Chapter 1: O N E
Everyone knows what they should expect when they wake up from deep slumber, right? Right...
Like, for example, the ceiling of their room, the wall, the window or their door... Those are the usual things that people see when they wake up from their dreams or nightmares except that there's one who will not be expecting anything at all after her "slumber".
.: 3rd POV:
The sound of wings flapping woke a young woman from her sleep as her eyes tried on adjusting from the sudden light.
- Where... Am I? -
Was her first thought as she tiredly looked around to see if she could understand where she is, her limbs limp and hanging from below her.
- I'm... Flying...? -
Her eyebrows furrowed as she looked down, her brain still trying to grasp the situation she was in.
- This must be a dream... Yeah, just a dream... I'll just close my eyes again and then wake up to Alpha shaking me... -
When she was about to close her eyes again, her eyes snapped open as a yelp escaped her lips when she felt a sudden movement that made her stomach churn.
"What the heck...?"
Now fully awake, the raven-haired woman looked around with wide and panicked eyes as she, now, fully grasped the situation she was in.
She was in the air...
The ground below her was very, very, very far...
A giant bird was the one carrying her, a scary one at that...
- What the actual fuck...?! -
Finally feeling her limbs, her hands immediately grabbed the tarsus of the bird making it squawk and let go of her in surprise while the maroon eyed girl sucked in a breath as she felt her body being pulled down by gravity.
- Oh, God... I'm going to fall to my death... -
Her eyes watered due to the wind hitting her face while her limbs, once again, went limp as her body continued on falling.
"Instead of panicking... I need to try on slowing down my fall or else I WILL die..."
She mumbled to herself as she looked around only to see a forest right below her so she shifted her limbs to make her change course.
"Okay, that's good... But I'm going faster now, I hope the branches slow me down but my body and arms will be aching let's not forget the bruises-"
The raven-haired girl's eyes widened as she noticed how close she was to kissing the ground so, to avoid doing such but also without further thinking about her plan, when she entered the forest, she reached for a tree branch to slow down her descent towards the earth and when she did, she bit her bottom lip and shut her eyes as she let out a pained groan when she felt the bark scrape and dig onto the palms of her hands.
- Very smooth me... Very smooth... But at least I didn't kiss the ground! So that's a plus... Though how come the branch didn't snap...? -
Shrugging the thought out of her mind, the girl looked around to see if she could find a path or something that could lead her to some sort of civilization but before she could, a thought struck her thus eliciting a worried hum from her lips as her eyes kept on analyzing the area.
- Why can't I remember what happened... I mean... All I remember is that I was thinking of someone named Alpha... Until that damn bird moved so suddenly -
Her attention then moved towards the branch she was holding onto, eyes widening when she heard it let out some snapping noises.
"I shouldn't have doubted about the branch not snapping-"
She grunted as she felt her backache from the pain when she fell on a thick branch, a pained cough leaving her lips but soon her eyes widened when she felt the branch that she was on make the same and dreaded snapping noises.
"What did I do to deserve this..."
As the branch finally gave in, strings of colourful words left the girl as she fell again, pained groans leaving her when she felt branches smack against her form as her arms protected her head from the impact until her body hit the ground with a dull THUD.
"This is not my day... Yep... Not my day..."
As the girl managed to pull herself up into a sitting position, she looked at the damage done to her body
"Hmm... Just a few scratches here and there... These will heal in two days or more depends if I disinfect and apply some bandages... Though my clothes are ripped and dirty..."
Nodding, the maroon eyed girl looked around the area as fear gripped onto her heart when she found out that she was, maybe, in the very middle of the forest.
Managing to stumble on her own two feet, she began on limping a bit while her eyes kept on moving from her left then to her right, flinching every time she hears a bush rustle or the leaves of the trees move.
- God... I really hope that I find a town or something because being in a forest is not my cup of coffee... -
The girl stopped in her tracks when she heard a twig snap from behind, the hair on the nape of her neck stood when she heard breathing.
- Oh god... What do I do?! Everyone dies when they turn around...! Well, not all but still! Okay... Jay... You got this... -
After the small prep-talk, the maroon eyed girl slowly turned her head to look at the thing that made the noise.
When she finally turned around, she blinked in surprise when she saw what was the reason for her mental breakdown.
"A... Monkey...?"
Said culprit tilted his head, she thought that it was the judging from the clothes it was wearing but most of all with his... Hair...
The monkey then jumped and made his way towards her, head tilting up to look at her with his yellow eyes, making the girl coo at his cuteness.
"Awe, you're so cute..."
Jay let the brown-furred monkey climb up her arm until he reached her shoulder, his hand poking at her bruised cheek then eyeing her ruined clothes, a confused noise leaving the small prime-ape.
"Ahh, it's a long story... But I guess I'll sum it up into a few words... I don't know how but I woke up onto me being carried by a giant bird, scared it and then I was falling from the sky until I managed to grab hold of a branch but soon fell when it snapped then... Yeah..."
She painfully smiled when she felt her side ache, making her new friend let out noises of worry if that was actually worried noises but she decided that her new friend was worried.
"I-I'm fine, don't worry-"
But she was interrupted when she heard someone land right behind her, her smaller form stiffening when she heard the person let out a yawn.
"What's wrong Dexter? Why the sudden-oh? And who might this be?"
"Dexter" grunted and started making noises as he patted, more like smacking, the girl's hair while jumping on her shoulder.
- Crud crud crud crud...! Now, what do I do...?! -
Jay stood still, refusing to turn around to look at the mysterious man, judging from the baritone voice that this person has.
"So what you're saying is that this girl fell from the sky? Are you sure that you didn't eat too many bananas, little buddy? We both know how you get when you eat a lot of bananas"
Chuckling, the man then turned his attention to the silent girl while Dexter poked at her cheek.
"Hey, you ok? Dexter told me that you had a harsh landing over there..."
- Crud... No use on ignoring him if he's directly asking you..."
Mentally sighing and patting herself on the back to encourage herself, Jay turned around to look at the man before her only to meet his covered chest, eyes blinking once then twice.
"Uhm... Yeah... I kinda did..."
- Curse me for being awkwardly shy and for being short...! Wait for... -
"You understood what Dexter said?"
Snapping her head up to finally see what the stranger look like, the raven-haired girl almost let out a squeak when she noticed that the man's nose was directly touching hers so she stumbled back but was stopped when a hand wrapped around her arm.
"Hey, easy now...! And yeah, Dexter told me... Jeez, you look like as if one of those jungle monsters attacked you, given from your state..."
Blinking, her cheeks turned red in embarrassment when she saw his amber eyes take in her form.
"Your clothes are ruined too... Yeesh, I'm surprised that you're still conscious after a fall like that...! You have my respect, girly!"
Jay watched in confusion as the male grinned at her while patting her on the shoulder that wasn't occupied by the friendly monkey, her body relaxing a bit when she deemed the stranger "safe".
"Anyway! Can I know your name? I'll tell mine when you tell me yours!"
The girl hesitated for a bit since she still didn't trust this man but after seeing the genuine twinkle into his eyes, her shoulders finally slumped only to apologize when Dexter let out a squeak since he was sitting on one of her shoulders and almost fell from the action.
"I... my name's Jay..."
"Well, Jay... Nice to meet you!"
The brunette's grin widened more if it was possible as he stood on his full height, hands on his waist while Dexter looked at the male with a not so amused look.
"My name's Claude"
