Chapter 60: Ch 60: That’s so messed up

Owen wouldn't let a woman like that near him. There was no way. She was his father's wife, his stepmother. She leaned against the closed door and laid her face in her hand. She remembered him saying he was drunk.

How drunk? Men do such stupid things when they were drunk. "Abigail." Came a voice on the other side of the door followed by a soft knock. Owen. She released a breath and pulled the door open. He saw her face, "What did she say?"

She shook her head. "Your stepmother needs help." "Yes, she does." He stepped into the room and shut the door while looking at her, "She told you didn't she?" "Is it true?" "I was sixteen Abigail." "she said—I mean, that I couldn't measure up, that she was your first." He shook his head, "That's not true, but it doesn't surprise me that she lied.

However, something did happen." It wasn't any of her business what had happened in the past, but this was just so wrong. "Owen—" "Hear me out first before you make a judgment." He winced at the look on her face, "I was sixteen. I came home from a football party.

We had just won the championships. I wasn't just drunk, I was passed out on the couch." He splayed his hands in front of him in helplessness, "When I woke up…" he paused, not wanting to finish, "She was, well…I pushed her off me and went to my room."

"She took complete advantage of you," Abigail said. The look on his face was one of great relief and he nodded. "I was so disgusted with myself. I hated her, hated myself. I never slept with her Abigail. I swear to Lord."

"Owen, that's assault." She said with wide eyes finally understanding what he was talking about. He shrugged, "I wouldn't press charges against my sister's mother no matter how angry I was. Alice would be devastated.

Besides, she didn't get far despite what she thinks because it certainly wasn't memorable." Abigail could see his expression turn guilty over the mentioning of Alice, "It wasn't your fault." "Maybe, maybe not. I don't know if I enticed her or not. I don't remember much.

Ever since then she seems to want to finish where she left off." "That's so messed up." She said in disbelief. "I find it hard to understand that there are people like that out there."

He arched his brows, "Now you know why I spent most of my young years with you and Joseph. And why I'm so insistent that you stay with me. You are naive." She only nodded her head at how crazy this all was,

"What does your father think about that? Does he know?" "He knows exactly what she's like, but again, she's Alice's mother. Out of that commitment, he stays with her." He took a step toward her, "I hope this doesn't affect our relationship." He said sincerely.

"I meant it when I said it wasn't memorable. It hasn't had any long term affects on me. I never had a problem with intimacy—" "—Okay."
