Chapter 4: Rebirth and 12 years later
From his desk Zeus stood awkwardly by as Eric zoomed off to his new life. Looking at the the status panel next to him, he witnessed several changes to the unfortunate soul caught in his mishap.
"Ah, well, it could be worse I think. At least he isn't like that poor fellow Artemis turned into a rock and stripped of his memories of transmigrating. Let's see, birthplace is now Rainfield Village in the Zhou-Ling district of the Third Sun Empire. Family is a noble clan of some renown and he is the third son with two sisters as well. Race is human with trace elements of a Great Sapphire Raven bloodline. Well, it will be alright, more importantly, 'Is It Wrong to Pick Up Boys In the Labyrinth' is on!"
Completely distracted, he leaves Eric to his fate.

It has been 12 years since I was renamed, ironically, Xin Shenghuo after my rebirth. For a few years my awareness was not present as I was a baby, but slowly I regained most of my memories. If I ever met Zeus again, I'm socking him right in the mouth. Or should I call him Zues as that is what the people in the cultivation World call him apparently. Today is my 12th birthday and I am about to have my spirit roots tested. I hold no hopes despite that fact everyone else in my family has good quality roots. I never chose them, but took Mana vein instead. I'm sorry Dad, I probably will be a cultivation idiot.
"Shen, come on up here, let the Clan Elder test your roots."
"Yes Father."
I now in response to his order and greet the Clan's Elder that is in charge this time.
"Xin Shenghou greets Elder Gao. Please guide me."
I place my hand on the Spirit Perceiving Stone and await Elder Gao to activate it. The stone lights up, filled with many colors. A strand of profound energy flows into my palm, through my meridians. Luckily I have them, or I would be a disgrace to the Clan. From there it probed for my roots. Slowly the colors change to deep red, red, to orange-red, and finally middle colored orange.
"Mid grade Orange Spirit Roots. While not impressive and below most of the family, it is not disgraceful." I ignore the sad and quiet, but it is disappointing, statement.
"Thank you Elder."
"Yes, go collect the cultivation method and a low-tier combat and defensive art. Next."
As I am not the only one that has turned 12, 5 other children from the Clan branches are lined up behind me. Going to collect the cultivation offered by Elder Gao's aid, my brother Zhang, I return to my father side and watch others be tested. As the next child, Xin Qing, approach. Before she could touch the stone, three people enter the hall and interrupt.
"Pardon the interruption Elder Gao. Elder Chen fell sick and could I trouble to the test my children?"
"No worries Young Master Wu. Qing, step aside for them."
Qing quickly steps to the side for the two children of the main house, Xin Huan and Xia Wen. Children of the main branch get tested and trained younger than the others so the son, Huan, is only 8, and the daughter, Wen, is 10.
No doubt both will be clan treasures as the second young master, Xin Wu, and his wife are especially talented.
Huan all smugly steps up and places his hand on the sensing stone which changes to a deep green color, three levels better than mine.
"Low grade Green Spirit roots, you qualify to have their nature tested."
While the color of spirit roots are important as they help gather Spiritual essence, their nature is more important as it details the best arts for you to train in.
"Go to the Clan's Nature Hall later. Little Wen, step up please."
"Hi!"
Xin Wen, the youngest daughter of the main house practically skips up to the stone. She places her hand and then makes a face of complete effort, somehow highlighting her cute features, as if she can force it to see a high tier. The stone gained a sapphire color that got everyone here excited.
"Oh, she got a blue spirit root!"
"Wasn't the last person to have that in the clan was Great Elder!"
"Little Wen is so cute, did you see her face scrunched in effort."
Everyone was praising her, though her brother was pouting that he was put out of the limelight.
"Congratulations little Wen, High Grade Blue spirit roots. Go later to the Nature Hall with your brother."
"Yes Grandpa!" She runs off and hug her father. "Papa, let's watch the everyone else before we go!"
"Really, you don't want to check your nature first?" Wu gentle pats her head while she puppy dog eyes him.
"But everyone here is sooo more nicer, the others are too grumpy when I do good, please!"
Her father looks like he just got struck in the heart.
"Sure, sure. Elder Gao, please continue." Wu goes along with her with a small laugh.
She's cute, but my little sister is cuter, don't fall into her trap! I pinch father as he is all on big smile. Xin Wu and the two kids come by us.
"Greetings Young Second Master." My father salutes him as I follow suit.
"No need for ceremony. I had almost convinced mother to adopt you, till she received heavens blessing and fell pregnant with my younger brother. You, my sworn brother, are closer to me than my Elder brother."
Xin Wu is a good man, not only he treats father well, but everyone else in my family. Despite his fairly spoiled son who is standing, pouting, next to me. While he is spoiled and arrogant, he treat my family like his, though he awkwardly tries to hid it. Father says he is just like Xin Wu when he was younger. Bristly on the outside, silly cute on the inside. It was this awkwardness that won the Turtle-Dragon Mountain Sect Leader's daughter's heart.
