Chapter 21: You Could Never Bother Me

Sarah regarded them both all the more curiously when they approached, noticing their linked hands. Will didn't owe her an explanation but could feel Janine glaring daggers at him so he offered one anyway.

"Hazel and I have standing plans to do homework together and her phone died so she didn't get my text saying I had to meet with you today instead. Hazel, this is Sarah."

"Nice to meet you," Sarah said as she looked back and forth between the two of them with an unfathomable expression.

"Yeah, you too. Sorry about this," Hazel replied sheepishly as she sat down on Will's other side at the square table. "I'll try not to bother you guys too much."

"You could never bother me," he reassured her as he reached out to pet her head.
