In life, you never get what you want. That was a fact. Children never understood this until they became adults.
And Cai Yue'er, well, that was what she was feeling as her face hit her desktop and yelled out in frustration and indignation.
'Become a teacher, I said. It was going to be fun, I said. You can finally have some petty revenge on the brats who rejected my mentorship to them, I said. Ugh.' She groaned into the wooden desk and tilted her face to the side, revealing an elderly woman with long white hair.
She was Cai Yue'er, the outer court headmistress and an elder of the Sea God Pavilion. She's known for her eccentricity, sternness, pride, arrogance, ego and known only to her circle of friends–childish.
Which she would deny firmly, and would slap the person spreading such nonsense to death. She was being serious, and anyone who knows of her would shake in fear.
Sixty years ago, she had a reputation throughout the continent as a heaven-shaking eccentric, yielding to no one and always doing as she pleased. Her common rampages had flipped the entire soul master world upside down. Peace only returned to the continent when Shrek Academy dispatched people to retrieve her. Like so, she vanished without a trace from the public's eyes. Then she started to teach in Shrek Academy.
Cai Yue'er had only taught at inner court ever since she was retrieved by the academy, teaching the most brilliant and prodigious young soul masters in the academy. At first, she wasn't really that much into it, she was still at the prime of her life at that time. She had a lot of things she wanted to do in her to do list and teaching kids wasn't one of them.
She wanted to do anything what she wanted to do, she had the freedom after all. It comes as being one of the top of the food chain in the world.
But as the years passed and she continued on teaching to the younger generation, she got used to it and fell in love with the job.
She didn't have any family, no spouse or children, so teaching the students in academy felt like what having kids was. Though it was really one-sided really. Most of the students she taught didn't like her for her very 'tough' teaching methods, but they were still grateful for her for pushing them to achieve their outmost potential.
Seeing their smiles and their heartfelt gratitude, Cai Yue'er had decided on continuing to teach in the academy till the day she dies. Specifically the inner court however, because the students in the outer were still kids that were sucking their mommy's tits and sucking their thumbs.
"... All except for those little bastards." Cai Yue'er grumbled as she raised her head up and looked down at the sheets of papers stacked besides her right hand.
Those papers were the written exam papers she gave to grade one class one, the class she was helping teach once in a while, and on top of that stack was a folder that contained the grades of the students. In it, a certain group of students' names were circled with red ink.
It was Tang Wulin and his friends, including Wu Siduo and a couple more students.
A couple years ago when she heard about the Unholy War and the children involved in it, Cai Yue'er thought that she had to help the poor children from their trauma and train them herself. Except, that didn't happen.
Tang Wulin was Yun Ming's disciple, Xie Xie was Zang Xin's and a member of that secret creed in Tang Sect, Mu Xi was Ao Rui's, Xu Xiaoyan was Elder Bai's disciple; an old friend of hers alongside Zhuo Shi, Feng Wu Yu, Ya Li and Yun Ming. Ye Xinglan, that crazy star swordwoman, was also the disciple of Zang Xin, while the fatso, Xu Lizhi, was a candidate in becoming Elder Long's disciple.
She could understand some of them but the rest didn't become the disciples of their respective masters when she asked them to become her disciples. Only after they rejected did they become their disciples!
They had the gall to reject her! Her! The Silver Moon Douluo, a Hyper Douluo! She's someone who could stand equal and even defeat an average Super Douluo, rank 98, who's a Third-word Battle Armor Master!
But the most annoying ones of all, were Xiu Ye and Gu Yue. Those two kids were the ones she really wanted as her disciples, as she could see the monstrous potential those two have. Especially the former.
After all, have you seen someone have the capability to hold off a Titled Douluo for one solid minute while being a Soul Ancestor?
As for Gu Yue, excluding her capability to defeat soul masters a couple major realms above her own just like the rest of her friends, her god-like control of the elements was something Cai Yue'er was most amazed about.
Not only does she have the martial soul to use six elements, a feat that no one in the entire human history has ever had a martial soul like hers, but her control over them to the point of mixing the elements together, of opposite elements might she add, and constructing the elements into solid forms.
Out of everyone in the entire academy she taught, these two were the ones she has ever wanted to be her personal disciples.
But they rejected her as well. Their reasons being...
"I'm sorry Elder Cai, but I'm already the disciple of Leng Yaozhu and a Spiriter of Spirit Pagoda. So I can't be your disciple." Gu Yue said, with a low bow.
"I'm sorry Elder Cai, but no. I don't want to be your disciple. The reason being your terrible personality and giant ego that would hold me back from ever reaching my potential." Xiu Ye said, whilst reading a book and not looking at her.
Okay. She could understand Gu Yue's reasoning but the absolute disrespect Xiu Ye was giving her? Yeah. Cai Yue'er did not regret that she tried to punch the little shit, only for him to dodge using a Flash Step, something at a high mastery of the Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track could accomplish, and escaped her grasp by using that space cutting sword of his.
But who is Cai Yue'er, if not stubborn? So she chased after him.
Which had lasted for two whole months. As she tries to chase after him, to give him a good beating for not respecting his elders, Xiu Ye would always escape her grasp by using his sword, Yamato she recalls hearing him say its name, and even retaliated back against her attacks.
She had only stopped because of Yun Ming and several other elders in the Sea God Pavilion and that they had captured Xiu Ye and forced him to apologize to her.
Although she was a bit happy and calm now, since she could terrorize–teach a lesson to most of the kids that rejected her and some of the kids in class one showed great promise and she wasn't apprehensive of rejecting her as her master, she was still unhappy that she still haven't given the boy a spanking and a good knuckle sandwich.
"Well, what did I expect. He is the son of those two." Cai Yue'er sighed exasperatedly. Her eyes turned half-lidded as she recalled Yun Ming, Ya Li and Elder Long telling her the of who the parents of Xiu Ye was. They found out because the parents themselves contacted them.
Of all the parents that boy could've had, it had to be those two, she thought with a shudder running down her spine.
The two most wanted people in the world, and previous members of the legendary Ten Commandments of Shrek Academy.
She shook her head, "But my current headache is these bastards. Seriously, taking an entire team of seven by one of themselves? And they're now trying to fight against the sixth grade students, who I'm sure they'll demolish... Fuck! It's only been a few months since they were demoted! Is this even a learning experience for them?!" Cai Yue'er cussed as she grabbed the sheets of paper and started to mark them.
Just another day in Shrek Academy.
