Chapter 3: Retributions

LEON's POV

"First Skill: Phantom Raid Slaughter..." I whispered disappeared into the thick forest's shadows.

I pierced through the monsters' heads one by one as pools of black blood poured out from their brains.

Bloodbath.

"Whew... The monsters at this area are weaker compared to the ones near the town. I wonder why..." I said as I wiped the sweat off my forehead.

"Grrrrr..."

"Another one?" I restored my stance and took my knife again from my pouch.

"Grrrrrrrrrrrrr..!" the monstrous sounds were becoming more threatening.

From the shadows glowed two red orbs. Upon seeing these, beads of sweat formed from my forehead.

"Aw, come on..." I said as I sighed with my hands shaking.

The orbs started to approach me and with each step, the ground shook. As beams of light from the sun shone on the orbs, the beast bearing these orbs continually came to sight. It was the eyes of a behemoth - Collosus, Forest Guardian.

"Dammit..."

"GROAAAAAARRRRR!" the beast roared at me which nearly sent me reeling if I wasn't positioned well enough.

The Collosus... Didn't think I'd encounter a beast like this at this time. With a body made of sturdy stones covered with thick Eushcheria caliptia algae, arms that're large enough to crush a full grown man and humongous yet nimble legs, this beast can easily rip my body into shreds.

"I've no choice but to fight you... Running will just catch more monsters' attention and besides, this monster is quick-footed. He can easily chase me even if I ran... Damn. This isn't my day, is it?" I complained then gripped harder at my knife.

"Eight Skill: Shadowseek Guilt Barrage!" I shouted and quickly dashed towards my large bodied foe.

I appeared at its back and in less than a second, quick and powerful blows rained at it.

"Hrmmmm... Grrrrr..." I groaned.

"Did it hurt?" I asked it even though I'm pretty sure it won't answer.

"GRAAAAAAHHHH!" it shouted and in a split second, my right arm was cut off.

"AAAAGHHH! IT HURTS!" I shouted as I saw blood gushing out from my arm. I knelt down because of the pain.

"Ha... Ha... I guess this is the payment for my blood stained hands," I grinned and spoke in pain as I gazed at my opponent who raised its arms to strike me once more.

In no time, everything went black. I felt pain for a few seconds. But the hurts were no longer. Is this really how I'm going to die..? It's too soon for me to die... I haven't had my revenge yet... My promise.

"Is retribution what you seek, child?" I heard a woman's voice. Her voice echoed through my ears.

"Who are you..?" I asked the voice.

"I am one of those who escaped that wretched box..." replied the voice.

"Box..?"

"It matters not. Child of war, do you wish to live?" she asked.

"Yes... Yes, I want to live! I have a promise to keep!" I answered. I was desperate for revenge.

"A promise, you say? Child, if you wish to live, promise me something."

"What is it..?"

"Slay the gods."

VALMEUR's POV

"It's been a few hours since Leon went out to hunt. Where could he be..?" I worriedly asked Elias.

"He'll be fine, Sir. That kid won't let himself die until he had avenged his loved ones," answered Elias.

"Truly..." I said.

"Sir!" A man opened our tent panting and catching his breath.

"What is it, soldier?" I asked him.

"T-The Empire! They found us!" he answered sweating and stuttering.

"How-- Tell the others to escape! Quickly!" I ordered him and he speedily went out to tell the others.

I knelt down before a blue crystal which glowed brighter in the darkest moments.

"O, dear Creator, we pray to thee the safety of your people. Free us from the grasps of the Emperor. We seek the hope that you give unto us!"

A few moments later and another soldier went running into our tent.

"Sir Valmeur, their troops are marching onwards to our camp!"

"Ready thy men and prepare for battle! We'll buy the others time as they seeketh refuge!"

"Yes sir!"

It seems like we'll have to flee from our camp sooner than what we planned. I grabbed my sword and staff from my table and went out of the tent.

"For freedom!" I shouted and Elias' soldiers lined up in front of me. The Empire soldiers' marching feet may be heard and these footsteps gradually went louder and louder.

"They're near. Summon: Deuxe Ignis!" I shouted as a giant blue magic circle appeared from above.

Summoning magic, a type of magic that enables the caster to freely gain control over Deuxii - gods - and use their power in a short period of time. Though acquiring their powers and abilities, they are significantly weakened.

From the magic circle appeared the Deuxe Ignis, the wielder of flames and the creator of the sun. He had horns that of a dragon's and feet and face like a lion. His claws were sharp and on his right hand he held an orb of fire: the sun.

"Mana Loader: Deuxe Flare!" I shouted once more and Ignis threw the orb at the Empire soldiers. The men at the front lane were wiped out and burnt to crisp.

"Men, attack!" Elias shouted and his men immediately ran towards the enemies.

"Mana Loader: Flameborn Vulcan Cytocore!" I casted and Ignis went down to the ground and breathed the opponents with blazing fire.

"We musn't let the Empire wipe our people out! To freedom! For the people!"

LEON's POV

"Slay... the gods? How..?" I asked the voice.

"Acquire the Divine Blade and summon the gods. I will become your weapon to destroy them. I will be thy sword. Thy Oathkeeper. Now promise me this Leon and I shall grant you thy renewed breath," said the voice.

"I promise. I'll destroy them," I said in a cold manner. This time... I'll have my revenge.

"Very well... We have made a pact. Sword of Darkness, a blade to banish the light within, unto thee I grant."

I felt something warm wrap around my body. It felt good...

I opened my eyes and realized that I'm against the Collosus once more. I stood up and took my knife. My arm's back...

"Second Skill: Cursed Guillotine Execution!" I said and pierced the monster's neck with my knife. My body felt lighter yet stronger. A few moments after striking the Collosus with my knife, it fell on the ground and its body fragmented into rocks.

"Woah..." I was amazed with how quick I killed a behemoth.

"That is your new power, Leon," I heard the same voice again.

I looked back and saw shadows take form into a woman. She had long pitch black hair and wore a scarlet lingerie and heels. Her stockings were thin and dark.

"I am Alicia and I will be your sword and shield as you be my vessel..." she said.

After saying these words, she returned back into the shadows and changed form into a blood colored blade.

"So this is the Oathkeeper..." I said and held it from the ground.
