Officer: what's your name and age?
Witness: Reyansh Robinson, I'm 34 years old.
Officer: Okay sir can you please tell us what happened?
Witness: I- I'm not really sure. She had been acting odd all week.
Officer: Sir can you please explain? What do mean she was acting odd?
Witness: Well about a week ago she found an old doll, she wouldn't go anywhere without it. But every night she'd been having nightmares. She said it was of an old hag chasing a young man threw our house. But after the first night she refused to tell me anything else.
Soon after that she refuses to leave the house. When I tried to get her through the doorway she would scream like she was in pain. She would say that Kali wouldn't let her. (Kali is the Hindu devil) At this point I became concerned .
Officer: why? Not to be rude but couldn't this just be a young girl confused about her religion?
Witness: that's the thing I'd never taught her about Hinduism. How did she know who Kali was?
Officer: Okay what happened next?
Witness: Well she eventually began telling me what to do. That was unexceptable. She began to tell me to put up amulets and other things to ward off Kali. Then yesterday was the worst.
Officer: What happened?
Witness: Well she began to run a fever in the morning. Then by noon she was shivering but sweating like crazy. By night she was writhing and screaming, she kept saying "काली को खून चाहिए, मुझे खून दो।"
Officer: What does that mean?
Witness: "Kali wants blood, give me blood." And then today she refused to leave her room. I came in and she was sobbing. She kept asking me to save her.
Officer: So what did you do?
Witness: I dragged her outside to the back.
Officer: Where the pool is located?
Witness: yes.
Officer: Is that when the killer appeared? Can you ID them?
Witness: No.
Officer: Then what happened?
Witness: I dragged her to the pool. She was screaming and crying saying that Kali didn't want her to, that she wouldn't let me, that I couldn't do it. I threw her in.
Officer: What?!
Witness: She tried to come up. She screamed. So I held her under.
Officer: Wait so you drowned Nija?
Witness: Yes. I drowned the devil. Kali is no more.
Reyansh Robinson was arrested after this statement was taken.
Arresting officer: Yeraldine Thompson.
