Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Demon Hunter
Quint had woken up and walked around the funeral home, trying to find the exit. Everyone was staring at him, amazed at the fact that he was alive and walking around naked. Quint finally noticed the people around him. "Oh shit! I'm naked!" yelled Quint. He quickly covered himself up and ran into a room. He surveyed the room. "This must be where they prep the bodies, " he thought. He explored the huge, quiet room and found a closet. The closet had suits in it. He put one on and headed home.
While he walked home, Ariel floated down to him. "I see that your body has healed up adequately, " she says.
"Uhhh... yeah. I don't feel any pain. But I keep having a bad feeling. Like something bad is going to happen" he said.
"That's just your ability to feel the demons around you, " replied Ariel.
"Feel the demons!" yelled Quint.
"I'm honestly surprised that he hasn't gone crazy. Most humans go crazy after being able to feel the energy of demons, " thought Ariel.
"Quint, I know that I just brought you back to life, but I need you to bring down a low-class demon that's in your city. That demon is the energy you've been sensing. His name is Hede. He parades around looking like a human. Find him and kill him, " she ordered.
"But, I don't know the first thing about killing a damn demon," he retorted.
"Use your power! The only reason I was able to bring you back to life is that you're extraordinary. You have hidden powers within you. I've brought them to the surface. Now go! Go find Hede. Use your power to sense him, " ordered Ariel. Quint ran off to find the demon.
Quint ran around the city, searching for the demon. He finally found the demon. "I'm getting a horrible feeling from this man," thought Quint. "Stop staring at me, boy, " said Hede.
"Are you a demon?" asked Quint.
"Run along, boy. Don't ask questions you don't want the answer to," replied Hede.
"I guess I have my answer," said Quint. He then charged at Hede. Quint landed a massive punch on the demon. Hede went flying into a wall. Hede's human form went away and his demon form surfaced. He was purple all over, with sharp claws. "Alright, who are you?" growled Hede.
"I'm the guy that's gonna kick your ass, demon!" answered Quint.
"Boy, those will be your last words!" yelled Hede. He then expanded his body, growing three times his size.
"Shit! He feels powerful. And why did he have to get huge all of the sudden? I'm in a fucked-up situation, " thought Quint.
Hede clawed at Quint. Quint couldn't dodge the attack. Quint was knocked down and had claw marks on his chest. " That fucking hurt, " thought Quint. He stood back up and took a fighting stance. "I gotta remember my training," he thought. Hede launched himself at Quint. Quint waited until Hede was just within reach and grabbed him by the arm and turned his momentum against him and slammed him onto the ground. Hede stood back up and tried to run away. "You are too strong for me right now, " screamed Hede as he ran away. Quint ran after him, feeling the power surge through his body. He ran after the demon. In an instant, he was in front of Hede. "I have you now! " said Quint. He reached his hand back, preparing for a mighty punch. His fist became engulfed in flames. "Fire Punch!" yelled Quint. His punches burned right through Hede's body. The demon was incinerated! A pile of ash lies where Hede's body was.
"Quint! You did it!" exclaimed Ariel.
"What was that power?!" asked Quint.
"As I said before, you already had this power. I just awoke it," said Ariel.
"It was awesome! And that fire! I've never felt anything like it!" said Quint excitedly.
"I'm glad that you liked it. You'll be my new demon hunter, " she responded.
"Demon hunting seems like it could be dangerous. But I love fighting. I'll be the best demon hunter ever," he said.
"Good, but this isn't about fun. You are saving lives. Hede has murdered hundreds of humans. There is no telling how many other people he would have killed. Take this seriously. I will find you when I track down another demon. Until then, keep your mouth shut about how you came back to life and about the demons. Humans are fragile creatures and can't handle the fact that there are worlds other than this one," explained Ariel.
"I understand," responded Quint.
Quint had finally made it home. "Mom, I'm home," said Quint. Mary ran downstairs crying. When she saw him, she froze. She couldn't believe her eyes. Her son that had died was standing in their home. She ran over and gave him a huge hug. Her eyes were filled with tears. "How is this even possible?!" she asked. Quint looked away and said, "I just woke up."
"How did you get these scratches?" she asked.
"Uhh, I fell on my way back home," he responded.
"I'm just so happy that you're here!" she said.
Shay came down the stairs to see what was going on. Mary had been crying late at night, every night since her son died. Shay was under the impression that this was another one of those nights. When she saw Quint, her eyes were filled with tears. "You're alive! I can't believe it!" said Shay. She ran to Mary and Quint and joined in on the hug. After all of the crying and hugging, Quint went into the dojo. Mary owned a fighting dojo. She is a former world champion martial artist. Now she runs a dojo. Her star pupils are Shay, Quint, and Lucas. All three had excelled in her lessons.
"It's time for me to train. I gotta become stronger to protect my family and friends and everyone else. I'm sensing all kinds of demon energy. I won't let them continue to hurt people. I am now a Demon Hunter."
