Chapter 11: Chapter Eleven: Project Experience

"Why did you call Ironwood up if you weren't going to kill him?" Question Max.

Carrow and DeeJay were back at their FOB, respawning in the beds they placed there after his rather explosive unsubscription to life. DeeJay was off meditating on his semblance and snorting some drugs to ease the aftermath of death, while Max and Carrow sat down and drank some Rust tea. The stuff was actually really damn good, especially the pure stuff.

"Jacques wouldn't come up without some reassurance that we wouldn't kill him; everyone knows Ironwood is a soldier before a general, thus granting him a sense of safety while we had a gun to his head." Carrow stated before sipping some Pure Scrap Tea. The stuff was modified to cut down crafting times instead of giving more scrap so that was cool.

"Hmm," Max hummed in acceptance, before leading off with another question, "What are we gonna do about her?" Max nodded his head where Penny was restrained, currently looking around their lounge with innocent naivety.

"Group daughter?" Carrow said after some thought. Max gave a chuckle at what he said before frowning.

"I guess... alright I'm just gonna say it; we're changing." Max said seriously.

"Yeah, no shit. What gave it away? Selling guns to terrorists? Synthesizing hard drugs? Oh! Was it gunning down a bunch of civvies and kidnapping some dudes robot daughter?" Carrow said snidely.

Max opened his mouth, before closing it and nodding. "What do you thinks causing it?" Max asked then.

"Death." Carrow said immediately after. "When we first got here and died a bunch, the effects of each death compounded upon each other. DeeJay was the worst, practically no sense of right or wrong, not broken per say, but defiantly a twisted mindset."

Max nodded in accent before Carrow continued. "Then there's me. I personally think I was already naturally rather... twisted, just suppressed by society and good upbringing, so are you, but I got killed more so I'm more ruthless and cruel. Killing doesn't bother me, as long as it has a cause. Greed, Wrath, Lust, but not 'just because.'" Once again Max nodded.

"You however, are stuck in-between. Suppressing it while also simultaneously embracing it. Its easy to just not care, but you still have a good deal of humanity inside of ya." Carrow finished off with a lax sigh, "Not that it really matters, we can't really help it, just human nature ironically, the nasty parts of it though."

"I've thought about our next steps," Max said, changing the subject, "Robot army is kind of dumb don't you think?"

Carrow snorted, "Yeah, I just wanted a nice robot waifu, the robot army thing was just to get DeeJay hyped." There was sarcasm for the first part, but then got serious about hyping up Deejay.

"But yeah, I've been thinking about our next steps; remember when you went all philosophical on us, what was it... ah 'Build, Learn, Fight, Live, Die'. Yeah we're gonna do a lot of that." Carrow said with a grin.

Max rose his eyebrow, "We already kind of did all of that though. We built this place, learned how to build planes, you guys fought Winter, whom if what you said correctly was like, the top percent of Hunters. You don't need me to remind you of the 'Die' part do you?" Max started listing off bobbing his head each time he listed one off, before coming off in a sarcastic drawl.

"Yeah, yeah, I mean we did a lot of that, but if Winter fought us fair in square, we would lose. Our gear is just super good. Its like a semi-decent Minecraft player in full enchanted netherite with a totem of undying in the other hand, fighting someone like Technoblade who has low tier unenchanted diamond stuff." Carrow said.

"We went in there armed to the teeth; Winter had a sword. Aura or no, we are humans, when humans see a problem they don't beat on it with their fists like a bunch of monkeys, we build bombs to blow that shit to kingdom come." Carrow exaggerated his motions with his hands, fingers and arms splaying in depiction of an explosion. "Plus it was 2v1. That's just unfair, and DeeJay went through some kind of anime mid-fight power-up." Carrow added.

"Back to the question." Max said after rolling his eyes.

"PVP, 1v1v1." Carrow stated.

Max's eyes went wide. "Wouldn't that divide us? You always go on about unity this and unity that."

"It's a war game, and its not like we would be dying for real, we're immortal remember. It's like a strategy game, but in real world rust. Our new androids are our pawns, we build and claim territory while fighting for more. Eventually we will get bored and call a truce, main base is neutral territory and we get battle experience." Carrow explained gesturing toward Max with his coconut.

Max nodded and thought about what was proposed. In war new technologies were developed constantly due to the conflict, opposing parties always trying to one up each other.

"When're you telling DeeJay?" Max asked.

"Soon after we finish producing this android." Carrow said, eyeing something in the corner of his vision; a crafting timer no doubt.

Ten minutes later an android who could pass for Carrow's brother appeared next to them. Carrow put his hand on the android's shoulder, and started to chant. "For it is in passing we achieve Immortality, by my hand I raise you, by my soul I curse you, and by my will you follow." A deep purple aura exploded out of the artificial lifeform, its eyes calibrating before saluting, arm crossing on its chest towards Carrow.

"I greet thee, milord!" The bot said with the same enthusiasm of its sister. Carrow smiled at his creation, before passing some materials to Max dropping some burlap bags on the ground. "Here make one of yours, I wanna see if there's any personality difference between aura unlock." However before Max could pick up one of the bags one of them disappeared.

"Milord, my optic sensors seem to be malfunctioning." The android stated, swiping at what was undoubtedly an inventory screen.

Carrow and Max's faces suddenly grew into utterly terrifying grins.

"Player Four joins the game~." Carrow sung.
