Chapter 5: Chapter 5

The first floor of the dungeon was really atmospheric. Pietro was supposed to imitate a labyrinth. Before Viego was a straight road leading to the first fork in the road. The walls of the labyrinth were made of sandstone, with a light golden color. Well, the wall was made of many sand bricks, between which intensely green moss often grew, and in some places you could see drooping vines that looked like really long and slightly thicker green spaghetti.

The floor was also made of sandstone, but this raw material had a special aesthetic in contrast to the wall. The color of the floor was dark golden, as if golden sand had been mixed with black sand.

Which, combined with the bright aesthetics of the walls, creates a truly atmospheric Pyramid Egyptian climate.

The irritating element of this floor was undoubtedly the sound of flowing water accompanying each step. It was like there was water flowing inside the walls, it was really weird. However, he speculated that this floor of the Labyrinth may have been designed after the Egyptian Aqueduct, or that the Pyramids originally had a water supply system. However, that's just speculation. However, trying to listen to the sounds of footsteps was really difficult.

A method of smelling an opponent, even for representatives of other races. It was almost impossible, in the air he could smell the strong smell of damp coming from the plants sticking out between the sand bricks.

(Viego)-This wasn't in the original....I was hoping it would at least be true to the anime or light novel...Fuck...I thought it was an exception to have more families and gods in the city than the original. It is something to be accepted. However, the fact that even Dungeon disagrees. And I don't even fucking know what shit will come around the corner. Although it's the first level ... As long as it's not something invisible ... Because I will die faster than I can say "strip club in a fantasy world". Well done, I will not have more motivation to fight!

He said in an angry tone, swinging his sword nervously and slashing the air. After finishing the brief monologue, Viego gripped his sword tighter and reached the first fork .

Viego pressed himself against the right edge of the wall first and leaned out slightly to quickly look in both directions. To hide again.

Vi's breathing quickened, a slight sweat appeared on his forehead. And the heart began to beat faster, despite the sign of fear. Viego was smiling in a rather peculiar way.

The left direction from its current position is empty, it is a straight short corridor of just under 10 meters before the next bend appears. On the right, however, the corridor was straight, identical to the straight corridor at the beginning. But now, in the right corridor, he spotted his first opponent. And it wasn't a goblin to hunt, but a mummy.

A mummy in this world, just looking at her slow movements. It is much slower than Zombie from The Walking Dead. The image of the Mumi is quite classic, a skinny man, or a skeleton with minimal amount of rotten meat wrapped in gray bandages badly worn by time. That tightly wrap around the emaciated body of the undead creature. The creature's face is quite peculiar, the place where the mouth should be is as if exposed and a green tongue slightly too long sticks out of the creature's mouth. The creature's eyes cannot be seen, instead there are sockets from which a small green light is emitted.

(Viego)-I wonder what his name was, how he lived... even though he's a monster. Well, fuck. Tutendick will know my secret of the pyramid....that sounded wrong, I'll just kill him. By the way... hmm... Mummies are deaf, because I've been raving for a minute and he hasn't attacked me yet. Never mind.

Viego knowing that his opponent, in his eyes, was not much of a challenge. With a good mood and a relaxed body, he slowly approached his opponent. The mummy at the moment when he turned from the earlier straight road. As if sensing Vi, she turned and immediately began walking slowly toward him.

(Viego)-It should be easy. Hihi...

Viego, even having less than 5 meters between himself and the opponent, hid his shields on his back. And confidently, he grabbed his one-handed sword unnecessarily two-handed. And he was slowly getting ready to assassinate the Egyptian pseudo pharaoh in the face.

The mummy had arms along the body, as if hanging helplessly attached to the body's hull. Viego wanted to finish off the monster in a slightly exaggerated way. Namely, he wanted to make a straight cut from a jump. After all, the mummy wouldn't have had time to raise her hands anyway, let alone attack him. He couldn't be more wrong.

(Viego)-FUUUCCCCKKK!!!!

Once he jumped out and fell fast with his sword pointing the sharp side straight at the center of the monster's face. The mummy's right hand seemed to glow with a bright yellow light or aura. And the monster's right hand moved straight towards Vi's chest with astonishing speed. Which resulted in more than just a scratch on Vi's leather armor. But his whole body was thrown hard against the left wall of the corridor. Just five meters from its former location. However, that was only because of the attack account, and landing on a hard sandstone wall only added to the pain and injury.

Viego, cursing at the top of his lungs, spat a mouthful of blood onto the floor. And seeing that the mummy doesn't wait for him to get up. And with the same step as before, he moves towards him. He, despite the devastating pain in his back and chest, rests his weight on his right hand resting on the wall. Increases the distance between him and the enemy to gain a few moments of extra time to collect himself and collect his thoughts.

(Viego)-Don't you motherfucker think I'm letting you go. I need a moment... And I'll give you a Pyramid Smash in your ass.

Generally from the fact that it's just one enemy whose movement speed is ridiculously slow. Viego simply walked the corridor, keeping distance between himself and the enemy. And while he's regaining some of his strength, he's started developing strategies in his head. It took a few minutes, but while he was confident in his simple but effective plan.

From the simple fact that the mummy was mindlessly following him, Viego steered it against one of the walls, specifically the right one for the monster, the left one for Viego. He did it to block the mummy's right arm. He didn't know if the monster was right-handed or if monsters didn't have that rule.

So as Viego precaution, he removed the shield from his back and held it in his left hand, ready to block an attack.

As the monster moved in a straight line along the wall, Viego did the same, but walking backwards and gradually reducing the distance. Giving the monster a chance to close the distance between them. And when he sensed the right moment. Viego quickly took a few quick steps before the mummy turned around. He was behind her back. And without waiting for his opponent's reaction, Viego pierced the monster's head.

(Viego)-Yeah..You're good how toilet paper, like this...Muahaha...

After piercing the monster's head, which is probably the monster's vital point. Which dealt him devastating critical damage. As a result, the monster's body turned to gray smoke, leaving only a small crystalline purple stone and a piece of bandage on the floor.

It was literally rectangular material, resembling a fragment of a recently deceased monster. The length of the material belt is only 10 centimeters and 4 centimeters wide. It was small, and Viego didn't know what it could be useful for. However, it is certain that he will either sell it or use it to connect to some part of his inventory.

After defeating Vi's opponent, he thought about the nature of his first monster for a while. And he literally laughed at his earlier attitude towards the opponent. The mummy apparently has the ability to strike quickly, accompanied by the visual effect of glowing sand surrounding the back of the hand, making something like a mark or afterimage.

However, the mummy attack mechanic is hilariously simple. The monster approaches the opponent and unexpectedly quickly, probably with the help of some skill, attacks the opponent. The perfect monster to teach a rookie that overconfidence can end life prematurely.

Viego considered ending the Dungeon fight for today, but considering there was only one monster around the next bend as well. And fighting him with caution and sticking to simple tactics. It doesn't require much effort, he decided to move on and try to defeat them as much as possible to increase his supply of purple crystal stones called cores and strips of bandage or whatever it is.

Fighting two at once is also not a big problem. Most of the time, Viego was able to jump behind their backs and make two slashes before the opponents had time to turn around and attack him.

Up to a point, Viego had managed to defeat exactly 10 mummies that spawned in teams of three or less. In the case of three-man, each time Viego failed to land the third punch and the last opponent would hit his chest. Which each time ended with a blow that easily sent him with impetus to a nearby wall or floor. Hitting the floor felt more painful, but it still hurt a lot.

(Viego)-No..no...I do not care. I can't handle so many, and my back hurts too much. Goodbye. If he thinks of something, he'll come back. Goodbye.

He said when he found a square-shaped room far too wide, where about 10 mummies were kept. Viego supposedly seeing that the room would allow him to maneuver between them, he wasn't sure if among these monsters there wasn't a rare one that has a ranged attack. It was a simple thought though. It was enough to get him back out.

Going back to the beginning of the Dungeon was fun to say the least, Viego took a wrong turn twice and had to beat two more mummies. So when he left the Dungeon after less than 4 hours, as it turned out, the corridors were long and it was not always possible to meet an opponent on one of them. It was still light, he didn't have a watch, so if he had to guess it's about 3:00.

People left the Dungeon as he did, but for him it was peculiar and strange. Because he entered the dungeon alone and left alone. And I think he only saw alien tracks once, specifically footprints on a pile of sand. Which weren't his, but were cowboy boot prints or something.

Although considering the amount of people in the city and even more people entering the Dungeon. Probably each floor is a separate dimension and not everyone enters the same. He didn't know how the system worked. So, without thinking too much, he went to the Adventurer's Guild to sell the cores and find out what the pieces of material dropped from the monsters and if they had any uses or value.

After a while, Viego found himself in the Adventurer's Guild. Along the way, he admired the displays of some of the shops, especially the Blacksmith Shops under the Hephaestus Family. Valuable at exhibitions, even for a simple dagger they exceeded several hundred thousand. Which made Viego shake his head at what he could buy with it.

Apart from waiting in line for several minutes, Viego found himself in a private Counselor/Assistant's office. Vie was assigned a Red-haired girl belonging to the race of half wolf half human. She had long red hair and wore formal Guild attire. Her figure was athletic and there was no shortage of curves in all the right places. The breasts, despite being small, looked firm and perfect to hold in the hand. However, the coldness on her face, which, despite her golden eyes, emanated seriousness and a business approach.

(Rose)-Hello Mr Firebones. I understand that you are after your first visit to the Dungeon, judging by the injuries on your breastplate. There were no injuries. Do you have any observations about your first time in the Dungeon?

Rose sitting with her legs crossed and a serious expression on her face as she filled out a document. She asked a question that slightly shocked Viego, who was sitting across from the woman. Viego stroked his hair and, after a moment's thought, replied in an equally calm and controlled voice full of curiosity.

(Viego)-Certainly not to be too confident. Even when the opponent seems extremely easy to defeat.

(Rose)-Mummy...?

(Viego)-Yes...

(Rose)-Before we move on to estimating the value of cores and materials obtained in the Dungeon. Do you have any questions?

(Viego)-Yes... I've noticed that a lot of people enter the Dungeon. However, when I went to the first floor, I saw only two people's footprints. What is it all about?

(Rose)-That's a good question. All floors except the safe zones are like separate worlds. In simple words. Therefore, depending on the number of people in the team or if you work solo. You can enter a mini-world where two or more one-person teams can be present. Or many multiplayer. Dungeon has its own system for choosing the difficulty of opponents and the randomization of rare and epic monsters.

(Rose)-While we're on the subject of the Dungeon. The floor, as I said, depends on the number of people in the Dungeon. The number of people on a given floor of the Dungeon affects the number of monsters and the size of the floor. And how lower floors are less likely to spawn rare monsters. In the example, the first floor contains mostly the base monster species. However, there is a 1 to 5 rare monster spawn chance. Though they may not occur, depending on luck and the whims of the Dungeon.

(Rose)-If you want detailed information on the monsters in the Guild Shop, you can purchase the Monster Manual for the first 20 floors. However, you need to choose the right copy. Because only after passing the first 5 floors will you be able to clearly determine which Dungeon route you are on.

(Rose)-The Dungeon Trail. It's basically a stack of floors. Because not everyone starts in the Tombs of Egypt like Mr. Some people start in the Caves where they meet the gremlins, Slimes. In general, there are many cloths. And for example, the person who started in the Cave and fought the Slime after going to the next floor. He may then come across an Egyptian Tomb. However, the monsters that person will encounter will be different from the ones you have encountered. Or they will look identical, but their strength and endurance will be much greater. It's really a random thing and there are many scenarios that even I can't predict.

(Rose)-Now let's move on to pricing. The 12 cores of the F rank are natural because the Mummy is one of the weakest monsters at this rank. It didn't get rank, F-, only because of a strong skill capable of hitting an opponent and doing serious damage to them depending on where it hit. The purchase price is 50 Valis per core, for a total of 600 Valis.

Viego saw no point in haggling over valuable purchases, since he himself did not know the exact value or general knowledge of the cores and their use. Not to mention elsewhere you can sell them. So without hesitation he immediately took 600 Valis and then took out 12 strips of cloth obtained from Mumia.

(Rose)-12 fiber strips. The current market price is 10 Valis each. Which adds up to, well, 120 Valis. Do you want to sell all?

(Viego)-I'd like to ask first. Could you tell me more about this material?

On Rose's face, for a split second, there was a minimal difference in the stone face. Apparently, such a question is not asked often. Though that's just Viego's internal speculation.

(Rose)-Of course... Fiber strips. This is one of the most basic Dungeon drops. Well, the floor, as I mentioned earlier, the Egyptian Labyrinth, is one of the most frequently received by Adventurers, the Dungeon floor.

(Rose)-As for its application in terms of ordinary citizen. It is a material obtained in the production of clothes, most often for the inner sides of robes, but only after processing by the Alchemist.

(Rose)-For Adventurers, however, this commodity has more value. Because such a material strip is most often used to make bandages, due to the absorbency of substances such as blood. However, the best advantage of this material, although it's not a big deal if this material is used to make, for example, a scarf, made only of this material. This scarf can get the F- rank really low resistance property, but only on a scarf. However, if you use a material in the cladding of, for example, a shield that already contains this property. The addition of this material may slightly increase these properties.

(Viego)-Since this is my first time in the Dungeon, I'd like to keep two cloth strips. They are of no great value, as you said, but I would like to keep these two materials as a keepsake.

Viego was internally disappointed with the poor value and use of this material. At first, he thought he could upgrade his armor with it. However, to the touch, this material is not very pleasant to the touch. However, putting on the breastplate, he has a T-shirt underneath, after all. While he was thinking that, an idea came to mind. Refinement or improvement of the material. A simple combination of two strips into one. The idea brought a smile to his face. Which surprised Rose a bit. Because Viego smiled as he looked closely at the two belts.

(Viego)-For now, it'll be all. Thank you for your help. And I'll see you probably tomorrow.

(Rose)-Thank you for using the Guild's services. Welcome back. And please be careful in the dungeon. Try not to die.

Rose's last words as he left her office made him smile slightly. Because she was the first to show minimal good intentions towards him. And the last comment, although a bit scary. He sensed the concern in him. He speculated that it was probably because her previous charges might not have survived in the Dungeon. And that was the reason for this concern. But he didn't know that and was only guessing. And Rose could only be a slightly secretive nice person with a business mindset.

Without thinking too much about it, Viego headed for his room in the Tavern. To lick the wounded, because even though the pain is not so intense anymore. It still causes uncomfortable pain with sudden movements.
