Chapter 3: Realization
'It is real after all...'
That is what he realised after when a house elf appeared and took Viktor to his own room. Of course he first believed he is having some kind of mind related illness or something, still something he is afraid of really. What if all of this is fake? But he decided to just go on and live it since he was given another chance at life.
'So Viktor Krum huh... the year should be around 1976, somewhere around in April, he should be in his final year when he joined the triwizard tournament and Harry is in his fourth year so it means that I am three years older than him and that there's fourteen years till the main storyline begins. That's plenty enough time for me to... you know... be a real 'Viktor'. Ahh... I just remembered that Apple was established in this year, let's not forget to invest in the future!'
Viktor was laughing in excitement. He didn't like dying in his last life when he did, and now he was very thankful for the opportunity that was given to him.
As a baby his mother would often take care of him. Playing with him. Talking to him. Kissing his nose and cheeks. And all those silly things that a fifty-two year old man could not have tolerated being done to his person. It was the first time he ever felt tortured, no, the second, the first time is when he had to piss and poop on his diaper while being conscious. Helplessness filled the heart of the future lord.
Every night, he is left in a room of his own where the child sized house elves took turns to monitor him. This is his favorite time of the day, not that he hated his mother or anything but being toyed with by a person less than half his age didn't fit his taste even a little bit.
His father is rarely home due to some sort of scuffle between wizards and the neighbouring powers but would always carry him around whenever he is able, sometimes even showing him magic. It made the transmigrator wonder who died in the wizarding war for Viktor (the movie version) to have a negative view of Grindelwald and in turn to the deathly hollows symbol that the dark lord openly used as the symbol of his coven.
'There's no helping that though. I'm just a side character with little to no part in the original plot, there's so much to do in this world.'
Being left to his own devices during the night is truthfully for the best. He has a lot of catching up and reading to do after all. As it would have been very weird to see a week old baby reading a book about the history of magic he did not entertain the idea of showing it to his mother. He would either be labeled as a genius or an abomination it that truly happened. Worst is that there are magic in this world that allows one to read the memories of another. Potions that will make the drinker tell the truth, and Viktor, we can just say that he had a lot of secrets to hide.
A few days ago he discovered that he could communicate telepathically with some of the house elves and with his persuasion they managed to get a masterless house elf to meet him and sign a binding ceremony which means that he agreed to pledge himself to Viktor.
The elf is named Golie.
'Golie'
"You called for me young master?"
'Yes, bring me some books. Basic level ones suited for young wizards to learn.'
Before Golie could apparate, he was pulled by an invisible force toward the crib.
"Wait, change my diaper first..."
The house elf smiled slyly and bowed not asking how his master is capable of such feat at his age.
"It shall be done to your liking sir."
The house elf changed his diaper then aparated in and out of his room without restraint. This inspired awe and fear inside Viktor.
'This little magical creature poses more of a threat than the dark lords themselves and the wizards are simply too ignorant enough to not see this danger for what it is.'
Unlike in the movies where the representative of the house elves was seen as a dumb creature who even had difficulty forming his sentences properly, his own house elf named Golie is very smart and is capable of fluent speech.
'Dobie must have been a special case for he is a dumb elf, or maybe he caught a dumbifying virus from our scar faced protagonists or the bloody silver haired Malfoy. I don't know. Hahaha fuc* them both.'
"These here sir is a set of the most basic books taught in Durmstrang that is available in the family vault."
Golie appeared with a stack of books in hand which was then placed inside Viktor's crib rousing him from his internal ramblings. There were books of all kinds from history to dark magic itself. Durmstrang didn't really care about 'dark magic' bullshit that's been going around in the past few centuries. To most of them, magic is simply a tool used to accomplish one's goals, a blade to kill or a servant to serve.
(What is good? What is evil? It was never their concern.)
"Thank you Golie, leave it there and give me some quiet space for me to read, be a darling and make the light a little brighter please."
Golie snapped his finger and disappeared in an instant free of his chores for the day.
'Alright. Like every other alien in a foreign world let's start with History first. Its good that my telekinesis is strong enough to lift a book. Lets just wish its not too taxing for my newborn brain.'
Viktor unlocked his telekinesis a few days after his birth, unlike others with very weak telekinesis at first, his is quite already strong for his age. It may be due to the fact that his soul is of an infant and an old man added together. Telekinesis, like all accidental magic is something that is actually a default ability to all of wizardkind no wand movements and no incantations are required to activate it. Its a very versatile form of power that Viktor is willing to put his time in researching and improving. It's just that most people or wizards of HPverse did not bother to train in it to become proficient enough and reach a very high level to that of a certain bald professor who always sat on a wheelchair.
Although quite strong, lifting the thick history book to eye level proved to be quite a task for our infantile transmigrator and it literally gave him a headache after channeling his mental energy for a long time, so instead of lifting the book he decided to lift his own body and flip the pages using his psycho kinesis.
It took him five hours to read half of the seven inch thick book. This includes the time he spent with recovering his magic to allow telekinesis. In his study he discovered that he retained his photographic memory from his past life which should also come in handy in this world. It took one clear glance for him to memorise a whole page without missing a single letter. He didn't have to read.
Over the course of the following days he trained his telekinesis and read other basic books such as basic potion, basic arithmancy, basic transfiguration, basic charms, basic jinx and hexes and others with similar results. What he has is an extreme case of photographic memory much better than what he had in his previous life. His brain is acting more and more like a computer that is just scanning a book and storing all the information in his brain for processing, cross analysing, simulating and validating everything for him. Almost like a super computer or an artificial intelligence.
'Well I was hailed as a genius before. Maybe this is how it feels to be a genius when buffed by magic, or not coz wizards in the movies are plain dumb. Fuck it. All is well and life is good as long as it doesn't affect me negatively then it's fine. Now to support my future researches I believe money is key.'
He looked at Golie with an evil smile and he began instructing his personal house elf. The good old elf who is now bound to him can speak with him through telepathy and was able to receive his instructions. For whatever good or evil it may bring to the world? He didn't care.
