Tyler mentioned that he couldn't get a specific facial expression the main character made frequently in the novel right. Elise knew exactly what she wanted it to look like but couldn't explain it properly in words so they struggled for a while.

Heather admitted it was difficult working with someone else's characters because she was used to working with her own. She had a hard time keeping them true to Xander's story at first.

Well, they had asked. Hazel may as well be honest.

"Eva made me redo the main character no less than five times during the initial proposal phase because she wasn't exactly what she had imagined. I was about to lose my mind."
