Chapter 4: No

"But Eirin-san, is there really any point for the Servants themselves?"

"Hmm?"

"From what I understand, these Heroic Spirits that were summoned are just 'clones' of their 'real form' which is stored in the Throne of Heroes. I know this is a bit harsh but, is there any need to focus on their personal health?"

Not hearing a response, Lin Yun quickly expanded on his question.

"I assume that they'd understand this as well as apparent by the fact that a good majority of them have been quite... calm about this, as if they themselves know that they came to do a job and then disappear along with all their memories, at least that's what I think why there hasn't been much ruckus, maybe that's even why during the game none of the Heroic Spirits 'pop up' and started something. Raikou only acted out of hand due to her past that warped her perspective, but when she inevitably disappears and gets summoned again, everything we've done would be lost to her."

"What is the purpose of living if all roads converge to death?" Eirin mused.

"I..."

"Each person, including Servants, has their own answers, you can see this from their actions. Personally, I believe that everyone deserves to live and experience life to the fullest, even if they eventually return to nothing. We both know that Babylonia is not the final singularity as the rest of Chaldea may believe, so having them at their best, and more with actual reasons to fight for other than it being a necessity for humanity to survive so that they could be summoned again in the future, would help our own survival as well."

If humanity does not survive, then they can't be summoned, and if they can't be summoned then some of them would not have their wish fulfilled by the Holy Grail. It's a selfish reason, but it's why some of them answered the summon to save humanity.

"Alright. How do these tools help me deal with Raikou's case then?"

"The introductory gift is true to the name of your System."

"So...?"

"They're not meant to help you in this specific case, they're general-purpose gadgets. Ah, the ingredients for dinner came, don't come home late okay? I'll be very angry if you do. Right, the prescription is a variation of Xanax but without any of the side effects, otherwise, I wouldn't live up to my title as 'Brain of the Moon' after all."

"W-wait!"

The call ended with a beep.

"... You could've at least wished me good luck or something." He sighed inwardly.

Lin Yun turned around, gently knocking on the wall separating the two so as to notify Raikou that he was done. "Yagoroko-sama has informed me that the medication is Xanax."

"Xa...Xanas? Shanax?" She fumbled, trying to properly pronounce it.

"I am to take this once a day?" She nodded pointing at the pharmaceutical label.

"But why?"

'If I remember correctly, Xanax is used to deal with anxiety and panic disorders by calming down the taker...'

"It's to help calm you down."

"Are you implying that there's something wrong with me?" Her eyes narrowed as Lin Yun could feel a slight feeling of aggression prickling his body.

'Aren't all Berserkers 'wrong' one way or another?' He couldn't help but retort.

"I apologize if I've misspoken Minamoto-sama." He gave a 90-degree bow before continuing while facing the ground.

"If I may ask, have you felt like you've been troubled by something lately that has been gnawing in the back of your mind, trapping you in a negative thought-loop of sorts?"

"How presumptuous of you, have your mother not taught you basic manners?" She said sweetly, completely contrasting the growing dangerous aura emanating from her. Previously, it was as if he was a student being lectured by their teacher but now it felt like a boulder growing exponentially on his shoulders!

It was hard to even breathe properly!

"I... I don't have parents." He forced out.

"... My apologies." While her dangerous aura still pressured him immensely, it noticeably lowered a notch as he could finally manage to breathe properly. Perhaps it was because she felt a small bit of connection towards him, or maybe it was out of pity, he'd never know.

'It'd be much better if you just stop entirely!'

"You're only partially correct, yes, but I don't believe that they are 'negative,' is it wrong for a mother to worry about her children?"

'Huh?'

Having no idea what she's talking about, Lin Yun tilted his head in confusion. "I'm sorry, I don't quite understand."

'I never rolled her.' Lin Yun lamented. He could not afford to buy Saint Quartz, the currency used to 'roll' Servants of different rarities, as he was financially strapped all throughout university. Perhaps if he had rolled her back then, he might've understood her better.

"Do you... want to talk about it?"

"No."

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
zzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzz

I ended it this way for a reason, it'll be expanded on the next chapter. Sorry if it's too slow for some of you, I think that character relationship(s) develop way too fast in some fanfictions.

By now some of you may have realized that I use surnames and first names (as well as Heroic Spirits and Servants) interchangeably, the reason is that it's easier to convey their perspective/relationship with how they address certain people and topics.

For example, Eirin uses Servants instead of Heroic Spirits because to her, they're just regular people, perhaps even less than that. While to Lin Yun and the rest of the Chaldean staff, they're heroes and are ought to be treated with respect. Likewise, this can change from internal thought to external where word choice can potentially offend these mythical beings.
