The moment the whole army of players entered the hall in quick steps also in formation, silence then dreaded the hallway as everything became tensed all of the sudden. Even thought its good new that nothing popped out suddenly the moment they entered the hall, the dreadful silence on the other hand increased the pressure in the hallway, causing everyone to feel fear on their surroundings.
As if the build up to something dire, everyone payed attention towards their surroundings as they kept their formation while surrounding the group of girls in the middle.
Soon after when the group almost made it their way to the half of the hallway, one of the players suddenly relaxed his muscles, causing him to slightly let down his guard in that split second. However that split second was more than enough for something that was hiding in the darkness to make its move.
Without a second hesitation a hand suddenly grabbed the shoulder of that loose player, causing him to react to a sudden shock and turned his head around to see the person who touched him. But the moment he did such a thing, a sword then came flying to its direction as it neatly sliced off its head, completely killing the player who loosened his guard.
The moment such a player was killed, the attacker then went back to the darkness as it hid from the eyes of other players. However the attack wasn't something quite neatly done like an assassin, due to that numerous people saw the specific player getting killed, causing all of them to scream and fear and alert the surrounding players.
"Ahhh!!!"
"Holy crap! Someone died!"
Hearing the noise from somewhere around the back of the group, the players that were at the forefront then suddenly halted their advances as they clarified the situation.
"What happened?"
Upon hearing their question, someone then replied.
"Someone died!"
"...What?"
"Someone died!!!"
The moment that the report was made, chill then run down on everyone's spin, as they suddenly felt an eerie presence in their surroundings. The moment the chill was felt, Gus then suddenly had a bad p0remonition to the events, causing to shout out loud to order the remaining players.
"Crap! Were surrounded! Everyone Run!!!"
The moment he said such a thing, a huge pressure suddenly came down to the whole player group, causing everyone to shake in fear. Soon after the pressure was laid down, thousands of eyes suddenly glowed out in the darkness of the hallway as they targeted the player group that was in fear of the pressure. As if a bunch of sheep surrounded by wolves, fear struck everyone's heart as sweat begun to pour out on their heads.
Fighting the fear in his heart, Gus then steeled his resolve as he shouted once more.
"RUN! FORGET THE FORMATION! EVERYONE RUN TO THE OTHER END OF THE HALLWAY!!!!"
Under the pressure of fear and the urging voice of Gus, everyone then frantically ran towards the end of the hallway, completely breaking the formation that was made. If one could describe such scenery, it can then be called an utter chaos. Both men and women no matter what gender or ages, raced towards the end of the hallway using the speed that they were comfortable with.
The only thing that didn't break was the group of girls who closely gathered and followed Cedric as they were reassured that the person himself would protect them. Even the so called celebrity seemed calm as he led the huge group of girls.
"Everyone! calm down! don't worry I'll protect you"
But as if laughing at their miniscule display of effort to survive, the shadows in the darkness then quickly moved in as they begun their killing spree. Of course those players who saw the movement of the shadow and decided to fend them off while running, tried their best to fight back, but was inevitably cut down in about three attacks. If the people who fought back were killed off that easily, much more to the people who decided to ignore the approaching shadow
In just less than a minute, 10 people were already killed by the shadow monster of the hallway. The once 80 players who entered, were then reduced to mere 70.
Soon after scream rose out from the surroundings which just added to the pressure that the players were facing as everyone became chaotic just to escape the hallway. Luckily Gus calmed his state of mind, causing him to react efficiently from the attacks of the shadow monster and fend them off for quite awhile.
However the same couldn't be said to Cedric to is currently sweating buckets just from the pressure and screams which elevated his fear. Nevertheless he tried to stay calm on the surface in order to not embarrass himself from the group of girls behind, often times he even offered a word of advice.
"Everyone! stay together, don't let any of the person beside you to stray fur-"
But before he could finish his calming advice, one of the girls from the back suddenly got caught by a shadow dog on her leg as she was dragged back towards the the group of monsters from afar.
"Ahh!!! Help me! someone save me!"
Hearing the plea of that girl, Cedric then clicked his tongue in annoyance as he realized that everything was falling apart the moment one of the girls got caught by the monster. Nevertheless he wouldn't give up, as long as the situation can be redeemed, he would be able to turn things in his favor.
"Don't worry! I'm coming to save you..."
Even thought he said that out loud in order to assure the captured girl, the shadow dog seemed to laugh at his fake acting as it threw the girl towards the group of shadow dog from afar, resulting to the girl being devoured and ripped to shred by the monsters.
Hearing the girl's painful scream and begged for help towards her savoir, Cedric simply grit his teeth in anger as he glared towards the monster in fury from loosing the chance to fix the situation. No matter what at this moment the situation was unredeemable, this would be a stain to his career.
However as if that wasn't enough, a shadow soldier suddenly appeared before him as it swung down its sword towards the Grand swordsman. Just like what its title implies, Cedric suddenly reacted to such an attack as he defended himself from it cleanly and safely pulled himself out from that danger. But the moment his attention was shifted elsewhere, another girl was caught by the monster as she was shred to pieces by its enormous strength.
Upon seeing that they were being picked off one by one by such monster who is supposed to be idiots, Cedric gritted his teeth in frustration as he felt as if the dungeon was mocking him entirely.
Under the influence of his voice, he then gave the group of girls his decisive decision as he plans to let them fend off for themselves. After all based on the capabilities of the monsters attacking them, Cedric himself had completely underestimated them to such a degree. Plus if he let himself get killed inside this dungeon, not only would his image to the media be destroyed, but even his reputation as a reliable partner in dungeon would also get destroyed.
By telling the girls to hastily ran towards the exit not only would he be able to cover his inability to protect them per promise, he would also be able to push all the blame towards them for their inability to cooperate with him in order for the safety of the whole group. Plus with them running ahead, Cedric could appropriately make them the bait while he escape from the enemy's clutches.
Additionally if ever his plan was spotted by a third party, he would just target the sympathy of the media and masses and sarcastically blame himself. By putting such an act, the media would then sympathize with him, while also comforting him that he did the best he could. An original by product of a two faced person.
If that happened the girls wouldn't able to blame him when they get killed and have a mentality of "If i didn't run far ahead, Cedric could have save me", "I was too uncooperative, looks like its my fault", "I should've just ran ahead and don't stop", "Well it was chaotic, i cant expect Cedric to save me all the time". With such brainwashing mentality, he could sacrifice others under the guise of sympathetic idol hero.
"Everyone! run towards the exit! don't worry! I'll try my best to protect you from behind... trust in me!"
With such charming words, the girls then nodded in agreement towards Cedric's dubious plan as they all ran towards the exit, Unknowingly they were regarded as sacrificial lambs by the person they admire the most.
When such a huge movement happen, some monsters in the shadow naturally took notice of it as they all swarmed towards this players and begun attacking them in both sides. Of course Cedric did protect them at the earlier moments when the group ran, but soon after he slowly dwindled down his efforts as he pretended to have difficulties in keeping them protected.
In order to enact such a thing, Cedric would then tried to stall a fight against one of the monster and pretend that he was having a hard time. Due to that casualties soon rise among the group as people slowly gets killed along the process.
Naturally some girls was still rational in the situation as they fought back against the shadow monsters popping out from the darkness of the hallway and most of them were from Kaido's group as they bravely fend for themselves. In fact Lilia and shelly themselves were working together with their groups Saint and swordswoman as they ran through the hallway.
Due to their effort and sheer teamwork, they were somehow able to make through the enemies in comparison to others who were overwhelmed.
While this was happening Kaido on the other hand effortlessly kills most of the shadow hounds from the back as such monsters couldn't even compare to the monsters he had fought in the void. In terms of strength and numbers, the void's monsters were far superior than these shadow monsters. However since he was at the back of the group, he was naturally left behind by the players who hastily ran towards the exit. Due to that he was literally surrounded by this so called shadow monsters.
But despite being surrounded none of this monsters are able to even land a hit against him, it was as if Kaido himself is completely protected in all angles. Even without going all out in destroying everything, Kaido himself could dominate such monsters.
As he eradicated a dozen of monsters in front of him using the an intense fire he launched from his hand, he then casually walk forward as he soon encountered a player who was currently resisting to die despite its lower half being gone. As for the player himself, hope then appeared on his face as he begs Kaido to help him escape the hallway.
Unfortunately Kaido himself wasn't a saint to begin with, thus instead helping the surviving player, Kaido himself simply walked away. However that particular player just wouldn't budge as he then stretched out and grabbed his ankle.
"Hey! Don't Ignore me... Do you Know... Who i am? If you help me-"
Before such player could utter his next words, Kaido then suddenly created an iron spear out of nowhere and un hesitatingly stabbed it straight to its head, completely killing the said player. If such a person still has energy to beg, then its only appropriate that they should try to die. Those were the words that Kaido thought as he observed this massacre.
While watching most of the people in front of him die, he couldn't help but feel nothing of sort as he see all theses death. It was as if his mentality was forged to see this hell. The longer he gets accustomed on seeing people die, the more he remember just how much those scientist messed with his mind and removed his humanity.
If a normal person was in his place, such a person would naturally breakdown from such a sight. The moment he lost the sense of dread in face of death, that was the moment Kaido ceased to be human.
While blowing away the monster's approaching him from every direction, he then soon came before a woman who he recognized even from back inside the safe area. In fact such a woman was one of the people who badmouthed him when he was arguing with Cedric. Seeing that she was left behind like a useless ragged cloth, Kaido couldn't help but show a wide grin as instincts to kill begun tingling after a long time of being domesticated.
Seeing the woman struggling to survive while one of its leg was cut off by something sharp, Kaido then slowly approached her as he watched her struggle desperately with the hope of the person she adore to save her. But by the time he got closer the woman then recognized him from her pathetic state as she happily asked for his help. In fact for her Kaido's presence was godsend despite her hating him due to his manner.
Even thought she hated him due to his manner of speech and arrogant nature, she could put everything aside as long as he helped her. In fact she was even willing to overlook his arrogance as long as he help her. However Kaido wasn't a pushover of some sort. The woman in front of him has no idea how many people Kaido had forsake just to arrive at this kind of future.
Despite having a shitty future wherein not even his parents could remember him and the whole world is against his existence, he still trudge forward with his hatred for the people who destroyed his life as a fuel for his rage. No matter what as long as the organization who broke him still exist, he will never stop his rampage.
"Hey you! I remember you! Your the guy from before! Please help me"
"..."
"What are you waiting for? are you still mad that i badmouthed you before? I'm sorry alright! I'll forget everything that happened in the safe area, ill even overlook your arrogance... just help me!"
"..."
"... Are you deaf? What are you waiting for?"
As Kaido stomped the head of the shadowy monster beneath his feat and even blew away the approaching monsters, Kaido simply stared at the woman without even moving a single muscle to help her as he finally replied back.
"Look how the tables have changed"
"!!!"
"Aren't you sup[posed to be mad at me? I mean i did ridicule your idol"
"... That? I'm willing to forget all of that as long as you help me"
"Oh are you now?"
"Yes! I'm sorry okay!!!"
"... Are you really sorry tho?"
"...What?"
"I mean... aren't you all high and mighty when you talked back to me? you even have your little girl buddies supporting you from behind... People do tend to have more courage when surrounded by idiots who just parroted everything"
"..."
"What? did i hit a nerve?"
After stating that Kaido snapped his finger, forming a barrier around them which pushed away all the shadow monster near their vicinity. No matter how much the monsters tries to attack the barrier, the barrier itself seemed like an absolute object with nothing could oppose it. Alongside it Kaido even ejected a sound p[roof barrier around them in order to not let anyone from outside the barrier hear what they are saying.
The moment Kaido did such a thing, the woman's eyes budged wide in surprise as she couldn't believe such a barrier exist, what's more is that Kaido even erected such barrier without casting at all. From that moment the woman then realized that Kaido wasn't that a simple guy after all.
"Did you really think that just because you have a backer, you would be able to contend against me? Numbers are meaningless to me"
At that Kaido grabbed ahold of the woman's face in his grip as he forced her to look his way.
"Just like that bastard, you incite people to agree on your words through charisma... using the strength of the people as a power for your own lack of self, you then used it to go against me who believes in strength of individuality"
"..."
"I am a charismatic person myself tho"
"..."
"Well i cant blame you for using idiots as your power, i mean idiot people are just so easy to control... offer them an aid, they will be indebted to you. Praise them, they will admire you. Cherish them, they will love you. Punish them, they will accept it all. Abandon them, they will blame themselves... no matter of guilt will be directed to you... like a blind follower who chase an imaginary goal without an absolute end... no matter how you see it, such people are idiots"
"..."
"Well i don't plan on saving you myself"
The moment Kaido said such a thing, the woman then shook off the hand grasping her mouth as she glared back at Kaido with pure anger.
"Do you really think you could live peacefully the moment you let me die here? I have connections that i can abuse"
"Hahaha! Funny... so do i"
"... I can make your life miserable"
"My life is already a mess... I don't see how you can contribute more"
"I can turn everyone against you"
"Already done that! the whole world is already against me"
"... I-I can destroy your reputation in social media"
"I don't have one"
"... What?... Then i can abduct and threaten to kill everything you ever loved... don't underestimate me"
"Oh really now? Can you really do it though?"
"...What?"
"Your determined to dirty your hands right? but can you really do it though? I mean can you really take that much red?
In that moment a whole pack of shadow monster were currently waiting outside the barrier. Since the monsters couldn't enter the barrier, they then had no choice but to wait till the barrier collapse. From that the woman continued to show her rage
"I-I wont forgive you!!! I wont forget this, ill make you pay"
"You really don't get it do you?"
"???"
"I can do anything to you inside this barrier... torture you, impregnate you, make you my dog, hypnotize you, break your mind... Your life is practically in my hands... so how the hell are you still haughty?
"..."
"Well impregnating you now is quite tempting since you do have quite a face, but I'm not that kind of a person... I have my own standards"
With that Kaido stood up as he begun shrinking back his barrier to the point that it was only small enough to protect his body. Seeing the barrier slowly shrinking away, the woman's face then distorted in fear as she shouted out a plea.
"Please! wait! forget everything i said! I'm sorry! Just save me! please!"
But in front of that plea, Kaido simply walked away as he waved goodbye.
"See you outside the dungeon bitch!"
Th moment his barrier receded, the shadow monster then begun flooding towards the woman, as her screams echoed out into the hall as her whole body got ripped to shreds by the shadow monsters. Once she's dead, her body then dematerialized into mana as she will soon revived back outside the dungeon.
