Chapter 40: Divide and Conquer Part 5
Two people were running out of the forest. They kept running even if they're breathless. After reaching another clearing, they saw an occupied base with China's flag.
They both went on the flag stand and took the flag. Another point were added to their score. "I feel he's chasing us! What are we going to do with him?"
"Relax. Let's rest here and wait for him. I have a plan. It depends on our luck."
While on the other side, far from the two, another battle was currently on going.
"Didn't think I'll meet you here Rasmus."
"Me too, Ryan. Don't you think it's overkill for you to move? Why don't you let Wayde and your other 6 companion fight us two?"
"Eh?! Are you buying time to wait for Gilbert? Even if you have him, he'll be no match with Ryan and me combined."
"Of course he isn't! He's too green to fight you two. He's still a kid." The other companion of Rasmus said.
"Let's stop this and fight."
"I guess we'll have to forfeit this round." Rasmus didn't back down and started his attack with a charge. Ryan intercepted his charge by sending his own skill which would interrupt the charge.
They were both Werewolf race so they both have the same trait which was unusable without moon. Rasmus cancelled his charge and used a skill called Dark Slash.
Rasmus was a Dark Knight, an equivalent of Holy Knight on Order Faction. Ryan easily dodge the attack and performed a three hit combo.
They have different builds on their stats from the start but, Ryan have an advantage because he was Unique class called Fallen Duelist.
Ryan used a rapier imbued with fire and darkness. It was an item he got from Tower of Demise. Unfortunately, Rasmus didn't have a special weapon like the others. He only got a cloth with an unknown use.
Ryan attack has a piercing effect because of his Unique skill. It made Rasmus a clothed class. The fight didn't last long before Rasmus was down to a sliver of health.
"Heh, we'll meet again soon."
Ryan delivered the final attack. Rasmus turned into white lights. The archer with Rasmus was long dead. He was bombarded with skills and attack.
"Let's move. We only have one goal. It's to win!"
"Sweden only have one member and unfortunately, he isn't a flag bearer so Sweden's final score is 9 points. At least they put a fight even though it is futile."
"Thailand attacked Australia at the back while Australia was facing the 5 members of Canada. The battle is still raging on and no deaths. Will Australia survive the battle?"
"I think they were truly strong but those who were left are also strong. Thailand didn't use the time to score when others were fighting. They were quite lucky until now. They actually initiated an attack. They might be excited to finally meet an opponent."
"Yes, unfortunately for them, they will have to face two dragons."
"Philippines stopped on a base far from the others and finally occupied a base for the first time. They might realized that Gilbert wasn't a flag bearer."
At another site, South Korea and US were currently facing off each other. South Korea poking the US team looking for an opening while South Korea were waiting for their ace.
"We have to buy as much time as possible! Save your energy but don't let them see an opening!" the man commanded his teammates. He was the leader of the US team.
He didn't let any opening for the enemies to take an advantage while they're missing a teammate.
Peter Lewis, a well known professional gamer who was known as One Eyed Man because of his love on wearing an eyepatch. Despite his handsome and cold looking face together with his clear looking green eyes and blonde hair, he didn't have many female fans but the opposite of it.
He garnered the interests of men and idolized him as their role model. Defying any logic with his timely commands like a master tactician commanding an army. He was also known as one of the Empire's Master Tactician on a VRMMORPG called Lord of Dynasties.
Peter Lewis left behind his fame and reputation on the Lord of Dynasties and transferred to the new game Advent of Heroes to challenge his true skills.
He was still one of the 1% of players but he met a lot of great and amazing players. Fortunately, his worth didn't decrease rather, it greatly increased his worth. He was now a vice guild leader of one of the top ten guilds.
Unlike others, Peter Lewis leaned on tactical advantage and great calls especially the trusts of his subordinates. Right now, it was being tested and each one of his teammates knew how his part was the most important.
He kept their disadvantage into an advantage through right call on the terrain. The place they were currently at was elevated compared to others and could easily notice incoming enemies.
With proper shot calling, the enemies couldn't find a way to break their formation.
Kim Taehyun, leader of South Korea, also were having trouble on commanding his team due to his inexperience in leading. He was a fighter not a thinker but he could only grit his teeth and kept trying.
The enemy they were facing was what he was lacking and the enemy could see through it. Sometimes fame and reputation pulled you down instead of pushing you up. Taehyun could see that the US team could kept the standstill with them.
He also tried pushing through by his and his teams' strength but Peter countered it.
"Someone is approaching at our behind."
The US team already saw the incoming player and it was their teammate. They could finally end the long and drawn out battle.
"I think we should've retreated a long time ago." Yoo Eunji expressed her opinion on her leader's had decisions.
"Yes. I also think so too now that I see that they were waiting for someone."
"Let's just kill the lone player first. I'll deal with him." Min Donghyun said before disappearing. He would intercept and kill Leonel as fast as possible to lower their enemies' morale.
"Ahn Sungmin provide support, I'll try to open a path. Park Jihoo, follow me. We'll let them see how strong our sword and shield." Kim Taehyun looked at the one opponent he'll never reach in terms of wits.
Leonel sensed an incoming danger and rolled forward. An enemy appeared where he stood before. "Heh, not bad." Min Donghyun praised Leonel's senses but he was sure that it was only a fluke. After all, no one escaped his frontal or surprise attacks.
Leonel saw his opponent and only smirked. He was actually bored after fighting some weak teams but he might face a strong one now. After all, only strong teams remained.
"Currently, South Korea and US started to fight for real. Canada and Thailand's, surprisingly, attack also overwhelmed Australia. Thailand showed great teamwork! We might see the downfall of Australia here."
Xavier looked grim. He never thought they'll be surrounded from front and behind. They were no other way. They have to choose if they'll open a path forward or retreat from behind.
Winter saw their Prince's expression. She walked towards Xavier "Escape with Q, we'll open a path for you. We might as well gamble on the possibility of your survival by sacrificing ourselves."
Xavier wanted to refute but Mild Word, their bishop, and Crazy Heat, war priest, also approved of it.
"They still don't know our flag bearer. Instead of all of you sacrificing yourselves. I'll be the bait." Xavier didn't accept their proposal. He might as well be the bait. Everyone knew that they thought he was the flag bearer as the strongest and leader.
Everyone wanted to refute Xavier's proposal but couldn't because they saw that his decision was firm and as the leader no one could oppose it.
"Protect Q and get a lot of points. I'll wait for good news. We have to win this round."
They nodded and cooperated with Liam. They first acted like they were fighting as if their life was on the line but instead they passed the decision through covering for each other.
"Now!" Xavier opened a path through summoning Javir his baby dragon. Everyone looked at Xavier with a determined but apologetic look. If only they could share his burden then they'll be happy enough to obliged.
Everyone accepted and supported Xavier's leadership. He was a serious but kind type of leader. They would surely gain lots of points for their leader.
'Wait for us' the only thought they have before disappearing completely.
