Chapter 130: Chapter 129: Mortals, Gods and Monsters(4)

Gigantic pillars of blue hot burning flames surged all across the massive horde of demonic beasts, illuminating the battlefield with an intense azure glow.

The flames erupted from the ground in towering columns, engulfing the demonic beasts in searing fire and reducing them to ash with each devastating blast.

At the forefront of the onslaught stood Zenkichi, cold sweat running down his forehead as he concentrated on using his Hell Flames on the demonic horde. With a fierce expression, he channeled more of his demonic energy, causing his horns and tail to pop out, surprising everyone around him.

But he was unconcerned with their reactions, his focus solely on decimating the enemy before him. As the flames surged forth from his outstretched hands, he could feel the raw power coursing through him, slowly eating him from the inside.

The burn marks in his palms began to spread outwards, covering his entire hand, turning them a deep shade of black and blue cracks.

'I... can't take it anymore!' Zenkichi gritted his teeth and stopped the flow of demonic energy, his hands trembling from the strain.

The flame pillars dissipated, but the fires had already wrought havoc among the demonic horde, leaving behind a scene of smoldering destruction.

Even so, more demonic beasts continued to pour forth, their numbers seemingly endless. Zenkichi's chest heaved as he struggled to catch his breath, the aftermath of his exertion weighing heavily upon him.

'Dammit! This damn bloodline ability of mine is just too strong! I thought that I could increase my mastery of Flames of Gehenna without succumbing to its side effects, but it's proving to be more challenging than I anticipated.' Zenkichi clenched his fists, frustration evident in his expression.

Gudako approached him, concern etched on her face. "Zenkichi, you pushed yourself too hard. You need to rest. Leave the rest to us!"

He bit his lower lip and reluctantly nodded. "Alright, I'll trust you to handle it," he replied, his voice strained with exhaustion. He took a step back, allowing Gudako and the others to take charge of the situation.

As Zenkichi watched his companions spring into action, he glanced to the side to look at his system interface.

[Rolling... Winning number #16! Congratulations to user for getting: Warrior's War Cry(B rank)!]

[Warrior's War Cry: a morale boosting Skill. Similar to the breathing techniques in martial arts, it boosts the user's physical and mental strength, enhancing their combat capabilities and resilience.]

'This is Leonidas' skill, right? Not bad, not bad. Ugh, kinda wish it was a healing skill instead.'

Zenkichi grunted and leaned against the edge of the wall trying to steady himself. Although he did have a basic healing spell, it wasn't going to help much. Flames of Gehenna is Hell Flames, making ordinary healing magic useless.

The only possible way was that a Saint were to heal him or for him to die from his flames and come back alive to be immune to it with Cattish Tale... yeah, he's going with the first one.

While being immune to its side effects was a tantalizing prospect, he needed to die first! It was scientifically proven that dying burning to death was one of the most excruciating ways to die. The thought sent a shiver down Zenkichi's spine.

'Just when does Gudako plan on summoning the others? I'm hoping she gets either Jeanne or Martha on the first try. Or a variant of theirs are here.' he thought to himself.

It was really strange. Somehow, other than Mash and Altria, the rest of the servants in Chaldea can't be brought to the singularity until they get summoned into the singularity through Mash's shield. He thought about bringing it up to either Romani or Da Vinci, but he put it to the side as it wasn't that that important.

The battlefield raged on with incredible intensity as the soldiers kept on with the defense while Mash, Brunhilde and Altria fought alongside them, holding back the relentless onslaught of demonic beasts. Blood of the demonic beasts mixed with the scorched earth, creating a macabre tableau of carnage and destruction, pools of blood mingling with the ashes of fallen enemies.

"Haaa!" Altria let out a resounding battle cry as she swung her lance, enveloped with a golden light, cutting through the ranks of demonic beasts with ease. Her lance cleaved through the air with deadly precision, each strike turned a demonic beast into ashes.

Riding upon her horse, she lead a small group of soldiers on clearing the east side of the battlefield, her presence inspiring courage and determination in those around her. With each swing of her lance, she carved a path through the demonic horde, her golden light illuminating the darkness with a radiant glow.

"To me, my soldiers!" she cried out, her voice ringing clear above the chaos of battle. "Stand fast and fight with all your might! We shall not falter in the face of this darkness!"

Her words served as a rallying cry for the weary soldiers, infusing them with renewed vigor and determination.

"Follow the Goddess of Victory!"

"Yes! Yes! Yes!"

"Ooooh! I shall lay my life down for you, my Goddess!"

"My Goddess, I bring you the blood of our enemies!!"

"..." Altria gave them a blank for a moment before shaking her head. Annihilating the enemies comes first, worrying about being worship as a God comes later.

Mash fought by her side, her shield deflecting and counterattacking incoming attacks with precision as she protected the soldiers from harm. Holding onto her shield, she began to activate one of her skills: Exalted Impervious Wall of Snowflakes, applying a defense buff to the entire squad of soldiers around her.

On the west side of the battlefield, Brunhilde cleaved through the horde of demonic beasts on her own. Bright flashes of purple and cyan lights emanated from her spear and sword respectively with each strike she made, leaving trails of devastation in their wake.

She moved with unmatched agility and precision, her movements a deadly dance amidst the chaos of battle.

A demonic beast was about to sneak attacked her from behind, when a dagger flew out from her sub-space, piercing through the creature's eye with unerring accuracy. The dagger didn't stop and went its way to another demonic beasts.

Brunhilde didn't even spare a glance backward as she continued her relentless assault, three more daggers flew out and found their marks, dispatching the approaching demons with lethal precision.

With each strike of her weapons, she carved a path through the demonic horde, her movements fluid and graceful despite the chaos around her.

'Ahh... so nostalgic,' a smirk appeared on her lips as she cut apart demonic beasts.

Meanwhile, on top of the walls, Gudako focused her energy on both powering Mash and healing the injured soldiers with her mystic code. Her hands glowed with a soft, healing light as she moved from one wounded soldier to the next, closing wounds and soothing pain with gentle, precise motions.

The soldiers sighed in relief as their injuries faded away under her touch, their spirits bolstered by her unwavering support.

As she tended to the wounded, Gudako kept a vigilant eye on the battlefield below, a frown on her face as she saw the demonic beasts come in droves towards the center due to Brunhilde, Altria, Mash and some of the soldiers taking care of the sides.

Leonidas was the one leading on coordinating the defense efforts and directing the soldiers where they were most needed. His strategic acumen and tactical expertise were crucial in turning the tide of battle in their favor, ensuring that every movement was calculated and effective.

With each passing moment, the defenders grew stronger and more determined, pushing back against the demonic onslaught with renewed vigor.

'From what I can see, there's no more demonic beasts coming from the horizon. If we keep this up, we should be able to get rid of them in a couple of hours.' She thought to herself, hoping that they could last that long.

Her eyes widened when she saw the face of a demonic beast appearing before her, its claws dug into the structure of the wall. Its teeth gnashed as it let out a guttural growl, its eyes fixated on Gudako and the injured soldiers with a hunger for blood and destruction.

"A demonic beast has climb up!" one of the soldiers shouted in alarm.

As the soldiers tried to intercept it, the demonic beast lunged at Gudako and the injured soldiers with ferocious speed. Her heart raced as she summoned every ounce of her magical power, wanting to stop it on its track.

"Gudako!" Zenkichi noticed what was happening and immediately tried to conjure a fireball to blast it away, but someone appeared first.

"Stop right there, foul creature!"

Leonidas appeared from behind, moving with lightning speed, intercepting the creature mid-air with his leg and delivering a powerful kick that sent it crashing back down to the ground. The impact shook the earth beneath them and Leonidas stood firm, spear and shield in his hands, his red cape bellowing against the wind.

"Gudako! You alright?" Zenkichi asked, checking up on her.

Gudako nodded.

"Miss Fujimaru, Mister Hitoyoshi, thank you and your group for helping us so far," Leonidas said, his voice steady despite the chaos around them. "Victory is near. I shall take care of the ones heading straight at us. It's time to let these beasts know..."

He jumped down from the wall, his spear effortlessly piercing the demonic beast's head, he raised his spear, poised and ready for battle. Intense magical energy began emanating from his body, 300 projectile shields began to appear from behind him.

Leonidas was famous for many things in his life, but the one thing that stood out, was his greatest battle.

Outnumbered and surrounded, he faced the Persian army at the Battle of Thermopylae. Though the odds seemed insurmountable, he and his 300 Spartans fought with unmatched bravery and resilience.

The 300 Spartans that he had led, his brothers that had fought alongside him until the very end, sacrificing themselves for the greater good. Their legend had inspired countless generations, their sacrifice immortalized in tales of valor and heroism.

And this time, they would reappear in the battlefield once more.

"This! Is! SPARTAAA!!"

"Thermopylae Enomotia!!"
