Chapter 2: Black Robin
Amon's journey lasted 4 days. He killed various animals on the way until he smelled something delicious. Humans. There is a commodity in the center of the town. A public execution. Amon became curious, he wanted to blend in to the townsfolk but his appearance is different from them and so he hid in the shadows. Amon carefully crept in the woods until he can finally see the public execution from the distance.
In the tall platform stood 3 men. One of them wears a black hood covering his face. The other an old man and the last is a bruised sad man with hair black as night.
"For crimes of stealing and murder I Jonathan Selfer, the mayor of Trifall, sentence you to die . Do you have any last words?" the old man screamed
"The Black Robin will avenge me" the man cried.
The old man then ordered the executioner to do his job. The man was forced to bent and with a quick strike, his head rolled in the wooden platform. The people cheered, some celebrated and this reaction made Amon even more curious. Do humans really enjoy such violence?
Amon spent the rest of the day observing the townsfolk. They are busy folk, they trade and hunt and kill and eat. He saw humans as a poison, slowly killing each and everything they touch. He find it fascinating. So he waited until dark and proceeded with his plan. He needed to learn. To adapt. To find a place where he would belong. To be the wolf among the sheep and the humans are the best choice among them.
Slowly he walked to the town gates.
"Who goes there?" a guard screamed
"Amon, I travelled from a faraway land..." he replied
"What's your business here?"
"I have come to trade"
"Show me your wares"
Amon then revealed to the man his shining golden chalice from the castle. The guard's eyes shimmer in its beauty as he slowly opened the gate.
"Such beauty, from where have you got this treasure?" the guard asked.
"It is... A family heirloom" Amon replied.
"And what would one need to get such a beautiful chalice?"
Just then Amon realized that men are naturally greedy. And this greed is a weakness Amon wanted to exploit.
"I would need something more... Would you kindly bring me to you Mayor? I promise to give you something that will be just as precious as this chalice"
The guard then assisted Amon and soon they found themselves at the entrance to the Mayor's Home. The guard knocked three times and the Mayor soon opened the door.
"What business do you have in such late hour?" the Mayor asked
"Forgive me sir, but this man wants to meet you" the guard replied
"Well he can meet me in the morning"
Amon smirked
"I'm afraid not... See im not really human my race are afraid of sunlight"
The Mayor backed off a bit and replied "So are you a vampire?"
"I have no fangs sir, and sunlight will definitely not kill me, I just hate the light"
"And what does your race eat?"
"I eat almost everything from vegetables to meat just the same as you..."
"Oh good lord, and here I thought that YOU have brought a vampire in this town!" the Mayor screamed furiously to the guard.
"Now..." the Mayor said "Let's get straight into business. Show me your treasure"
Amon then gave the Mayor the golden chalice. "I would offer you this chalice if you would provide me a home and let me live in this serene town"
The gold shimmered in the Mayor's eyes. Greed has consumed him. "Of course, I will give you a home, enough food and sustaining labor if that is what you wish"
Amon smiled and bowed his head to show respect. Just as he is about to be assisted by the guard, a large explosion happened near the town gates. The Mayor orderes the guards. The alarms were sound and people screamed; "The Black Robin is here!"
The guards rallied to the town square to protect the people. Amon however, was too fascinated and decided to watch. The guards gripped their weapons tighter as the fire grew closer to the town square. In the distance, screams of anguish can be heard. It draws closer. Soon there stood in their front an army of black hooded figures carrying torches blazing each house they see. "This is for Lancel!" some of them screamed.
The guards drew their weapons and began to attack. But they were all shot by an arrow one by one even before they reach their enemies. The remaining guards raised their shields to block the arrows but the other assailants crushed them with their mighty axes. The guards fell one after another and soon none of them remains but Amon who is still watching the fight sitting in the bench at the front of the Mayor's home. Amon clapped to congratulate the assailants. "Bravo!" he screamed with his deep creepy voice as he continued clapping.
"Who are you fool?" asked the hooded man
"Amon. As you can see.... I am not human" he replied the maliciously smiled at his foe.
"Hahahaha it doesn't matter what race you are. You are already dead" the man replied. He then charged to Amon. But Amon is too quick. Just as the man is about to strike, Amon grabbed his arm and pulled it so fast and strong it flew to the sky. The man cried in pain. "My arm!" but Amon swiftly stepped on his head crushing it.
"Please don't mind me, I'm just killing time" Amon said while smiling.
The rest of the hooded men attacked Amon but he dispatched them all quickly with only his hands and sharp nails as weapon. Arrows also flew to hit him but he is too quick and dodge them all with ease. Soon after, the center of the town was filled with slashed organs, mangled corpses and bent arrows. Amon had killed them and he did it silently that some of the people haven't even noticed it. He then went to the Mayor's home. He silently went to the roof and observed something peculiar from the windows. He found the Leader of the Black Robin among with the rest of his men and inside, there is the town mayor.
"Please don't hurt me" pleaded the Mayor.
"You executed my brother! You will pay!"
"Why should I? He was a thief! A murderer!"
"No he's not, it was you who stole from us! You rich stole our livelihood with your extravagant buffets, you the rich and powerful were the one who murdered our innocence when you decided to send our parents to a war we cannot win!"
He was so furious that he hit the Mayor's head on the wall repeatedly until it was crushed.
Just as his fury has settled, a wicked laugh is heard from the window. "Well done.." Amon whispered
"Who are you?!" he asked
"Amon. A pleasure to meet you"
"Spare the pleasantries, men kill him!"
Five men assaulted Amon. He jumped down to the floor landing in one of them. Amon punched the man and his hands pierced through his body. As Amon pulled his hand another man attacked him, but he used his nails and slashed his throat so fast that he did the same to the man behind him. Blood filled the house and the remaining men lost morale. They ran to the door but Amon chased them. He grabbed one of them by the back and Amon crushed his head with only his fist. The other man was able to leave the house, but Amon grabbed his feet and Amon continued to mangle his corpse slashing every corner of his body. All of it happened so fast that the leader of Black Robin lost all his hope.
"You... you're not human. What are you?" he asked with tears running in his eyes.
"Me? Im just something that kills" Amon smiled as he began to bite the Black Robin's neck.
Just as the fire has died out, everyone left in the town is either dead or dying. Some have fled to the woods and will most likely be wolf food. Amon decided to watch the sun rise as embers die out. For a while, Amon enjoyed the killing but now he seeks something more. He seeks a place to call home. A place where he would belong and so he left and journeyed east.
