traffic.
It took longer for her to get to the office than normal. When she finally arrived her father, Geun Hye, was waiting outside the doors with his arms folded across his chest and a scowl displayed on his face. She knew her dad would be extremely upset if he found out what happened last night. His only daughter sullying herself with a stranger no less he would be livid. Akiaya tried to give him her best smile but that only worked so far. "EUM AKIAYA MARIE RAN CHUN-HEI!!!! WHAT TIME DO YOU THINK IT IS?" His voice got softer and he whispered conspiratorially to her. "Did you finally get a boyfriend? Is that why you're late? Up all night discussing the theory of relativity? Oh my precious Akia you've finally matured." Akiaya looked at him dumbfounded, then recovered herself. She flicked him in the forehead. "Sir I apologize for my tardiness but my private life is none of your concern even if you are my father. And what father teases his daughter about maturing and getting a boyfriend. You are so weird." She walked past him into the building. He followed behind her whining about her rebuttal. "But Akia, it would be so awesome if you had a lover. My precious daughter and a handsome young man whispering sweet nothings in each others ear! Oh the cuteness!" He clasped his hands together. She immediately stopped causing him to run into her back. He felt the air around him turn cold. She turned to him with her head tilted to the side with a menacing smile on her face. Geun Hye stepped back instantly knowing he took his hope's to far out loud. "Eum Geun Hye if you continue acting like a immature man instead of my father I will tell the company of your secret guilty pleasure. Heh." She turned around forcefully, with her hair in a single ponytail it splashed across his face. Akiaya continued to walk towards the elevators.
The doors opened, Victor and his assistant walked out in a hurry nearly colliding into her. She managed to move out the way in time. Victor stopped in surprised to see her. "My apologies Miss Akiaya. We're running late for a meeting I didn't see you there. Have a great morning." He started to leave but then stopped. He turned to face her once more. "Could we have lunch together sometime soon. It's important." He left before she could reply. His assistant turned to hand her the business card before rushing to catch up to him. Akiaya stared at the card before her father decided to speak. "Ooh is he the guy?" Akiaya snapped back to attention and stormed into the elevator, pushing the door close button and the floor number before he could get in.
Akiaya was waiting in the office for her father to join her. Being a brat towards him she had called the maintenance office to stop the elevator for scheduled maintenance. Letting him know that to ignore any calls for help from her father. With this being a monthly occurrence the employee understood without fail. She had sent a message to her mother in the meantime. [Mamacita, papa is being weird again. Can you please talk to him?] She received a response back immediately. [Funny you should say that Akia. He told me you left him in the lobby and got him stuck in the elevator.😅] Akiaya let out a laugh. She couldn't bring herself to respond back. Instead she received a different message from someone else. [Have you given some thought to the compromise?] It was Takeyasu. She inwardly rolled her eyes. Akiaya didn't respond. She received another message from him. [You know it shows you read it right?! Let me love you. 😔] With just that infuriating message her anger was ignited. Her words was a jumbled mess. Instead all she sent him was an angry face. Soon she powered her phone off to avoid him for awhile.
After twenty minutes her father finally entered his office. Akiaya greeted him with a smile. "Sir what took you so long I thought you had stepped in right after me." Geun Hye couldn't voice his disappointment in her because she pretended to be innocent in the matter. "Akia, please don't leave your poor father in a tiny space with heat billowing out like that again. Promise you'll be kind to me." She only looked at hi, her face was the epitome of naïve innocent. "Whatever do you mean sir? I didn't do anything." As if it dawned on her she snapped her fingers. "Oh are you referring to being stuck in the elevator while it was doing maintenance? Papa I am so terribly sorry. I will make sure it doesn't happen again." He could only sigh, Geun knew when she would stubbornly pull pranks on him because of the way he acted with her, there was nothing more to discuss. "My precious daughter you going to be ruthless when you take over the company. The board will have their hands full." He patted her head affectionately. Akiaya smile turned genuine at his praise. "Well father dear you should retire and allow me to take over the company now. I'll be a great CEO." He wagged hid finger in front of her face. "Not a chance dear one. You still need to learn the other roles. So patience. You still have three years left." Akiaya could only sigh and pout at his words. "Yeah, yeah sure. I'll wait patiently."
