Chapter 127: Chapter 126: Golden Generation
Shrek Academy has existed for over 20,000 years. It started out as a very small and exclusive school that only accepted monsters. The Academy, over time, became an independent organization, with its own city. It became the most respected and sacred academy in the entire Douluo continent, producing brilliant Soul Masters.
Shrek Academy is situated in the center of Shrek City which is governed by the Academy itself; the Sea God Pavilion members specifically.
Although the Academy houses numerous powerhouses, most being Titled Douluos and the most powerful soul master alive in the current era, it acts as a neutral power. It does not participate in politics nor the hunting of soul beasts.
Shrek Academy was very strict on its internal affairs. None of its students could participate in the continent's disputes. Even so, many of the restrictions were lifted after graduation. As long as they didn't tarnish Shrek Academy's name, the outer court graduates could choose their path without interference. Of course, becoming criminals was out of the question.
This was the dream school of every young soul master in the continent, possibly even the entire world!
Wu Siduo wasn't any exception as she stared at the wide Sea God Lake and the far out distant gigantic tree; its branches and leaves reaching the heavens, in the middle of where the Sea God Island was, with a look of awe and barely contained excitement.
Even though she was very far from the tree, much less the sea since she's currently standing in the pathway leading to her classroom building, she could still feel the faint distinctive life energy radiating from it in the air.
"This isn't the number one school in the continent for nothing. No wonder no one in the continent would dare offend the academy, except those crazy cultists. Without Shrek Academy, most Soul Masters in the continent wouldn't be able to reach their full potential" She muttered as she spared one last look at the tree before heading towards her classroom. She had achieved her first objective, now comes the second. "I wonder where that jerk is. He said he was going to be here..."
Three years has passed since the continent was thrown into chaos by the several city wide attacks launched by the Holy Spirit Cult.
Everyone thought there would be peace.
Unfortunately, a lot of things has changed. And peace was one of them.
Those with dark or evil related martial souls are further discriminated by the entire populace of the continent, which lead to the rise of a group called the Light; an organization hellbent in the purge of those Soul Masters with martial souls related to anything dark or evil. They wouldn't even hesitate to execute a child if they have to.
This incident had unfortunately made dozens of soul masters with dark and evil attributed martial souls voluntarily go joined the Holy Spirit Cult or other related organization. With this, came a rise of violence and destruction in the whole continent!
A lot of people tried to stop the Light from causing more chaos, with both the Federation and Shrek Academy even officially making the Light as a terrorist organization; arresting or killing anyone even slightly related to the organization. But the people's hatred and anger, especially the ones who survived or had their loved ones killed in the mass genocide of the attacks initiated by the Holy Spirit Cult, wasn't so easily snuff out by such a thing. In fact, they even went as far as started accusing the organizations of holding a number of evil soul masters and used such a excuse to bomb their headquarters!
That was when the Federation and Shrek Academy took the kiddie gloves off; they went into manhunt for every single member of the Light, destroyed their hidden base and executed their leaders. They also went to find any hidden evil soul master bases, preferably wanting to find their HQ, so there would finally be peace once more.
Unfortunately however, there were some who managed to escape and hid but that was a story for another time.
This had lasted for almost three years and the entire event just ended a couple months ago.
But that wasn't the only news as well.
During the Holy Spirit Cult attacks, called the Unholy Genocide, one city had managed to stand up and took back its control from the invaders–Skysea City. And the ones who led the charge against the Holy Spirit Cult were surprisingly some kids! Although it was shocking and dumbfounding, everyone in the continent praised these children for rising against such villains and defeating them!
Everyone now knew, from what the Sea God Pavilion Master and the other powerful soul masters that had praised and rewarded the kids, had great potential and would no doubt become legendary people. But that would be in several years in time when they grow up.
At least, that was what it was supposed to.
After a year of the Unholy Genocide, there was a regional tournament in Heaven Dou City that invited several academies near it.
It was there that the some of the same youths who help saved Skysea City, became a sensation once more and became the champions!
First was Tang Wulin, known as the Asura Spear King who completely dominated the solo match up competition and became the king. He was known for his uses of his domain made up of his killing intent and his mastery of his spear to dominate his matches. Although he had a trash martial soul, the Blue Silver Grass, and a cultivation of two rings; he managed to defeat a Soul Ancestor on one-on-one battle!
He'd became an inspiration for all of those with weak martial souls.
Next were the runner ups for the solo match up competition, Ye Xinglan, Gu Yue, Mu Xi and Xie Xie: in that order. The three girls had really astounded everyone with their skills and control over their martial souls, especially Gu Yue. Her control over six elements and forming some of them into solid weaponry, and launching them to her enemies had really stunned everyone with the colorful flashy display of different elements. She had gained the name, Goddess of Elemental Armory.
But the two other girls weren't behind, in fact, some could even say that their swordsmanship was unimaginable and flashy! There had been no wasted moves, only maximum efficiency and minimal effort was used in every sword strike they used. Due to their flashy display of elemental prowess, Ye Xinglan was known as the Sword of Star while Mu Xi was known as the Sword of Flame.
Xie Xie however, although showed off his strength to fight against higher level opponents and in just a few moves, hadn't received much praise and compliment since he had forfeited during his match against Mu Xi. People had taken on calling him as the Shadow Walker.
Finally, the last two youths, who had only showed up in the team fight competition, were support type soul masters yet were still great combatants were Xu Lizhi and Xu Xiaoyan, with some mistakenly thinking that they were siblings. They were greatly known for their powerful buffs and group control respectively, which they then earned the names of Bun Lord and Ice Fairy.
But in terms of popularity, both Tang Wulin and Mu Xi had them all bested due to their performance of blacksmithing and titles as both champions!
When they won the team competition, everyone immediately started calling them as the Golden Generation and the supposedly next generation of Shrek monsters as the media soon learned that they were studying in Shrek Academy.
These were the thoughts of what's currently going on inside of Wu Siduo's mind as she listened to the words spoken by her teacher after she won the battle against her entire classmates and thus becoming the class president.
She remembered the encounter she and her mother had with the red haired boy, Xiu Ye. At that time, they didn't know that he was going to lead an army of soldiers against an army of undead and evil soul masters. They only knew him as a unfortunate victim of a evil soul master and managed to escape but only to return back to help his friends and citizens of the city from the wrath of the evil soul masters.
Even though she shows off cold and indifferent to others, but even she felt worry and concern of the boy she had maybe became friends with.
However, the last time she ever saw or heard from him was the live national broadcast of him and his group being rewarded for their valour.
Since then, she nor anyone else had heard anything about him.
That was the second reason why she wanted to go here, to find him. To talk to him. To spar with him.
'To be friends with him...' Wu Siduo let out a sigh as she walked the halls and entered into the cafeteria to have her lunch, her contribution points ready to use.
Unlike other academies or any other types of schools, Shrek Academy uses contribution points as currency instead of Federation coins. Federation coins can be exchanged for points and vice versa.
As she grabbed a silver tray and went to get her food: consisting of a bowl of soft white rice that towered ten inches in height, five medium roasted fishes; that was just roasted to the perfect crisp, vegetable soup that contained sliced cabbage, carrot and leak, and finally a large juicy steak fit for a king.
Wu Siduo stared with opened drooling jaw before snapping out of her daze and hurriedly wiped her mouth.
She raised her head up, to say that she didn't order this meal, "Hey–" when the words got caught in her mouth. Her eyes widened.
"Don't worry," Standing in front of her, was a familiar teenager with long crimson hair tied into a ponytail; resting on his left shoulder, though some parts of his hair seem to have changed into white like snow. His golden eyes still seem to hold maturity and experience beyond his peers. His skin seem to be a tone bit darker as well, like a tan.
Although he was wearing hair and an apron, it couldn't hide his muscular build and handsome face. In fact, wearing such clothes seem to make him endearing in Wu Siduo's eyes.
He kindly smiled at her, which she would deny to anyone that she was blushing for, and winked. "It's on the house."
"You...Xiu Ye?"
"The one and only."
